The spec above says 2-4S Lipo, the label in the pic says 2-3 Lipo, the purchased goods say 2-3 Lipo. HK has so many ESCs, they don't know what they do... bit of a lottery really!
Something must be wrong with one phase . Check motor connection if all three wires are gently connected and don't have some " cooljoin " . Then check if all 3 windings of motor stator are good and don't have short circuit between them or short to motor coil former (need some ohm metter). If its all this correct , then must be problem in ESC .
Is this a switching esc ? Kind of a rookie and I thought to have it to a quad with kk2.0 board. Do I need to cut the red wire on 3 of the esc or does it work anyway?
If I want to program these with simonK which version do I use? I just opened the kkmulticopterflashtool and there are lots of options. TPV2012-09-30 or TP N-FET or I2C or 8khz?
Scroll further down and look for BS N-FET V2012-09-30 by Simon Kirby. BS presumably stands for blue series and can be used for HK blue series ESC and Mystery line of ESC.
Hello.
Can anyone tell me, will this esc work in a 1/36 car ? Or is it just for planes only?
I want to use it in a Losi Micro Highroller to power a 10250 KV micro motor (12mm diameter, 20mm length) with a 2s 300Mah 15C lipo battery.
Many thanks in advance.
It would will definitely run the motor but there is no reverse on this esc. This would be safe for the losi micro 10250kv. The motor is rated 9 amps max for 3 sec.
Its a ***mer. The esc has the programming functionality of reversing direction but not an actual reverse. Maybe a flash could do the trick ill have to check later it would be awesome to have a cheap car esc with added cooling
Agree with Gary, the only one I have had that comes with connectors is the "H-KING 50A Fixed Wing Brushless Speed Controller" which by the way is performing very well, I recommend it.
Hi! Will this ESC work ok with motor Mystery A2212-1450kv???

Saludos.
This will work without the programming card. You can even program it with your tx and rx. The programming card is just for convenience. For a quad, this will work best flashed with somonk firmware. But you will need the usbasp programmer to do that.
ok thanks. sorry but this will be my first quad so i dont know much about them. what does flashed with somonk firware mean, iv heard the term before but im still not sure what i means. thanks
That's simonk actually, got a bit of typo there. It is a firmware developed by SimonK from rcgroups which replaces the default configuration of the esc into something which is optimized for multirotor use. Generally gives better performance than stock firmware.
Yes, sort of an upgrade. See if your quad is not performing according to your liking. Try the PI/D tuning first, if after the tuning and it still doesn't perform as expected, you can try the simonk firmware.
2-4s stands for 2-4 cells in SERIES. The "s" stands for "series", so you are correct. The "s" is a holdover from the early days when you couldn't buy large LiPos, so they often hooked them in parallel. So (for instance), a 2P3S battery pack would be 2 parallel sets of 3 cells in series.
Can this ESC run at constant rate in governor mode, say 80% throttle? I have a particular application which requires constant throttle regardless of what the mail TX throttle is doing. It will be controlling a second 1500kv BL which needs constant (above 70%) throttle. Thanks!
You should check it's programming card to see if it has governor mode, but if not, it couldn run at constant throttle, but you shouldn't connect it to rx then. You could use a servo tester(PRODUCT ID: HKSST) and set it to lets say 80% and keep it inside your aircraft, or maybe flash a firmware on the esc if you can program atmel microcontrollers, or if you are using multirotor, flash a firmware(also need to be custom made probably) of your flight controller board. Please award credits if this helped.
According to its user manual this ESC has governor mode. Therefore I'd like to clarify that governor mode stabilises not throttle but RPM of a motor. RPM is regulated according to input signal on ESC. So you need to have a constant signal source, it can be servo tester, or may be arduino board with a few strings of code (or may be any other generator of constant PWM signal).
You don't really need whole arduino board, maybe just take out atmega328, or some simmilar atmel chip, like attiny 85 or 45, which can also be programmed in arduino ide, but are much smaller. Yes, that will also work if you know how to program arduino/atmel/anything.
I used these for my first quad also.
I plugeed each one into the RX box one after the other and programmed them that way by listening to the beep combos to change rotation direction etc.. Can eat up a bit of time but is the only way as far as I am awhere.
Also from memmory I think they appear on the Simon K flashable list...
Hi all i ordered 4 of these esc's for my new quadcopter. This is my first ever RC project.
I assembled all stuff and it works fine with the kk2 LCD FC.
However i need to program them, it doesnt seem to work with the turnigy program card (or the card is dead..?) and i followed the instructions to program it with the receiver but it doesnt work, can this be because of the FC? How can i program the card? what do i miss in this setup to do this? thanks.
For any1 just as fresh in this as me i found this out myself:
The kk2 FC must be armed at startup so not SAFE. Then only hook up the motor you wish to prgram on M1 from there follow the ESC manual.
Try the Turnigy multistar I use 4 on my mini quad and they work very well. And the price doesn't hurt either. I use the blue series on my x quad and they perform fairly similarly.
Shaggee No it is clearly marked 2s-3s lipos. The listing is wrong. I have raised a issue in the issue tab with HobbyKing for you. So this is only a 12 amp ESC and very light.
Yes its possible to flash them with simonk....
i use 12 of them and all of them flashed with simonk.
This little bugs work verrrry smoth with simonk....and auso my 3 mini quadcopter flys verry verry nice with them :-D
check the pins on :*******static.rcgroups****/forums/attachments/3/8/2 /4/5/7/a4452987-164-annotated%20esc.jpg
use simonk : bs_nfet.hex
but be sure u have the same layout like on the picture
cheers
Is it possible to flash this with simonK?
I know it does not have flashing pads, but if connecting directly to the chip's pins, will that work? Is the hardware supported by simonk?
Hello __Boom!
I think you don't need to flash this ESC with an another firmware. I use those ESCs with a framerate of 500 at my Quadrocopter and they are worling very well. I hope this helps you!
Excellent speed control. I use it with a Turnigy 2730-1500kv running 2 and 3 cell lipo on small,< 32 wing span, 3D planes. I have run up to 4 micro, 5g, servos on the BEC with no problems.
