Hi everyone,
Can someone with experience and ownership please give me some advice and information on this boat.
I am thinking about picking one up to do simi-custom build. Gutting the jull. Then laying up the interior with Carbon Kevlar.
Next step would be replacing engine and esc with a hobby wing 180 Leopard 4082 along with motor mount and everything else inside.
My main concern is the quality of the actual boat hull? is this thing worth the project. It would be nice to have the stock electronics and hardware as spares, but I really dont want to order this from HK if the finish is trash, and the hull will require as much work as a new raw hull from elsewhere. thanks guys
Hello HK, you can say to me if the decoration of this hull is painted or made by stickers? If she made by stickers are they over varnished to avoid their tearing? I have several boats stickers of which came loose at the end of some runs, it is not good. Thank you!
Unfortunately, the comment field is a bit short - so i have to keep it short:
- Problems found so far, did three test runs up to now and the boat is still not watertight:
- Almost no grease in shaft
- Rudder Screws not watertightened, needed to take off rudder
- Engine cooling jacket not sealed off properly at connector
- Drive dog contained had issue of not screwing in close enough to the holder, so mod is needed on shaft
- Leaking next to shaft at chassis
- Trough-hole for water hose not glued in
- Antenna screw loose and not watertight.
Pretty disappointing, needs a lot of DIY work..
same happen with me (Almost no grease in shaft - Rudder Screws not watertightened, needed to take off rudder - Engine cooling jacket not sealed off properly at connector - Drive dog contained had issue of not screwing in close enough to the holder, so mod is needed on shaft - Leaking next to shaft at chassis - Trough-hole for water hose not glued in - Antenna screw loose and not watertight. I found that in HK Video but like I said I need something from HK for a first attempts. I will buy an Octura in the future, actually it's too expensive for me.
Does anyone know if the banana plugs on the motor are 3.5 or 4 mm? I have measured mine and can't figure out which they are - just trying to order the females.
Thanks
Glenn
Buoni acquisti
received my boat a few weeks ago and have only been able to run it twice after my first run and everything hot as hell i noticed that it didnt seem to be flowing enough water to cool thing. i inspected everything from on end to the other and ended up changing the hoses inside the hull to a larger diameter and in the rudder the small plastic plug on the bottom was pushed up and blocking the intake holes. removed the plug and just used some epoxy to close the hole again. ran it again and everything is cool to the touch. check yours before you burn something up.
I have bought this boat from the NL warehouse. It arrived.
The piano wire drive turns on 3S approx. 8-10A into heat and the boat is awfully loud when run outside water. Said so, i have put it into water after adding servo, esc and receiver.
It worked ok so far - only thing: After about 5 minutes, my telemetry dropped out and i was lucky to quickly pull the boat to the shore with the receiver still working.
Once it was there, i opened it and it was full of water.
There seems to be no sealant at all applied to the screw in hose terminals on the engine ! - Water was leaking out there like crazy. Of course, you are not buying this boat and then disassembling the already pre-hosed cooling. - You better do - and also apply some sealant. Otherwise, you will soon have a broken receiver, ESC etc.
BEWARE !

Just got mine today and going to call it a prototype and hope for better in the future. Nice hull & paint but not too sure about the electronics. The included esc would only make the motor "stutter". I plugged in my Turnigy 120 marine esc and solved that problem. Motor looks like a Fiego but heats up quickly like a KB45. Wish it was available as an undrilled hull. If you're going to sell it complete rig it with the Turnigy please.
