Norbert your answer of using 10S battery of 37 to 42 peak volts exceeds the motor max voltage of 22 volts. Even if that is possible the power into motor at 30 amps is the current voltage produced: (P = I x V) so 30A x 42V = 1260watts which is barely enough power for a 500 size heli! There is no reasonable way to avoid higher than 30 amp currents. The Align 600 manual gives you some average current draws in the range of 50 amps so my calculation on motor heating below is correct. Also Note the nominal current of the required ESC 100A

Understanding heating in dc motors. Heat comes from energy wasted in motor's internal resistance. To calculate us formula Power = I squared r ( I x I x r) For this motor at 50 amps with r = 18mOhm we get 50 x 50 x 0.018 = 45 watts. For same motor configured for 1400kv* r = 7mOhms so heating power at 50 amps is 50 x 50 x 0.007 = 17.5 watts therefore cooler running. The 1100kv version r = 25mOhms so heating is a whopping 62.5 watts. Run calculation with 100 amps is heating is 250 watts. Choose motor wisely !!!
 Norbert1 62 points
Hello, you see it from the wrong side. If you use the 880kv you can run it a 10S Accu to get the same rpm. To have the same power you need not 50 Amp - only about 30 Amp. 30x30x.018= 16W. Its allways about the same looses at the same power with adapted voltage. In other words - any given motor has at the same rpm at adapted voltage the same power und looses.

As 'The General' asked, does anyone know (or measure) the dimensions of the mounting bolt holes for the T600. Either the diameter of the circle of bolt holes or distance between adjacent mounting bolt holes. thx Don

Are the mounting holes 30mm apart or 25mm? They are M4s right?
 SAMUEL 8 points
I dont now if the holes are 30 or 25mm but is M4 bolt, if you are planing to put this motor in a helicopter 600 class fits proplely is a very good motor.
 heli bug 1 points
I have this motor in my trex 600esp for 8cell setup and it is perfect, the bolt holes are 25 mm to centre of each screw hole going diagonal. and the bolts that fit perfect are the feathering shaft bolts on trex 600 the washers are also from the feathering shaft of trex 600 bolts are M4x10mm and washers are 4x12x1mm,An ace motor i am just coverting my trex 600nitro with one of these motors also.

Is this better than the typhoon 600?
 gman4reel 134 points
Of course. I am using it on a 120mm EDF on 12s. Over 4700 watts 119Amps . This motor is under rated.
 jjm0580 72 points
Having had both motors, the T600 is of a much higher quality. Hope that helps!
 helixerox 2356 points
Typhoon and T600 are different engines. The T600 whith 8S is much more powerful and perfectly strong for heli 3D. Search youtube for "i3dm"

Hi FunAir, Thanks a lot for the pic. It looks like the cut is horizontal, is that correct, can you please upload a few more pictures in the fram would be really helpful and a close up where you had the cut. What did you use to cut the frame? I am sure alot of people will benifit from this, thanks alot
 FunAir 12 points
I cut the frame to "Hobby Router" I used to. The following is a reference site. This page [FILES] Please refer to the picture. 【Turnigy T600 Heri www.link 5F% 5F11102% 5F% 5FTurnigy% 5FT600% 5FBrushless% 5FOutrunner% 5Ffor% 5F600% 5FHeli% 5F1100kv% 5F.html Then, the motor mount screw holes is small. I have the motor mounted in the drill hole larger.

I have a hk600 heli and i bought this motor: Turnigy T600 Brushless Outrunner for 600 Heli (880kv). But it is too wide for heli. I see that some people have modified the frame by widening it? Is there anyone who has some pictures to show how it was done? Thanks
 FunAir 12 points
I had the same problem. It contacts the frame and motor. Cut the portion in contact with the frame. Flight is possible without problems HK600GT.

Anyone else noticed the price raised to 60 USD ?? Is it a joke ?
 erh7771 292 points
Nope not a joke, HK is sellin out to the man!!! I looked at a lot of motors this size and all the prices have gone up...I think magnet prices are skyrocketing (what HK said in their blog) cause somebody is wisely snatching the supply up.
 Bigglesfliesund 869 points
a price rise on magnets would not increase the motor by 40% I won't be buying any more
 zeeek1 514 points
Hey, it was $30 for a long time and they were WAAAY underpriced then. Now they are priced for what value they are and you complain? Tisk tisk... Better buy up some of the other Heli O/R motors before they go up too!! 3126's are still $19 and the 3740's are a decent mid $30 price range. Quit Yer whining!!!
 erh7771 292 points
lol...that's what we come to HK for www.link Underpriced Hobby stuff...now this isn't underpriced...doesn't matter, still a good value..this and that 120mm Changesun (with intake lip) at 100 skins is bustin 15pds on 12s with some good packs. Putts bigger jets in in folks hands
 zeeek1 514 points
Hey man, you should see a pair of these on one main shaft, HOLY FREeHOLEES!! 6000Watts!!! Just line them up as good as you can, one esc for each motor and make shure you know which way they are turning before you wire both up in the same direction. There is a thread in OSE electric boat forums. One guy put FOUR of the 1400kv ones on ONE main shaft!!! He powers a 55inch long boat with ease on 6S for each motor. Totally radical!!!!
HALLUIN PATRICK  13 points - 6/22/2011

Hello
can we remove shaft ?
 mattyhawk 232 points
Yes, the shaft is removed by 2 set screws on the back of the bell. C-clip on the front of the motor to remove bell, then remove set screws.

Just some motor mod info. Tore this sucker down this weekend. Bearing size: 6x13x5 and (2x) 6x10x3. Avid bearings sells semi ceramics in those sizes for $5 a piece. This is a Delta terminate wind. If you re-terminate it as a Star / wye, it will successfully become 475kv and same power handling. APCE 13x6, 30.28V, 57.71A, 1747.4W More info: rcgroups****/forums/showthread.php?t=1452375 "Turnigy T600 880kv Delta to Wye help"
 ap_85@ovi.com 5 points
I thought it was the same size bearing as for the hk-4025 890kv? So there is total 3 bearings in it? 2 6x10x3 and 1 6x13x5? You have any link to bocas?
 mattyhawk 232 points
Yep, those are the right sizes. No links, just search boca by size.
 Jono24 17 points
any luck matty with re-terminating the 1100kv to make a 595kv? i'm curious as i have an 1100kv in my hk600 which may be possible to make into a 12s monster...
 mattyhawk 232 points
Not yet, outta town, but probably by the end of June.
 Jono24 17 points
Just reterminated my 1100kv version using your guide, spun it up on eight and ten cell in my hk600gt on a HW 120a HV esc, and it seems good, esc wasn't warm (that thing never heats up) and the motor was only lightly warm to the touch. Stoked! now i have my 12s 600 heli motor!
 mattyhawk 232 points
As a side note, I was using this motor on 10S 12x12 prop with a Turnigy 120A HV esc. I ran it on medium timinig and it started loosing sync, very important to run this motor on LOW timing. Loss of sync was so violent, it bent the 6mm shaft at a 45* angle during a test run up.
nieves50  90 points - 5/19/2011

Turnigy needs to make this sucker as a 630KV...for 12S ! Keep it at the current price and you won't be able to keep them on the shelf for long! Add the 120HV Turnigy platinum and you'll have a 600 monster for a very reasonable price....
 TigerFly 8 points
I don't know how to respond, but can I please be pick to get the 20 cents? Thanks, Ken
 mattyhawk 232 points
I'm going to try re-terminating the 1100kv into a 595kv. I'll let you know how it goes.
 nieves50 90 points
DO IT!! Don't know what is taking Turnigy so long to come up with a reasonably priced 12S motor....
 Jono24 17 points
I'm using that esc (HW version) and have just rewound the 1100kv t600 using mattyhawk's method. It only takes about an hour if you take your time. as soon as i get a tachometer i'll post back here
Crash9  197 points - 1/25/2011

Motor is 8 poles for those using RPM sensors like ET or CC ESC with governor/RPM set.
 Crash9 197 points
the 1100kv is also 8 pole. Testing both the 880kv and the 1100 on a HK-600.

has anyone tried this on 12s
 Steven 6 points
DON'T DO IT!!!! The motor will fry at about 3/4" throttle. You'll end up watching $35.00 go up in smoke... Literally!
 erh7771 292 points
Yes it'll do 12s, this motor is bustin >15pds of thrust in the Haoye 4.5" fan (HK sells em) and a Turbax rotor at > 4500 watts. Not bad...wish it was still 30 bucks though

Please help me with my set up. a)Turnigy T600 Brushless Outrunner for 600 Heli (880kv) b)with 6s 3000 40 c or 2 6s 3000 40 c (total 6000 6s 40 c). c)100amp or 150 amp speed control (I HAVE THEM BOTH)? e)Pinion 10 T or 15 T(I HAVE THEM BOTH)?. Will this be a powerfull set up? I read in forums all the time 8 s set up. I have allready ordered these . THANK YOU
 markos51 178 points
if no one anwers that means that no one knows. After searcing a lot i realized that this motor has very low kw and need 8 s setup or high teeth pinion. With 6 s and the 18 t (The bigger i found) pinion of align 550 (specs same as 600) i will have 80 rms lower than normal. I hope it will work because both escs i have are 6 s.
 markos51 178 points
align 550 pinion does not fit. Finnaly pinion 0.7 0.6 mm 20 t. This give me the 2170 rotor rms with 6 s battery.

buy the 130a wattmeter,10t-100a,,15t -150a, High power is low teeth and high volts.a bit more head speed
 Steven 6 points
What size heli? How many teeth on the main gear? There are alot of variables that need to be cleared up first before anyone can give you a good answer

This motor is for hk600gt.i use esc in governor mode and head speed is enought for mid 3d.

How much angle should I have set it to in a timing of ESC?

does it fit the trex 600 frame is it better than align 600xl motor
 Steven 6 points
Keep the 600xl motor as it is stronger. You will have to trim the frames a bit to get this motor to fit and not rub. Its a fatty!

I put this in my Rex600 with Castle HiVolt ESC and 3600mAh Turnigy 8S (2x4S). Runs well with 14T pinion, headspeed 2200 and drops to 2000 when nearing empty. Gives about 6-7 minutes runtime with aerobatics. No hard 3d yet. Motor is about 45 right after flight (heats up to 55) even in 30 weather. A very nice setup for a T-Rex 600 you only need to widen the frame a bit to make it fit. Total weight of my 600 with this motor and 3600 8S is 3500g.

Had 6 flights with mine on HK 600 GT.
Heli prefoms very well with 8s setup. Motor heats up after about 4min of flying, but not like the Align 600L ones. 14t pin gear is fine, 15t should be better.
I don't think this is a 8s motor (heats up)

This motor works really well but is not fit of the Hk 600gt. Requires new pinion gear, spacers to bend the body so it will fit in (the motor dimensions are the same as the outside measure of the body) and drilling the holes in the mounting plate to be bigger for the bolts required. Motor runs nicely though
