I was asked some time ago how I decided to fit these servos to my HK 450 CCPM 3D. The servos come with, amongs other things, brass cup washers which are longer than the flange thickness of the servos. I finally decided to glue the cup washers into the flanges with epoxy adhesive and file the underside flush with the flange. I was then able to use M1.6 screws nuts and washers locked in place with Loctite of course. See the photograph which I've uploaded. target=_blank>Servo fitting

These are great little servos. I have 3 installed on cyclic of my HK450TT. Even after a few crashes and broken servo arms, they still work great. If it weren't for the metal gears, I would've had to replace 4-5 servos by now due to stripping. They really pay for themselves because they don't strip easily.

Can I buy extra servo gear of HK-CS929MG ? I broke first plastic gear of this servo. I would like to buy the plastic gear, But I can't find it at Hobbyking. I should buy new servo?
 Chris 33 points
Yea it might be easier just to buy a new one, I've looked in to the servos i have, and they are a little complicated to figure out.

I was running 5 volts, I changed it to 5.5 Volts and Now the servos twitch and are untrust worthy!

I had the same problem, but for me it happened to be a faulty esc.

If I wanted to buy spare servo arms does anyone know what ones will fit? thanks Adrian
 Bryan 8 points
Most servo arms will fit, it's not uncommon to have to bore the hole a little bit larger on the nylon servo horn. Also, here's a little tip. If you take a dremel tool and cut a 1/8" slot in a pare of electrical linesmen pliers, they then become a perfect tool for making you own servo arms to whatever length you need! Just add a clevis AND AWAY YOU GO!
 pdiddy 667 points
The person is asking about arms not control rods, I have the corona version of these and have used hitec 65 servo arms.

anybody else got this jamming their electrical system? if i use is very slowly i get it to work, but if i make a complete turn, the whole systems jams! (n-q4 tx rx)
 Necrocopter 8 points
It sounds to me like the driver board may be bad causing unwanted electrical feedback. I have had that happen with other brands of servos. Has the servo been crashed ? How old is it ? I have many 929MG servos and never had that happen on a new one.
 Dirk 13 points
i bought these an moth ago and they have never been used. all of them are jamming, so i guess a factory fault. if i connect the cheap plastic ones (tunigy) it all works, but these MG are jamming all 4.
 NumnutChriS 476 points
Check your power source* eg. if you have an ESC with a ***r BEC it might fail to drive several servos. Of course you can have gotten bad servos anyway* I bought 4 and they all work well.
 pdiddy 667 points
Try using a ferrite ring on the esc connection lead
 Chris 33 points
this has happened with me, I took my whole setup in to my local hobby shop and they said it was a problem with the receiver($pektrum AR8000. But when it did work my servos would twitch and then just stop.
 SlamminSam 5 points
I get twitching out of these in the tails of my Extra's and edge 540. a simple ferrite ring does a great job as an EMI filter quick fix, just a little "noise" coming off the wires and motors.
 Straight Up 754 points
I had this exact issue when using 3 of these servos in the tail of my BAe Hawk. I fitted a 4700uF capacitor to a servo plug, then attached it using a Y-lead in parallel with one of the servos (it doesn't matter which one - all servos plugged into the receiver use the same bus). Problem fixed!
 Marcos 1 points
I have the same problem "". I have a corona 929mg , and even using 3 1500uF caps , the arduino hangs (using aeroquad as flight controller) i don't know what to do , I tried anoteher 929mg and the problems continues, I've tried another power source just for the arduino and the problem continues..
 Straight Up 754 points
Try a bigger capacitor. I know 3 x 1500uF = 4500, but maybe your installation needs more?
 Chris 33 points
I found out that it was the esc, maybe this helps maybe not...

yes it works fine you must just drill 4 new holes in the chassy plate.... 2 for screws...2 for pins. Take the centre of the stock holes, but move it 1mm to the inside (in the direction of the drive shaft) and thats that ... works like charm.

maybe because the power supply isnt supportive enuf try using a UBEC
 DaveGahan 123 points
Hi! Thanks for your response! Yeah, that seems to be very often the problem. But if it was the power supply, why do 2 of the 929MG (digital/analog) or 939MG on a Y-lead connected to one channel on the Rx and another servo on another channel (3 Servos at all) work without any problems? If I only connect one of the HK-Servos at one channel and another HK (or any other brand...) servo to another channel (2 Servos at all), the problems occur! I think the problem is related to the voltage subject (not amp), because it doesn't happen when using a y-lead with 2 servos on one port of the Rx. This problem makes me crazy, because it only occurs, when I use these servos! Doesn't anybody else have similar problems?
 Hella-Kopterz 130 points
sounds like you should check the soldering on the hk servos. i use 922mg for 450 heli rudder and both of mine needed some "attention" to the soldering. I did NOT have the same prob as you, however may be worth looking into? or perhaps the servo plugs arent making good contact, hence the prob goes away with use of y cable. let us know what u find.
 DaveGahan 123 points
Hey!
The last 2 days I tested and tested and... I tried different combinations of ESCs/receivers and Servos. There were allways problems, when I used the 922MG (digital and analog) and 939MG. But some of them seem to work! That was the reason why I started to open them again (first time I greased the gears) and to check the solderings. That was yesterday and since then I ask myself again and again if I should go on buying any servos at HK in the future (of course with one exception: The HXT900 is absolutely great!). As Hella-Kopertz described the solderings are terrible! On a few servos there was something like a "bridge" between 2 of the wires! After resoldering (which is not easy) this parts, things worked better on two of the servos. They even moved much smoother than before! Others couldn't be improved. I think there were crazy voltage drops caused by short circuits. This influenced the receivers and all connected devices. So, now I ask myself how I should trust these servos. 6 of 15 (929MG analog and digital, 939MG) worked quite well. The rest is more or less defect! How could that be? I'm very angry! I have many motors, ESCs, LiPo's etc bought at HK and I'm very satisfied with these items. I will go on buying those things but if it comes to servos I don't know...
 DaveGahan 123 points
There are reports of guys observing the same crazy behaviour out there. They used the corona servos, which should be identical... Have a www.link
 DaveGahan 123 points
Links are not possible, so I post there www.link guys

So, I'm in the process of putting in some new servos on the b400, and I ran into a strange issue.

I'm using HXT900s for cyclic and a corona on the rudder. I still have the stock ESC, it will be replaced next week hopefully, but when I power everything up, without the motor plugged in, any movement of the rudder servo results in the cyclic servos jumping all over the place. As soon as I unplug the corona rudder server, everything works as expected. Gyro seems to have no impact, I can switch between the stock or the assan gyro.

I'm just wondering if someone could explain what is going on here and where these jitters on the hxt900s (all of them) are coming from. I thought maybe a power issue, but shouldn't that results in a brownout? Where is this involuntary movement of the cyclic servos coming from?

Thanks for any feedback, I can't fly like this, so I have to figure this one www.link I tested my GA250 ASSAN gyro on my HK450 V2.
Tail servo was Henge 922MG
and unfortunalely I had your same problems.
Lot of noising vibrations and jitter.
Tested with all CP servos Corona 929 MG analog servos with very bad results.
Powered with 6V, my JR RD921 2.4 ghz and satellite receivers lights also started to blink and there was not totally control of the servos movements following my input from my JR DSX9 radio.
I think that servos are very poor and not reliable.
I decided to do not waste anymore time and money so I'll buy a Align DS410 for tail and Hitec Hs65MG for CP.

What does this means: Operating Travel: 40º/one side pulse traveling 400us will that mean, the total travel of the arm is 80º both sides? I'm looking for comparable servo with 180º travel.
 viejoperro 17 points
Not an easy question for a short answer, basic, operating travel 40 is the degrees from the center point to each side the servo horn will travel at the 400 us signal pulse. You could change the pulse of the servo with a servo adjuster. For better understanding read this link

I want to use this servo for flaps, the plane I purchased has the servo mounts cut out so will I need a reverse servo or can a change the wires around and have a reverse servo and if so which wires do I swap on the connector?
 H-KING_SCOTT 5214 points
You cant reverse by swapping the wires around externally, it will just short the motor, it would need to be stripped, you need to either have them on seperate channels and mixed or use a reversing y-lead.

Thank Jason, they guy at the local hobby shop said I could swap the wires around, I figured he was wrong. Where can I get a reversing y-lead. This sounds like the best option or I am using a 9 channel turnegy transmitter I could do seperate channels but wouldn't that get a little tricky.
 mad jay 188 points
switch one of the outside wires with the middle one and the polarity will be reversed
 2009rfarmer 11 points
most radio's have a reverse switch to reverse derection of travel.
 Vova.St. 81 points
If you place two servo mirror, you do not reverse.
 RAFABIANCHINI 30 points
You just can use Brown/negative, red/positive and orange/signal, you can reverse it in the transmitter only.
 sam2000pres 22 points
Rewiring will not work, do not change wires on connector as reversing polarity will kill the servo...might be easier to change the wing mount around, flip over the servo, making the servo arm connection on the other side of the output wheel, to get the required direction.
 Joey A. 14 points
No, you cant reverse the servo by swapping wires.

No. The wire has one and only one position. to reverse the signal, you have to use the 'reverse' function of your transmitter. If your Transmitter does not hanlde this feature, then buy a servo regulator module. see www.link fo a full explanation on this component.

 coy 27 points
I have programmed digital servos before. You need to purchase a servo programmer. You hook up the servo and are able to adjust centering, servo travel, and direction. I have not tried to do this with an anolog servo, but since HK advertises this as programmable, then it should be.

Good servo for the price. I cannot recommend it for helicopters. There is a little too much play in the gears and the servo arms. The swashplate
would have too much of free movement. They do center well, but the resolution is not the best. The resolution issue combined with the slop in the gears make this servo unsuitable for heli use. Great for slower parkflier planes.

Ordered 3 to use in a trex 450 clone. They have been installed and flown
for actual results. They seem to be strong gear wise, but am not happy with the gear play and and wobble in the main gear output shaft that developed. Okay for some applications I guess, but you don't any play or super little at best in a heli. I thought I would take a chance for the price since the reviews seem to be favorable, but in my case, not so. I have now ordered some hk-939 and will try them, not as fast a servo though. Never had trouble with Hitec, may have to go back to them. For a cheap little 450 heli didn't want to spend $ if I didn't have to.
