I've done this on a Sig Kadet .25.
I used a thin piece of piano wire witch I fixed to the rudder and fed it through the fuse. Then cut a grove in the brass piese so the bend wire was in the middle of the axle, so it could turn.
The wire will ive you some flex, like the original pieces.
The bracket then can be fixed to the fuse. Make sure it is strong enough to mount it..

For the set up you are trying i would use a different style tale wheel that has a tiller arm on it and put a new push rod tube in the plane and connect it to the rudder servo on the same side as the rudder, but you will have to use a longer servo horn or join it to rudder push rod with a joiner. I have done this type of thing before and its quite easy. Good luck.
