Does anybody know if it would be possible to convert a nine eagles solo pro 228 FB copter to full brushless.I would think the ADH300XL outrunner would do the trick!!!!!And maybe the 1811 for the tail!
How would that motor work on a nine eagles solo pro228 with a shaft driven tail rotor? That is after you remove all the factory stuff! It is my understanding that shaft driven or direct motor drive, that tail walk is a big problem.
a 5x3 gws prop on 2 cells draws a fraction under 6A...so it just keeps inside its specification max current..and should be ok with a 6A esc... and its thrust is good, lots of vertical for a 110gm AUW model...
Anyone know how to take off that prop saver? I put it on and now want to use the other prop adapter, but it doesn't want to come off the shaft. Seems stuck even with the two black screws off. Kinda weird.
Wazza_99 well done. I was going to recommend you try drifting out the shaft from the motor and saver. But what you did is great (a but messy) much gentler. Well done.
Right now i am going to put this motor to my mini swift glider, but during the test the motor is off every time when more then 50% of throttle. More than one minute on 50% of throttle and the motor and ESC is pretty warm. My ESC Turnigy plush 10A and 4,1x4,1 prop. Do you have any idea what is going on?
I have set the same on the same plane but with a 4.5 X 4.5 prop and a 10A plush also. In 3S the motor is warm at the end but works very well. I think that you perhaps set too much trottle. I would reduce it to the limit before it stops itself. As soon as the noise is strange it means that there is to much trottle
The point is that on 2s motor barely start and on 55-60% of throttle stop. On 3s does not start. I have tried two times in the air and the plane was slow. In my case you have to forget about vertical climb. 60% angle was imposibble. I do not know what to do. Right now motor is back into the box. I am waiting for your help !!
Surly I cannot climb vertically even in 3S. But at 80% I think. I don't know why it stops à* 60% trottle, I think you perhaps have a problem with the Esc no? It's my second motor on this plane and I never have problem with them (replaced the first one because of a crash on a solid surface...) My esc is also a 10amp but... try a 20amp perhaps
Try this esc is good for your motor! Test The motor furst whit no propeler! If your esc dont warm try whit propeler...I use 8A esc...Your esc will be good!
With that prop and battery, you might just get away with it if your esc is a good one like a plush. Just don't go full throttle for long and you should be fine.
static tested with a 5x3 gws and a 300 2s lipo... the current draw is a fraction under 6A on my meter..so it stays within its 7A max and should be ok on a 6A constant rated esc..
Like for every electic motor, you have to connect the 3 wires of the Esc to the 3 wires of the motor (check the rotation before souding). Then you connect the esc to your receptor. ask a friend if not sure
I've been using it on the miniswift for 1 season. I'm using it with the default propeller but also tried it with TGS Sport 4.5x4.5E Precision propeller. I don't know the weight but with the battery (610ma 3S) I must be around your 300g. very good motor, powerfull.
look in Heli forums. Bigger problem is that a Direct drive outrunner is not a very good tail rotor motor. It does not respond fast enough for the purpose in a heli.

8 thumbs up!
Powerful Motors for Lama BL conversion. One made some noise until I changed the bearing. Beware of the thin wires, do not bend to often.
