I assume the wheel stoppers below will work with it. I wish they would add these to the related items.
See:
Landing Gear Wheel Stopper (10pcs)
To suit 2mm Shaft
PRODUCT ID: 016-00301x10
I have the 1.2 and these, I rough up the metal a bit and then use heat shrink to save on weight. I haven't had any wheels come off yet, a small drop of CA to reinforce, if necessary. Added a pic in the 'files' tab for you.
What it's the recommended wheel size for this strut? What else I need to buy to keep wheels in place?
My plane is 70cm (27.6") wingspan and about 250g.
Thanks
I usually use a 30 mm diameter wheel in my foamies about 1 meter wingspan and 600gr flight weight, I think that a 20 or 25 mm will fit fine in your project. Hope help you.
I have used these: www.link 36mm wheels for a plane of similar weight to yours. Works well. You also need to get stop collars such as these www.link to hold the wheels on the struts.
The hardest thing with these struts is fixing them to the plane such that they will take a bit of force on landing. If you use a single screw it will rotate around. I made a little housing
Yeh same deal here. They can be easily be fixed back into shape just be careful not to totally ruin them. I wouldent suggest putting these on heavy models as they bend easily.
You can glue to a piece of wood, and all this to the fuselage... like a "cuaderna". It is the easier way... It is good for the structural of the plane and only you put up a little of the final weight...
you can glue 1 piece of balsa with a channel like the top part of the Landing strut ( a carved out 'U' ) between another 2 pieces of balsa, then use a screw to mount the landing ( put the landing wire in the channel the screw it near the inside of the 'U' ).
You will need 2 piece balsa wood and epoxy.
Just fret a way for the strut on the wood with a scalpel. After take on the other balsa wood and glue it with epoxy. Like this: HK-204
So take the neck of the strut between two balsa wood and glue it with epoxy.
After you have cut place for the balsa wood in the EPP foam with knife or scalpel and glue in with odorless foam safe glue.
Like this: HK-127
15/12 .. I guess this will arrive soon for now i have waited 30 days. My Order was placed 15/11/2009, and with my luck i must missed it with some day. Hmm not fun waiting for this in a order worth 689 $.. But hopfully it will arrive anyday now.
Good landing gear but the U groove above is not flat..wish it was flat for easy mounting

2 are OK, 2 are not symetrically bent, and the 5th is bad with arms of different length. Some says up to 600g, personnaly I would not trust them for a plane above 300g.

Suitable for aprox 300g planes, the wire is not so strong. The wire is a bit fragile, can be broken when bending

It is not symetrical, you need to fix with nippers. But it is very useful for 300-400 gr. epp or depron planes.
