Important. The TURNIGY 9X has been reflashed with the new v2 firmware, fixing previous menu and mixing issues. This firmware flash is only available from our TURNIGY 9X system as we flash each unit in our office before it is shipped. Purchases of any other rebranded version of the TURNIGY 9X will not have the latest firmware and patches (even the OEM factory does not have these updates).
NOTE: "SWITCH ERROR" means you have one of the switches in the wrong position when you turn the radio on. It is not a fault.
Hi, you can use an rx/tx battery that has a low discharge, like the Turnigy 1450mAh 3S 11.1v Transmitter Lipoly Pack. Just be aware to plug the battery in the right position otherwise your receiver will be damaged. I lost one like that.
Roberto out of the box you use 8 x AA either one use or rechargeable batteries. HobbyKing have a great rang of batteries. The have low shelf discharge (LSD) batteries and some great 1.6 volt rechargeables (Turnigy AA Ni-ZN 1500mAh High Voltage PRODUCT ID: 9169000003 ). Which work great. Later you can use a range of lipos. BUT some mod of the connection is required.

my throttle starts from midway .i have tried to add trim and even try end point adjustments .there is not even the DR expo settings for theottle in this radio.can you plz help me i am having a great problem in flying my plane.plz support ur ans with vid if possible.
I have just installed the backlight and the frsky DHT 8ch DIY telemetry compatabale transmitter module and bought the Frsky D8R-11 plus 8ch receiver with telemtery. Can someone please advise what is the best software upgrade i can use? A link would help?
I use the er9x - frsky firmware for T9X and it is great. It has additional menu for the telemetry where you can display the Tx/Rx RSSI values. Here's the link "code. google. com /p/er9x/" select er9x-frsky further down.
Hi there. I have just installed the backlight and the frsky DHT 8ch DIY telemetry compatabale transmitter module and bought the Frsky D8R-11 plus 8ch receiver with telemtery. I am looking to get on screen telemtry on my turnigy 9x LCD screen but no luck?? Can somebody please advise what I need to do?
You must not only build in the frsky module, you have to do the telemetry hardware mod of your turnigy 9x and your frsky. Just google this and you will see, what else you must do. You need the er9x-telemetry firmware. Hope this helps you.
Before someone gives you one opinion which may or may not work for your application, go to RCgroups**** and type in Turnigy 9x Range you will get a few answers based on different conditions. FrSky module will give you better 2km range in the 9X which was the route I went with and then telemetry will also be available to you with Er9x Firmware.
Hi Robert, what you will get qwwith the purchase of this radio is a box and the radio itself. If you want to use it for sim, I recommend getting the Wireless 9 in1 Simulator Adapter PRODUCT ID: 26000002 as well as it comes witl all the hardware needed for a sim. The best I have used is the PhoenixRC, which works well with the Wireless 9 in1 Simulator Adapter.
Fantastic radio, a few tips though, I went through and resoldered and heat shrinked all the pots and switches in mine, also installed the backlight, highly recommend doing that, especially at only like 4.99! Very reliable, oh! And get yourself a transmitter lipo or li-fe pack! Extraordinary life!
Have a lot of lipos tht do better this job...get off alcaline batterys...****o to the evolution....just lokk of for transmitter pack of lipos tht have low C discharge......they have at the name, transmiter pack, and one 3s 2000mah, will last at minimum 4 hour of use..and is rechargeble at y comom lipo charger...
Now, I understand a lot of people like to mod this so that they can upgrage the firmware to their particular ones. Would someone mind sumarising the benefeits of each of the different firmwares? Is there a possible way of getting more model memory by putting a different firmware???
Getting more model memory is just one of the advantages of upgrading to er9x, you get 16 model memory, the default firmware gives only 8. With er9x, everything is configurable, menus can be easily understood. And a lot more tutorial video in youtube. Summarizing the benefits of each custom firmware is a bit lengthy. If you're not into reading, er9x and other custom firmware is not for you. I advise you to buy the 9XR instead as it comes with a variant of firmware.
yea, Understand. I have been looking at the 9XR, but at the moment Im looking at the cost of setting up with either of them and thinking "Im pretty sure the receivers I already have will work with this controller, so setup would be cheaper when I don't have to buy new modules and new receivers." I was then umming and arring about whether to get this or the other, I know its a lot better controller and has better software, but then the thought hit me, "If I can mod this one to get more model memory it should work..." and all the other features of the new firmware would also be great. At the moment im using a little cheap 6 chanel controller thats configurable for everything i've thought of, but the catch is you need your computer with you and i'd prefer to have a controller that can remember that stuff now... Any links to further information about the firmware would be appreciated aswell. Thankyou!
"Im pretty sure the receivers I already have will work with this controller" is the common mistake.
9xV2 module is compatible with only few HK and Turnigy V2 receivers. Do not repeat my mistake. Go ahead and choose 9XR with module or combo compatible with your existing receivers.
I use HK-T6 V2 Receivers at the moment. And I'm pretty sure there isn't any modules for the 9XR that will connect with them... But after looking at a few reviews im kindof leaning towards the 9XR, but not sure...
HK-T6 V2 is OK. It will work OK with 9x stock module. My mistake was that I ordered 9x and then found that there is no PPMSUM receiver available for it and stock RX is too big and too heavy...
so I migrated to FrSky module with D4R2 RX.
And now have turnigy module and receivers(Two!) unused with feeling that I was a bit silly nub.
So whats peoples thoughts on which TX to get? I understand the 9XR's switches are a little too far away from where your hands normally go, but the trainer switch on this one is backwards (hold it for Teacher control) and it doens't have the nice customisable Firmware and you have to hack to to have the ability to flash new firmware into it. On a scale of 1-10 how hard do people rate that mod? Whats peoples general ideas on which TX would be better for me given that I want a comfortable, reliable (I don't think I particularly mind replacing things like trim switches every now and then depending on how often the mod has to be done), and I like the idea of having a definite click when you press the buttons (just something about me)?
From what I've gathered the 9xr is a bit more tacky, and plastic feeling than the 9x for the price a bit of 'hacking' isn't so bad, and I find, if you know what your doing, you don't even need to update firmware!
hello all. i know this is an airplane and heli tx by origin but since it is so configurable is it usefull for anythig else ? i am looking for a tx for a hydraulic rc excavator. so what i need is a mix function to drive like a tank with 1 stick. plus i need both sticks to center by itself. shall i go for this transmitter or look for a car/truck futaba fc16 or so ?
With alternative er9x firmware you can mix whatever you like, anyway you like.
As for stick self centering... you would need to replace friction palte on throttle stick with
centering arm and spring... unfortunately this two are not offered as spare parts, the spring is not a big problem to find some, but arm is a headache.. you can cut one from piece of plastic using arm from other stick as a sample, this arms for left and right stick are identical.
Hi Travis, do you mean just the red covered was blown away or including the metal tube and antenna itself? If you were left with the gray wire only, don't use the receiver. If the red hot shrink wrap was all that's gone, just wrap it again with another to protect the antenna lead wire. You can also replace it with wire coming from removable antenna of 2.4 GHz wireless routers. Look for guides on youtube on how to do it.
The gray wire is all that is left. It still is attached to the receiver and it still seems to get descent range - I just got back from the flight field. What do I need to search for on YouTube to fix it correctly? I have a spare 2.4 GHz wireless router that I can steal the antennas off of to do this.
The red part is the dipole antenna, the receiver gets most of its signal from the transmitter, thus further ranges.
get a replacement is the easiest option
you can use the 9x www.link or hobbyking 6ch reciever v2 (lighter www.link
RX mentioned above is ID: HK-T6A-V2,
But You can replace antenna with frsky one (ID: FRANT15)...
Or repair damaged one.. Your antenna grey cable is coaxial cable, On the working end
verify that nonshielded part has 31.25mm length.
(See frsky antenna photo as example)
If length is not correct, then remove outside
insulation and shielding, leaving 31.25 mm of unshielded insulated wire at the end.
I have a 9x that seems to bind ok light stable not flashing but I have no contols of servos please can somebody help is there something I have not set in system setup I received this last week from the global site
Yellow wire on the servo goes towards the top or the RX, as in where the labels are, also if you are looking at it form the top with connectors on the side closer to you from left to right is: ailerons, elevator, throttle, rudder, aux 5, aux 6 etc....
you can use 8*AA, or ZIPPY Flightmax 2500mAh Transmitter Pack (Futaba/JR), also turnigy nano-tech 2200mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack also Turnigy 2650mAh 3S 1C LLF Tx Pack (Futaba/JR) and HobbyKing 1500mAH LiFe 3S 9.9v Transmitter pack and Rhino 2620mAh 3S 11.1v Low-Discharge Transmitter Lipoly Pack. is not particular battery pack. the choice is yours :)
Ivo you have to hate that. Mine beeps at 8.9 too. Yet it runs fine all the way down to 8 v on screen (because it under reads by 0.5v). So you can do a couple of thing. WORST is to cut the speaker. Next is to flash the menu to a better menu that lets you change when the beep starts. Messy1 Or you may do whet I did and fit a Lipo Transmiter battery and noW the Voltage has not dropped below 11v in 2 months. The early warning will now be a good thing also. BATTERY LIKE: ZIPPY Flightmax 2500mAh Transmitter Pack (Futaba/JR) (SKU: ZIP25003S3C)
Mine starts buzzing at about 8 volts and on my Dunbar just testing to see how much time I had after buzzing started it kept going with most of the full range, with the backlight on, until 7.8 ish easily
I have a v2, what recivers can i use with this?
i want a small 4ch reciver with good range. i now have a 6ch HK-T6A-V2. What do i look at when im serching for recivers that fits this system?
Jojan I only know of one other but it is 3 channel (Hobby King GT-2 2.4Ghz Receiver 3Ch SKU: HK-GT2_RX)
whit limited range (meant for surface models 200m). I have had good success with Hobby King 2.4Ghz Receiver 6Ch V2 (SKU: HK-T6A-V2), removing the case and heat shrinking the receiver! Please consider.
I'd give this radio a 5 star rating but there are a few minor things that subtract points. -One is that putting the batteries is a hassle, the 8 AA cell holder is OK, but the cable gets on the way of the cover and it takes a while to be able to close it, there's a lot of pinching of the cables involved so I shouldn't wonder if the insulation fails sooner or later requiring a replacement of the cables. -Second is the very annoying and loud BEEEEP!!! you get with every-single-click you do on the buttons, seriously stressing to set up the radio at home, not good for conjugal life. To fix that I cut the leg that goes from a transistor to the speaker and added a 220 Ohm resistor in between. -Third, no manual comes with the radio. -Fourth setting up a V-Tail was a mind bending affair, I succeeded but I couldn't grok the logic of the procedure.
Besides those things it's a good product.

I purchased this transmitter & Assan XJ8 module from HC. First I got around the switch error bug (thanks to that reviewer) For me the Assan XJ8 just flashes red once on start up, but gives no steady red LED & will not go into pairing mode. Assan say they don't know the problem & suggest putting XJ8 in another TX (I don't have one) Anyone know how to test if TGY 9X or Assan is the problem? Thanks

Great range - over 3000m, but realy to big receiver. Also dont like to small battery compartment, and antenna linked with wire. You Also can't mix with AUX cahnnels - you can oly mix first 4 cahnells. No manual - It could be at least link at this product to download manual for Turnigy 9x. Also don,t like that this transsmiter in almost never in stock, or that there smaller 6 ch receivers I waiting for more 3 months So from me only 3 stars.
