Bit of a nub question but does the receiver require its own power source?
 p.chats 80 points
Yup, but if your using electric planes the poer to the receiver usually comes direct from the ESC ( speed controller ) unless the ESC is an OPTO one in which case you will need a seperate (4.8 volt is best ) power supply. Hope this helps

Thanks heaps, This helps a lot. Will be running it from an ESC I will check it is not OPTO. Thanks again

Hi All..
Can anybody please tell me what the range on this transmitter is and if it can be used with the Frsky DiY Mod ??
Thankyou..
 p.chats 80 points
Range will depend on your choosen Receiver, Full Range will more than likely have your model well out of sight in the air.

Read your manual and if you don't have one download from Futaba website. Plus the Futaba site's FAQ are a good help too

 reggispinheiro 7 points

Hi! Has anyone replaced the original battery with a LiPo or LiFe one? Which one would be OK with the voltage and fit in the battery compartment? The original one is OK, but takes way too long to charge. Thanks in advance.
 marky15 10 points
I use this one with the turnigy 3s 1450mah Transmitter Pack without any problem. Fits perfectly
 Flyingphil 10 points
I'm using a 3 cell LiPo for a couple of jears now, without any problems too. my battery is slightly larger than the turnigy one (Turnigy 1450mAh 3S 11.1v Transmitter Lipoly Pack) but it has exactly the same thicknes. Maby i'll buy it as second battery.

What about Mode 2 to Mode 1??? I have received a transmitter that is mode 2 and would like to change it to mode 1. I take it that it is not as easy as the other way round?? :( -Mark.
 ljuaneda 59 points
it is the same, open the back cover, take the spring from left to put it right or take it from right and put it left, close it, and change the configuation menu from 2 to 1, enjoy
 Mgp1970 10 points
My father (who has the unit) has done this no problems but had to still swap the rudder and aileron servos on the receiver to get MODE 1 ????
 Mesut AKIN 153 points

Hi, just want to make sure this transmitter can be used with the cheap ORNG8F $29.00 8 channel receivers that they sell here. As this is only a 6 channel transmitter. Also, does it have a ratchet throttle for planes. Thanks
 Flyingphil 10 points
If you mean this one: OrangeRx Futaba FASST Compatible 8Ch 2.4Ghz Receiver you can use it. Since i burned the original i use only this one, without any problems.
tinman  156 points - 8/11/2010

Is this radio MAAA approved ?? - seems to be a problem with some radios not being approved for use by MAAA in Australia ??
Richard  13 points - 2/2/2010

I bought a Futaba 6EX transmitter**-is there ANY of the 2.4Ghz receivers that HK sells that are compatible?

10 thumbs up!
Great little radio with some very useful functions. I changed mine from mode 1 to mode 2 in a couple of minutes - open the back, move the ratchet from RH stick to LH stick, move the spring and then change the radio setting from mode 1 to 2 as described in the instruction booklet. No sweat.

Yes it can be changed to mode2. You have to change one arm and a spring. I could do easily as I had a mode2 transmitter for comparison.

But beware! Check if the antenna cable is save! I loosened it by accidence!

I own this RC for two years and am very satisfied. Please watch out when connecting the battery. If you do it the wrong way the transmitter is gone! The minus is on the right, the plus on the left. If you want FlyCamOne 3 it is better to choose a Spectrum as Futaba frequency hopping interferes with fco3.
