hey guys, im interested in FPV flying and want to set up a camera with a pan/tilt mechanism like this, im just not sure how to operate it though, do you need a seperate tx/rx for it? how do people operate their pan/tilt mechanisms? cheers
 firatp 150 points
You don't need to have a separate Tx/Rx. Just put 2 servos for pan and tilt, then connect those servos to spare channel on your Receiver at the plane.Assign 2 knob controller on the TX to operate the pan and tilt.
 Petr Hejl 1 points
You can also control your pan/tilt with a head tracker on your goggles, this usually hooks up to the trainer port in your transmitter and two channels are assigned to this port. The servos then connect to the appropriate slots on your receiver.

I'm building a quadcopter with tiltrotors. Motor = hextronik 24 gram 1300 kv. Are these cameramounts strong enough to be used as tiltmotor mounts? Only the servo in the camera mount will be used.
 v_max 379 points
I'd suggest to use "Micro 3D Single Axis Thrust Vectoring Motor Mount" Item ID: 9095000018

I believe the servo visible on top should be ancored either in this diretion, or up-side-down. This top servo will act on the horisontal axis, while the other, which also holds plat for camera, wil pan vertically. Hope this clears your question!
Mar11  1961 points - 1/15/2013

how will i connect this to my plane... how will i install this on my plane?
 Laxmikant 533 points
this is for small cameras like fat shark camera's on Hk. on pan tilt camera is held by screws and for mounting the whole thing u have u ave to fit the pan tilt frame on the plane with some arrangements according to ur plane
 Mar11 1961 points
Yeah I know I have everything... this is my question I have the arrangement but can't see how it will fit on the plane ...unless I attach the servo
 alex.khoroshko 325 points
That's how it works. Just fit the bottom servo into the plane.
 alex.khoroshko 325 points
forgot to mention. The camera on the video is L-size, whereas this camera is small, like for the fat shark camera. They have equal design, only the size is different
Mar11  1961 points - 1/15/2013

in which channels will the servos go in ?
 Laxmikant 533 points
U can put it any free channel but put on the channel which has regulator on it so that you can hold ur camera at any direction.
 Mar11 1961 points
i cant believe i used to ask such questions..
andjd  1 points - 12/7/2012

Received this and tried with the camera and Hextronik HXR900. The holes alignment are very bad. I've to file almost every other opening. Screw holes are also missed aligned. Don't recommend to buy this product. Hobbyking should recommend compatibility list if the alignment is such important aspect.

 Laxmikant 533 points
i guess ur using the sony cameras this one is for small cameras like fatshark cam

That's right, come incomplete. Missing 1 piece to work! Do not recommend. I wonder how HobbyKing handle these facts, because mine came incomplete. The missing piece that holds the second servant. Without the part, the pan & tilt does not work.
 krekrek 19 points
O suporte me ofereceu $1 de desconto na pró*xima compra. Isso nã*o está* correto. Sem a peç*a o produto nao funciona. Poderiam me enviar a peç*a que faltou. Ou outro produto. Gostaria de comprar a peç*a faltosa, incluindo o envio, pelo valor que me ofereceram. The support offered me $ 1 discount on the next purchase. This is not correct. Without the part the product does not work. Can you send me the piece that was missing. Or other product. I would buy the faulty part, including shipping, for the amount they offered me.
genrlst  19 points - 4/27/2012

so this is made of fiberglass..I was just putting this together and alot of powder came off it, is it dangerous?
 RonRC 1993 points
fiberglass or carbon fiber are not healthy to inhale or get into your eyes. If you're going to be cutting this stuff, spit on it or use something that will keep the dust down wear a respiratory mask and safety goggles. DON'T USE a Dremel tool on this stuff either.
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 genrlst 19 points
they should have coated the edges of the fiberglass board to avoid the dust from coming off
 RonRC 1993 points
genrlst, it is a good idea to rinse these types of materials before working with them. Anything to keep the dust down. This is why I don't install insulation! Ha ha! Nasty stuff and no matter how much I try to protect myself when I do work with it, I still get some stuck in me somewhere and need an electron microscope to get it out. Take care and happy flying!

Has anyone use this unit to mount for a GOPRO HERO 2 camera
 RC Fun 371 points
I have used these for small camera but they would be to small for the GOPRO
 NumnutChriS 472 points
Gopro is too heavy for this, with or without the protective case its just too big.

No. This tilt mount is not suitable for gopro. However this one: www.link will suit gopro

It's not easy to get that link working. The search couldn't find it night. Finally, I had to login, open up and read any of the post. And then replace the TID to 14088 and I could finally see the manual post.
 mslootweg 10 points
Ah yeh, the link broke. The new working one is: www.link have to be logged in for it to work, so login first, then click the link.
PerlCoder  47 points - 6/11/2011

Has anybody got a manual link that actually works? I just want to know which way round the bearings go.
 wolfes1126 3344 points
Hi Perlcoder,
i have mounted mine with the bevelled edge (bigger Diameter Lip) to the Inside.
that way it has more support against the swiveling Plate that you mount your Camera and Servo on, and leaves less play for possible Vibrations.

If this helped you please click the Button below.
Thank you

How is the tilt servo mountet? Glue? And way are the no nuts included?
 pd5dj 37 points
The servo is mounted with some foam tape, and there are precut fiber pressnuts wich click in place.
 MyDSi 114 points
all you need to build this one and to mount servos is some glue :)
 jollybandit 54 points
if you wrap your servo body first in some electrical or f/g tape first prior to glue (i just use just standard silicon) then if ever necessary to recover/ replace the servo you just cut the tape and peal it off without any residue, then you can work away at removing the tape and silicon, and because the tape is flexible it comes away much more easily, rather than trying to separate the flat servo area with a screwdriver. all my plane servos are glued in this way for easy replacement even on foam
 joseimpo 159 points
The tilt servo is glue
 randall 12 points
I used epoxy to glue mine but you can use double sided tape, silicone or just about anything.
 victor 16 points
Do not use glue, use double-sided adhesive tape
 tarro 24 points

 psychosaffa 37 points
big enough to mount a patch antenna, to use as a tracker, on the HK website? got a link?
 Zebra 12 points
I tried to add the link but this board chops them. Just put 'pan-tilt' in the search bar. You should get both camera mounts - mind you, neither are available right now. Whether it is big enough you have to work out for yourself :) Regards,
 psychosaffa 37 points
are you having a giraffe? do you know what an antenna tracker is? these will never work for that purpose!!

well then dont put tha kind of comment in "FPV Fiberglass Pan-Tilt Camera Mount" and if u are smart enough you can make it by ur self using popsicle sticks and servos... just use ur brain and invent.
 Roel-CP 15 points
Come on dude
You know that kind of stuff isn't suitible for an antenna tracker.
It need to be ver accurate.
go to servocity for good tracker parts.

Jason, no problem. Even the $7 price was good, I was just curious why it had changed (ie- CF instead of Fiberglass, changed hardware, etc.)

Now, how about some 180 servos to match? 180 rotation on pan is the best way to go. :)

A create small camera mount. The fibreglass part are fitting very good. Due to there is no assembly instruction available, I did a small build log: www.link
The mount is usable for cameras that are not wider than a 9gr Servo.

truely amazing after 3 year looking for the perfect setup HK made it, my head tracker is happy !!
really well made nice ball bearing linkage very solid quality
the only upgrade would be to screw the servo on the plate instead of glueing
anyhow i made a circle hole in the plate pass the camera objectif in and use double side servo tape at the rear of the camera for the servo mount
