I wonder why these aren't available as a "Super Combo" with everything you need in one box, (except tx/rx and battery). I would buy one in a heartbeat if I knew I wouldn't have to hunt down motor mounting screws, pinion, which gyro, which servos, etc. Just give us a complete kit. PLEASE!

No, no motor mount screws. You're going to have to get the screws for your motor.

I may be missing something, but is anyone else having an issue getting the belt run over the gear in the boom mount assembly? This is my first belt heli, but looking at all the Trex pics, the shaft doesn't go all the way through like it does on the HK450 Pro.
   kcsound (67%)
1 ** I am having the same problem. Help!
   Garfield2412 (48%)
you have to remove the 6-8 screws that fix the tail-holder, then spread the CF a little bit and get the whole plastic holder out.
then you can seperate the plastic holder in two parts. take off the gear/shaft, move the belt over and put it together with the holder.
stick the holder (with boom mounted) back in the CF, tighten the screws.
works perfekt, i had the same problem, but it's like a puzzle :-) you have to figure that out *-)
   Bruce (50%)
That worked perfectly! Thanks!
   recycle (84%)
You must take the whole tail apart to get the belt in...

Hey guys, I'm assembling my new 450 GT Pro. So far so good**I'm very happy with the quality of parts so far**but I have a few questions. 1. I bought the Turnigy DS480 servo for tail control, based on some recommendations on this site* now I can't figure out how to mount it. Seems like the servo mount is designed for a larger servo? Or am I missing something? 2. Motor screws are too small for the Typhoon 2218H motor that I ordered, assuming that the two screws in the bag with pinion and set screw are for motor mounting. Have I bought the wrong motor for this heli, or do I need to look elsewhere for mounting screws? Thanks, Bob 2.
   rossco34 (84%)
There is a micro servo converter available, google it. (or make up an adapter plate out of s**** alloy)

Motor screws are 3mm metric
   kcsound (67%)
Cool, thanks...I think I'll make my own adapter.
   reduans (58%)
you have to order tail servo mount. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8550&Product_Name=Part_#_F023_Tail_Servo_Mount i found in other forum.. they use pc casing screws for this motor.. i'm not try yet...

The screw that goes trough the tailfin and holds the thailunit, is broken.
There is a piece of the screw that sticks into it, witch parts do I have to order to replace this?
I see that there are now parts under HK450Pro Parts
   rossco34 (84%)
I'd just buy either the tail boom assembly for $18.68.

That way you get a new complete boom, belt, drive gear, mounting & tail gearbox pre-assembled. Keep the current ones for spares that you'll eventually need.

Here's the link: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11595&Product_Name=GT450PRO_Tail_Assembly_(Belt_Version)

or if that doesn't work, search for "GT450proG003A" (for some reason it's been listed under > HK Helicopter > HK450 Parts)

I hope that helps!:)

Anyone please tell me how much this kit weight w/ packing when arrive at yr home.
The specs says net wt is 450gr, packing by 997gr but when click to buy, it auto adds an extra long box weight 397gr more so total much be 1k4, is this a way to take some extra charge? how can a kit 450gr w/ take off weight only at 780gr and buyer have to pay shipping cost of 1400gr for kit w/o eletric part
Jason please come in explain,
Thank you
   rbizetto (92%)
If you add just the heli to cart the shipping will stay at 19.95 dollars, but if you put any more product in the cart will be added extra weight and freight will become more expensive, it is best to buy the heli in a freight systems and electronics in another .
   Deano (70%)
It's all about cubic weight - basically even if a massive box is as light as a feather, it will still take up space in the hold of the freight aircraft. You have to pay for filling that space with your parcel even if it doesn't weigh much.
   123644 (60%)
It seems you are not all clear with my issue: when HK charge an item of NW450gr for 997gr shipping cost that is already including cubic weight of massive box and I total agreed to pay for 19.95 of shipping charge for 1 kit alone.
But issue here is when I add one kit only to my cart, it automatic add an extra box of appox 397gr more so 19.95 cannot cover for total 997+397=1394gr and I was denied to purchase because total weight over the limmit 999gr.
I wish to buy this item for long time but totally stuck at this crazy policy of HK. Quite strange,
Where are you Jason, could you pls look in and tell me why
   Hawk flyer (10%)
I order two HK450 pro the added box is because the box that the heli comes in would be severly crushed if shipped in it's own box. I was really surprised how good this heli really is for the price. Com'on now this ain't no Align Heli but for the price no way to beat it. Just shop around and you'll see. By the way do order the Align tail rotor lever arm which will smooth out vibration

   mudgutts (24%)
i'll be using a Turnigy 2836-3700 motor and a K-force 40amp ESC. the HTX900 are good for cyclic and a D922MG for the tail. however, the D922MG is physicaly smaller that the mount, so you'll have to make a mounting plate.
   Richard (40%)
anything in the 400 series heli will power this 450 series heli , and probably a better option using 400 parts to drive the 450 if your a novice imo. But generaly there is plenty of motors here to choose from in the 450 series helis if your a pro , look in the 450 class parts

Frederico (92%)
What is the best, the belt or torque tube?
   rbizetto (92%)
Each has its advantages and disadvantages, the torque tube is more accurate, uses less battery due to less friction, is quieter, but it is delicate, a newcomer spent good money on spare parts, for landing a badly done will spoil the gears of the torque tube, the belt on the other hand requires less maintenance but lacks the advantages of the torque tube.
   kenobi36 (80%)
Torq tube gears brake in any touch of rear rotor to the grond thats why I don't reccomend for begginers but it runs more smooth and less maintaince so its better for advanced users wich fly lot and don't crash.
   domdom (49%)
in general, torque tube is more efficient, but easier to break. belt drive is a little less efficient, but easier to repair and forgives hard landings. as a beginner i'd choose the belt drive
   ahsis (26%)
better rudder control with torgue, less expensive repair and more durable on damage with belt.
   Deano (70%)
I use the belt drive because there are no replacement parts for the torque tube version. One of the guys I fly with has the torque tube and it flies great. It has less friction by the looks of things but it more brittle due to the little teeth on the gears.
   jeeep (0%)
I prefer the belt. More resistant if the blades touch the ground with tail. Costs more to repair parts

And I think the difference in torque should not be very great.
It depends on the flight as you do, but I have 2 with my belt and I'm very satisfied
   paolo (-11%)
Hi the belt one will benefit in case of crash while the torque tube will have to take the strain, also more parts more maintenance and friction due to the gears* so if it is your first go for this*but the torque tube to me still a very well engineered helcopter with a difference over the others on rigidity and very few and bigger screws compared to the se version where they tend to strip. thanks
   Kostas (56%)
Belt if you are just starting to learn.
   mudgutts (24%)
they say torque tube is best, but if you are new to heli's, then belt is best. the belt has more give if you touch the ground with the tail blades. were as the torque tube would most likely stip the teeth on the gears.
and, i guess, once you get better at flying and landing, you could always buy the torque tube parts and change it over.
   Davor (69%)
belt for beginners, torque for 3D

LARRYB (24%)
Great item. Hope HK will stock some parts soon. 3 things I have already noticed. the body and tail are PRO compatiable, but the rotor head is not. Not that it is bad, but the main shaft is not the PRO main shaft and the main rotor head is the SPORT version. I have replaced the main rotor shaft with the PRO version and it will fit.
I hope HK gets some replacement parts soon as they are cheaper than Align parts.
   kenobi36 (80%)

   kallenwestbrook (84%)
they v2 kit was, so im guessing the ro will be to, one side of the link has a bigger opening than the other. The big side goes to the inside.
   Kostas (56%)
one side of the ball link is larger than the other(marginally so) the large side goes towards the ball.

look closer, you can see that one side on the link has a smaller hole. the other side is the side you clip on.

3. How long the flying time?

saudi arabia
   kid_spl85 (22%)
hi dominic im also from KSA. riyadh specifically. if you'll gona buy this you have to build it youself,,,maybe i can help you with that! you can get everything here at HC. i assume this is you first heli so the price to boot will be a bit high, my estimate would be >500 USD
   metoo (75%)
I would say around $375 including shipping, a charger (Accucel-6), power supply (made from a computer power supply), 2 batteries (Turnigy 3S 2200mah), spare blades (fiberglass), and a few other spares, motor (2215H), servos (3pack of 1800A) digital tail sero, the heli, 11T pinion, HK401 gyro, 40A ESC, radio HK-7x, and a pitch gauge. Sure, you can spend a lot more on servos and Spektrum or Futaba radio, but it's not a must....at least as a beginner.
   kid_spl85 (22%)
$375 for that setup was good IMO! and it is a pretty decent one! as for you dominic, try it and you might become an addict! hehehehe!!! and if you decided to buy one just be careful this is prohibited in KSA

I regret I bougt a CopterX V2 clone some months ago. I should have waited for this baby instead.

But I will get one when they are in stock again! Probably more of them later on since I'm not that good of a helicopter driver! Hee hee!
2/3/2010
rcjpth (91%)
one is belt one is torque tube - TT is more expensive to fix and very sensitive to the vibe resulting to your gyro degrading its performance.

I already had the Tarot 450 pro - insane performance and lots of power to challenge your skill level. I just don't like the cost of torque tube and torque tube front/rear gears.

I will make my 450 pro hybrid whereas it can be interchangable with the tt and belt driven 450 pro. That makes awesome kit and the most affordable helicopter and performance wise!
   affffa (38%)
Any direct link to a manual that is correct?

   Hermansjoerd (31%)
its a combo between a trex 450 pro frame head etc. (loop up the manual in google) and the tail of a normal V2! so trex 450 v2 good luck

The main rotor and rear rotor is the Sport version, not Pro.
Parts are also compatible with T-rex, and the Tarot.
Just be careful what is PRO, and the Sport.
   LARRYB (24%)
I agree with you, the main rotor housing is a T Rex 450 SPORT. HK does NOT offer a replacement for this item. You will need to purchase the Align part #HS1296A.

will there be a torque conversion for this kit?
   Demon (82%)
There is a Torque Tube version being sold... Same price, No point in Converting if you can buy it as a TT off the bat for the same price!
   sendorm (53%)
i know there is a torque tube version. What i would like is to be able to compare the two without buying two kits.
With a torque tube conversion kit i can quickly compare the two versions without having to change the electronics, so that i for one can see for myself if torque tube is really more efficient, great performer esc.

It depends on the pilot. Torque tube is more efficient, better on the motor and battery and will auto extremely well. It is easier to break though and more prone to stripping the gears or bending the tube if hard landed or crashed.

Com'on HK - bring the parts for your HK450 Pro belt drive on - I will be ordering bunch, probably 2 x 450 pro tail (belt) units, 2 boom block with belt drive gear assembly. And that will be AWESOME for the hybrid mod of my Align 450 Pro - performance wise plus saving!!!!
