hi..what Programing Card i need for this esc?
SteveM  13 points - 3/30/2013

Have seen from instructions that it is necessary to initially have throttle stick high before powering up esc, waiting for certain beeps, then lowering again so that the full throttle range can be read by the esc. - Question....... do I need to do tthis every flight, or does it memorise the last range ot saw?? - Please advise. - Rgds, Steve

No, only the first time. After that the ESC works well!!

Hi Top Flight, do you mind share your Set_Up on the 600 Airwolf ( Cylic servos, rudder servo and gyro, motor and pinion, battery size, BEC and your target head speed ). I am currently building the HK600gt ( for normal flying, maybe some mild 3D, but most likely it will turn into a scale 600 Airwolf like yours ). I am leaning toward the following electronics [ Turnigy T600 1100Kv W/16T, Turnigy K-Force 150A Opto 2-6S with Turnigy 2 to 1 professional program box, BEC still not sure, 5000mAh 6s 30c to 35c, Turnigy 1258TG Digital Titanium Gear Servo 57g/13.5kg/.10sec for cylics (3x), Turnigy 1256TG Digital Titanium Gear Servo 57g/8.5kg/.08sec for rudder With Turnigy Head Lock & Standard Gyro (Digital/Analog) combo ]. I would like to have your inputs and maybe some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rick, I have same setup except the servos and gyro. I have made maiden flight 2 days ago. i did over 8 minutes hovering and lazy setup movments, and the battery was recharged with 3150 mAh later* so it means I'll be able to do 7 minutes flights per 5000 mAh pack - flying it wildly. Regler was warm - not hot, motor the same. This machine flies surprisingly stable with with Assan Ga 410 gyro! I am happy !

I'm using this esc on my gt 600 airwolf & have gotten lots of flight time up to 8 to 10 min. I never had it to get hot even with the cooling fan off on 6s w/ 2s for the 5A 7.5 bec. Now I'm building A T45 goshawk cmp 90 mm 12 blade fan " everything I got from HK hasn't falled yet, this is good esc but good for 2-6s . Good flying. If esc is beeping check your bec to if got power to your rec , oh you don't have to cut any wires by speed control beep till I switch on bec & I'm ready to fly & get the programer it makes easy to set up. Happy flying.

Hello!
Can i use this ESC on Car ??? With 6S batt?
 frogs 161 points
You would be better off with an esc designed for use in a car as air plane/helicopter esc's do not have reverse and generally have trouble starting cars and produce a lot of cogging when moving from a stand still.

I found an exact copy of this ESC for about $91-$77 at hobby partz. You could try a price war on this. Every single detail is exact from the resistor on the black wire to the specs. The only difference is the label, and heatsink color. Serch for:

can some one tell me how to instal this esc with TURNIGY 5-7.5A (8~42v). and the problem is my esc comes has an additional auxiliary red wire soldered with a resistor inline???? or any video for this installing this esc
 frogs 161 points
I assume the TURNIGY 5-7.5A (8~42v) is a bec of some kind and all you have to do is wire it in parallel with the esc power cables. The extra fed wire is there to pre-charge the capacitors so when you plug in the main power you do not get a large spark between the battery and esc. To use the pre charge circut plug in the side that does not have the auxiliary wire (on mine this is the red positive ( ) side), then plug in the aux. wire before plugging in the other main power wire you can leave the aux. wire pugged in while using the esc.

I use k force 150a opto on a hk600gt with t600 1100w motor. After an overheat (140 amp) on hard 3d the motor screams and do not start. If i connect the 130 amper meter the system works with no problem. I changed timming and everything i could change but nothing. So now i have always connected the power meter if i want to fly.Does it have to do imperiance with it?
 Kellyann 16223 points
markos51 sorry to say your motor is burnt out. One of the stator wire loops are shorted. So try a different motor. I hope this helps. I is only partly burnt out but if use will stop working. You can rewire it.
 markos51 178 points
thanks for your help.I used this combination with amp meter and works fine.Last m 30 days i got new battries and the problem disapeared.I you make a search in youtube EAHK (HK 600GT SPORT FLYING)you will see how it works.Greetings from Greece.

Nice to know. So it was a low power battery out Problem. Good to know. Thanks
 markos51 178 points
I really do not know what happend.I had the problem with 2 5000 turnigy 6s 25 and 30 c. I gave the batteries to a friend to fly a big airplain (need 12s) but the plain crashed and my batteries destroyed. These batteries any way could not fly 3d but ok for sport flying. With new batteries turnigy 5000 6s 40c the problem desapears.I think few timew at the start i had to help the rotor start but 3 months now no problem at all. So i am still wanderinf what was the problem. Thanks anyway.Markos

markos51 get it. electrics??? It is all hidden who know make one work and the same fail.. It is all good for you!

after a long time i have the same problem. If i use the amp meter in serie no problem. I have tried both turnigy 880 and 1100 kv with the same results.Anyway i fly it but this combination is a battery killer. I have a trex 700e now and i fly 7 min while with the same batteries i have not more than 4 min with hk600.The Cheaper will cost more finally.

I have now a Align mx600 1220 kv with this esc. The same problem. The motor start with screem and overheat if fails to start. Finally esc has the problem. I think sending back for repair. I have tried every possible setup.Nothing different. Any idea as upgrading or.... ?

I have the 150A K-Force running on 6S, with the T600 1100kv motor. Default setting 12kHz and timing 15 degrees. Sport flying, motor a little warm and ESC barely warm. I have flown with this setting for weeks with no problem. I fly 9 minutes with two 6S 3000mAh 20C in parallel. I recently changed the timing to 7.5 degrees and 8kHz, everything runs smoother without loss of power. After flying for like 6 minutes the ESC just stopped working for like 4 seconds and started working again. No brownout. I set it back to the default values but it did this shutdown thing again. Motor and ESC still cool. I don't know what is wrong. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/images/em_c

I'm using this ESC with Turnigy T600 1100kv motor. When I run the motor from throttle 0% to 50% everything is alright. Motor is working. But when I go up over 50% ESC is blinking fast and motor does not accelerate more and continue with the speed at 50% throttle. I have Governor On. Tried timing of 7.5 and 15 degrees. I have soft start, too. What could be the problem? In the documentation nothing is written about fast LED blinking during motor working.
 I.Ralenekov 138 points
From the manual: "If the red LED flashes very quickly (2 times per second), means the input voltage is too low or too high, please check your battery’*s voltage." Enjoy :)

 I.Ralenekov 138 points
Also you must perform the "throttle range setting" as described in the manual: throttle stick up, power on, tone, after 2 seconds "beep beep", throttle stick down, long "beep" and you should be ready to go.
 Vassil 13 points
Still has a problem. I tried many times to set the throttle range. After that I get two short "beep" as is written in documentation. Input voltage is not low, too. Neither is high. It is set to 6S and the battery is 6S.

I have this esc on a HK600Gt with Turnigy 880 kw. After 30 batteries of fine flying the motor scream at the start and the esc becomes warm. I do not know how will behave on the air because it happens in my house but from 0 until 20% throtle the motor is out of syngr and starts with scream.Everything on esc is default setting. Can some one help me? Thanks
 markos51 178 points
The problem exist only on the start.Flying had no problem. The only thing i noticed was that everything was warmer than before. I ordered an esc programming card to ajust the timming.
 markos51 178 points
well problem goes on.Some thing is happening with programming and there is the possibility that i have changed something by mistake. Now the heli flies but after 2 minutes the motor stop working (3 times auto rotation from 50 m) The esc make some beep like entering programming. Everything is just warm.Receiver and battery is ok What programming can cause this? I hope soon i will have the programming card and i will see. Till now can some one help me?
 markos51 178 points
i moved esc on a hk500 gt. The same problem. After 1 minute the motor stop. New heli means no receiver problem,no baad connection. If i hit esc it reset and count the battery cells. The problem is from inside. I will wait for the programming card for a final test and probably i will sent it back for garanty. Any suggestions?
 markos51 178 points
with programming card i reset the esc. After 5 fligths no problem.Probably i made wrong programming before. The esc is perfect.
 markos51 178 points
It still works fine.I found also out that black wire that connect to the receiver was half cutted. Now i can explain the autorotations. Till now perfect esc.
 Toss117 5 points
i differ on what you are using if a big scale heli you programmed this esc to soft start

will this hold up with 2 5 cell batterys in ceries? 10 cell?
 bigbirdpilot 5 points
As it state in the description: Input Voltage: 2-6 cells lithium battery or 5-18 cells NIMH battery.
 frogs 161 points
most likely not, the capacitors are only rated for 35 volts and I am sure other components may fail at that voltage as well.

I bought 4 of these ESC and I intend to use with 4 motors 80-100A (go kart), someone can say if this is compatible with LiFePO4 packs or Pb battery deep cycle.....???????
 frogs 161 points
you can use anything within the voltage range of the esc (7.4 volts to 22.2 volts) and you could probably get away with 24 volts for Pb's.

Can I use this ESC in a car starter box for .21 engines?
 samith 502 points
not use for starter box. you can use battery for brushmotor for starter box
 frogs 161 points
this thing is designed to run motors that are way more powerful than a .21 engine I am using this on my electric scooter! I would go for a smaller brushed system for a starter box.

What is the difference between an OPTO ESC and HV ESQ? Is there any difference in continuous amperage or something? Thanks.
 Doglao 7 points
Opto is little component that has internaly an LED that emits a beam of light to a phototransistor that triggers the pulses to the engine. this led is activate by side of control, and phototransistor switches high currents to the motor. This technics insulate de control side of the power side. The HV think uses MOSFETS type power transistor which is triggered directly by the control side through the gate of transistors.

Im running this 150a speed control with the monster 7000w turnergy motor. Should I use high timming. I know with some it will burn the motor up if the right timing isnt selected. Thanks All!! PS goin on a skateboard. Waiting for wire and connectors to complete from HC.
 KEVIN 258 points
high timing is recommended on larger current out put brushless motors as on 5 pole motors
 frogs 161 points
For one, I would say BE CAREFUL no to burn this esc with that motor as this esc is made for a motor half that size. I do agree with kevin that you should use high timing.

I bought this ESC for a specific high current application. Running a JS-1400/Wemotec 609/4S pack for testing to go in a race jet on the build. This ESC ran this setup without fail at around 120A or so and 2000W. Plan to take it up a notch to 5S but shouldn't be a issue. This ESC is solid!

I used this ESC on a Trex 600, first with the Align 600L motor and then the Scorpion 4025-1100 at around 90 amps and it has been great.
The soft start is better than the Align ESC and it barely gets warm.
This is a lot of ESC for the price.
