My DYS BE1806 only can only pull 10 watts from this ESC even after programming using a 3S. It goes bonkers with 4S (sync issues). It probably needs a firmware upgrade and I haven't seen a manual yet. However, I can still set the high and low values. To compare, my Afro 12a ESC the DYS BE1806 will pull around 75 watts. No wonder my engine didn't have enough thrust. In my book it's a piece of **** until it is working properly.

Just a follow up. It's no longer a piece of ****. I can now get similar results with this ESC as Afro 12a. I had to buy a Atmel Atmega Socket Firmware Flashing Tool and USBasp. I had to cut away 3 sides of the Atmel processor. I could flash with KKMulticopter BS NFet Firmware and also BLHeli 13.1 firmware. For BHeli, I configured for Overtemp Protection ON, Motor Timing to High, Dampen Light and this Blue Series 12a now uses watts like my motor specs say. So, I'm liking it so far. However, I may need better engines. No warranties. Just thought I would pass on some info.

I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESC FOR MULTICOPTER OR MINICOPTER, ITS REALY HARD TO PROGRAMING, FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE I PREFER LUMENIER.
 scaper28 14 points
Javier , I do not agree at all it takes seconds to flash these esc with SimonK using the Atmega Socket Tool , also 3 times less cost that Lumenier!! www.link

You don´*t even need Atmega socket tool. It has bootloader and you can use tunigy flash tool or afro flash tool connected to reciever plug. Connect via USB. Very simple. Blheli suite 13.1 as program
 airbiscuit 225 points
Peter, I got mine on its way to me. I really do hope this can be flashed using the Afro Tool/Turnigy Linker over the servo leads. I am liking this Blue Series ESCs.
 Peter 40 points
The ESC supports 2S to 4S operation. This is from BlHeli manual: It supports damped light mode, overtemp protection and BOOTLOADER ON INPUT PLUG. Switching speed is quite fast, although high side is slow to turn on. Both high side and low side are Nfets. At 2S, low voltage limiting does not work reliably. It uses the "BlueSeries_12A_.." code
 airbiscuit 225 points
Peter, I got mine already sadly it won't connect to BLHeli Suite using the Turnigy USB Linker using the Servo Lead.
 Peter 40 points
Sometimes you have to repeat connect to device. Try and try again. Search for "How to flash any ESC with BL Heli" on YT.
 Peter 40 points
Airbiscuit! If you don´*t have opto controller you have to cut or remove the red wire on the servo lead.
 airbiscuit 225 points
Peter, I did tried countless times. I did removed the Red Servo Wire too (5V) I guess its because this ESC does not come with a Bootloader, which it is not flashed with SimonK. Hence it can't be flash to BLHeli using the Turnigy USB Linker.
 Peter 40 points
Airbiscuit, you are right. I´*m sorry for that. I did it with my new BS and I couldn´*t either. I had to order atmega socket tool and after that flash it with BlHeli. I just read the instruction sheet on BlHeli and couldn´*t find anything about the need of simonK first.
 airbiscuit 225 points
Peter, yeah I also am yet to oder that to try it out. If it works, then I can maybe stock up on this ESCs. The ones I am having now (which is SimonK installed/bootloader enabled) are awesome!

Can I use it with 4S ? It says 3S on it and HK says 2-4S ...
 georgiev.s 780 points
Yes, you can. I already used them on 4S.
 airbiscuit 225 points
Go for it! 4S is safe. Just need to watch for your Motor & Propeller combination.

I think 18AWG wire used for the power leads would have been a better choice for ensuring efficient current flow.

Excellent speed control. I use it with a Turnigy 2730-1500kv running 2 and 3 cell lipo on small,< 32 wing span, 3D planes. I have run up to 4 micro, 5g, servos on the BEC with no problems.
