Doubt it, you cut piano wire with an abrasive, file, hacksaw or certain bypass cutters. If it's real spring steel music wire it'll even wreck bolt-cutter jaws. I belive in the right tool for the job and even the best quality of these cutters are meant for nothing harder than anealed steel wire (tie wire) or copper. Buy a decent pair of "linesmans" pliers the have notches (bypass cutter) on one or both sides of the hinges for cutting hard wire.

For piano wire, get Klein 2200 (hardened) side cutters. The dike or lineman model will cut no prob. Needle nose just doesn't have leverage to cut spring steel. This particular plier (yellow side cutter) looks great for cutting small gauge CU wire. Why break out a hammer when there is a sharp tool like this.I woiuld like to see hardened pliers of all sorts. That would be crayzee with awesome leverage... Z Bender on the linemans,,, That would sell huge. Cutter and a bender in one...Don't ruin these pliers by cutting spring steel super rude dudes...
