This large size YAK54 is made from crash resilient EPO foam, and included is a powerful 3740 brushlessoutrunner, four metal gear servos and a propeller. You only need to include your own 60A esc, battery and Rx to be flight ready.
The YAk54 takes around 2hrs to complete and is easy to assemble and repair thanks to it's simple design and strong EPO construction. A very nicely scaled and finished R/C model; main wings are reinforced with alloy tube during mould injection for a strong slop-free fit, the landing gear is strong yet light, battery access is very easy, tail section is light and provides plenty of control as do the full size ailerons. This is a true 3D capable EPO foamie with a ridgid design that can still handle botched landings!
Be aware that the motor supplied with this has a 2 piece rear housing that can separate and do a lot of damage. This i think is the reason people have reported the can pulling off the front of the motor. Watch those fingers and eyes near this thing.
That would be fine as long as you can balance the CG. It recomends 3000mah 6s so you would be at 2200mah 6s by putting them in series... which would just mean shorter flight times.
Why does this require 6s?The larger yak flies on 4 and its the only thing thats put me off as 4s prices are as much as id pay for batteries. And do the servos all have easy access for upgrades or changes?
cheers mick
the lower Kv of this motor needs the exra volts for revs HTH ps i would use a 2cell and a 4 cell 3000mAh with a series connector this allows u to make a whole range of batts the best combo for me is a 3cell and a 2 cell so u can make 4 5 6 and even 8 cell with a couple of each HTHM
What prop and prop adapter used on this?
I bought JM 14x7 / 356x178mm propeller (product ID JM001-00114B) but can't find prop adapter that fits properly.
I think the motor shaft is 5 mm and the propeller shaft is 6 mm.
Which combination do you use?
Have they changed the pictures on the plane? I sure it showed a blue body one in the first picture and the last I am sure there was one with a red body!
Bacter I get what you are asking but it is not this one. It is the same plane but at the Aus warehouse. have a look at PRODUCT ID: YAK54_56in YAK 54 1.4m EPO Kit w/ Brushless Motor/ Servos (AUS Warehouse). In this listing you can see the first plane is blue and the last is red. I hope this helps
Vinay2070 me too but this is a good deal. So yes we could save a few dollars but using our own gear. If you are like me you a a motor or two laying around. But this is well setup and looks fine. i hope this helps.
It depends also on the motor and prop combination you are going to use. The battery will safely allow you to draw 50 times its own capacity per hour in amps. For example, a 50C battery of 1000mah capacity will allow a 50 amp current draw without destroying itself. If you have a 60amp speed control and you will be using a 50 c battery, you will need a battery capacity of 1200mah or greater and choose a motor/prop combination that draws less than 60 amps (which is about 1300 watts if you are using
the speed controller would need to be rated greater in amps than the product of 50C x battery amperage. voltage doesn't come into it. of course, check and see what the motor wants to draw at max power and use the appropiate ESC
I have the same plane w/ your yak 54. I use turnigy 50-55 motor and 70amps esc and 3000mah 6s battery. I think your 60amps will make it. 150amps is overkill
i like buy a YAK54_56in - YAK 54 1.4m EPO Kit w/ Brushless Motor/ .. i dont know choice a lipo battrie pack 22.2v 6 cell ????? whats a '' Constant Discharge: ?
Peak Discharge : ? i dont know! 20c-30c-40c-50c
This is a good battery for the plane: www.link means that it can 20 times the capacity (C) of the battery. 20 x 3000mAh (3A) = 60A constant. For a short time you can use even more (50C would mean 150A for a few seconds)
yes a 22.2v 6 cell is a good choice. typically when you are flying level and with constant speed the discharge from battery is constant. this should not cross the constant discharg mentioned on the battery. the peak is the max the battery can discharge. so if you have a 1000mah battery and constant discharge is 30c then 1x30=30 amp of constant discharge. like wise for peak.
constant discharge is the power the battery can delivery continuously without overheating or damaging itself. so if a pack of 3000ma is rated at 20c constant it means it can deliver 3000x 20 = 60amps continuously. if its peak discharge is 30c it means it can delivery 3000x30= 90 amps for a short period of time. usually around 15seconds before it gets too hot and damage occurs
Looks like this plane is made by the same factory as 1.5m Rainbow F3A. Might be a good performer, but I don't see carbon tubes in the wings. Maybe they are inside?
And the metallic tube, which connects the wings, can bend in flight.
Sure i am sure they have some one who knows how to fly and has the time to set it up ext ext.... Videos are for the customers to put up. Thats why the reward customers $5 for a good product video.
Naw... not necessarily. They had video up when accepting pre-orders for their Yak54 MONSTER 3d. In fact, it was the video of the Yak flying with a Chinese city background that got me to buy it.
very nice looking plane but its just too heavy and too expensive for what's included. i do like the metal gear servos, but 4kg shipping weight is a lot.
Sorry, late night. I havent used the ESC, so I cannot comment on this one. Keep the prop size within spec and dont overload the motor/esc and if it faults we will replace it. Simple as that.
So have you replaced any of the motors (and ESCs) for folks who bought the 1.5m Yak - like myself?
As far as I am concerned what you shipped is not fit for purpose.
How can you BS that you will "replace it". You guys sent me the wrong size prop adapter on a 50-xx turnigy and have NOT replaced it. You asked for pictures (i provided) then you simply blew me off and ignored the problem. I wounld trust you or HK to replace anything !!
Many items are not worth the time and money to ship all the way back to China. You know the Yak54 Monster had faulty ESC and motors, why should we have to PAY TO return the garbage in order to get suitable replacement?
Come on Jason ** those of us who bought the first batch of Yak54's should get automatic no questions asked replacements. Do what's right and the negative comments will become praise.
Jason no disrespect to you directly but BLOW ME OFF is exactly what your CS did. I did my part and sent the pics. The CS agent said I would be contacted by the warranty dept. Never happened. Same for a fellow club member , his heli canopy was crushed do to improper packing (battery flopped around and crush it). He was also asked for pics and nothing ever happened.
In my case it was not damaged or defective goods, it was a 42-XX prop adapter sent with a 50-XX motor (obviously doesn't fit too small). The CS rep said they would contact the vendor. I said "You have over 100 50-65 motors in stock, why can't you simply take a prop adapter from one of those and send it to me". Never recieved a reply! So if you want to try and prove that customers don't get blown off my name is BRENT PASDERNICK, look me up in your system and send me a 50-XX prop adapter and I might consider doing business with HK again.
Hey Jason you were quick to reply when I called you out as BS for replacing stuff, but after my last post you could have been helping me out or comment that you will take care of my issue but I guess you choose to ignore it and hope it goes away like the CS rep that 1st dealt with me on this. Not impressed, but also not suprised either, thanks for rthe standard HK blow off!!!
From the aileron hardware and hatch- and cowling magnets my guess is that this comes from the same guys who makes the Rainbow A-388 pattern foamie of similar size. If so the quality is quite good, its really solid but maybe a little heavy.
My Rainbow had an AUW less than 2 kg, I even added some ballast in the nose to make it fly more stable. Maybe it happened because I used light mini-servos instead of standard size
would this plane be any good 3d plane with Turnigy 4258 Brushless Motor 800kv(265gr) in combination with 4cell lipo? 14/7prop will it hover?

41 thumbs up!
I got the kit few days ago and after many hours I am somewhat disappointed. Overall the kit is very nice, but 2hrs... forget about it. the manual is... well its not. most of the things you have to find out your self. my servo tray was preinstalled the wrong way (and it can't be fixed), so longer pushrods are needed. the wings are not painted and the supplied sticker came wrinkled. the EPO parts are ok, but all the accessories are low quality.

2 thumbs up!
Just got the plane in. Few dissapointments. First the servo push rods are too short for the elevator and rudder-will need longer ones. The screws to hold the servo horns on are too short. Forget about 2 hours to build...kinda fun putting it together though. Nice build quality. Nice and heavy when all assembled-EPO foam seems very durable. All in all it's a great plane-just can't wait to fly it.

1 thumbs up!
Just did my maiden. Squirly on the ground. While in the air, did a couple rolls(very good role rate, set at 80pcnt), did a snap flip and it almost went into a stall but kept it's posture. Didn't get a chance to do any 3d because after about 20 seconds in, heard something go.-did a good job at floating in. Motor kinda fell apart, and it brough my esc with it too doesn't work anymore. Might want to get a better motor. Still love this plane though.

Hi, anybody manage to find the CG of this plane? It's also difficult to look for 3740 500kv motor apart from the stock.

Try to include as much data as possible.
