Hobbyking Wireless Battery Tracker w/ Free Battery 869Mhz

Hobbyking Wireless Battery Tracker w/ Free Battery 869Mhz

Wish you could know your Lipoly battery voltage while you are flying?
Want to be able to accurately know when your pack is about to drop voltage?

The New-&-Improved Hobbyking wireless battery tracker monitors your lipoly via the charge plug and sends back a signal to your reciever. Should one of your cells drop below 3.6v the LED for that cell will turn Red. Once the cell drops below 3v the LED will flash and the warning buzzer will beep, signaling you to land as soon as possible.
This unit is also a great way to find those batteries that drop voltage greatly under load.
The transmitter operates on 869.0Mhz FM band and can monitor 2S to 6S batteries.

Spec.
Transmitter Weight: 7g
Receiver Weight: 35g (this is the part you keep in your pocket)
Signal distance: Around 300-400mtr
Battery: 7.4V/ 2 Cell (Included)

Usage;
Ensure the hand-held receiver is turned on and you have selected the number of cells first. Once this is done, then connect the transmitter inside the plane to the batteries balance plug. If you do not do it in this order, the reading will be incorrect.

How to charge the battery ?
 B Scroll 6 points
you need a charger for 2s lipo. plug it in the charger the same form of usual lipo. maybe you nedd a female conector depend of your charger.
 trumpy 209 points
LOL see my answer to you in the forums ! but as the fella above said , charge with normal lipo charger set to 2S and 0.1A charge maximum
 yfl211 103 points
Well, Trump, I finally stripped the f*cking battery and just soldered on a JST-XH. Now it charges, but as I put it in the receiver, the receiver appears to malfunction. I only get two red lights. Familiar to you? What to do? yfl211

How much time to be in stock?
 B Scroll 6 points
In my experience get 20 bateries for 10 minuts each baterie.

Mine didn't work. It would be a fantastic device if it had worked properly.
 shimsham 26 points
hi emerson. do think its worth the money.
 emmi_silc 22 points
That's the point. My battery arrived faulty and the shipping cost to send back from Brazil to HK is higher than the device itsself. So, I don't recomment any cheap device working with radio frequency.
 billius 29 points
Perhaps you should have bought the wired version that why all you have to do it follow the wire. Honestly who wrote this description wireless battery tracker, if it wasn't wireless it would be no use.

How do I charge the reciever battery? Was it supposed to come with some sort of charger?
jadamian75  97 points - 9/11/2009

Great idea but I really would like to adjust the voltage that it beeps at. If it vibrated also that would be nice since if gas planes are testing there engines or flying the beep may not be heard
jbailey19  19 points - 8/16/2009

I just got mine today.
I plugged the tx into the battery ballance plug and the red light comes on. I then turn on the rx and push the button to select the correct # of cells. After it flashes a couple of times it beeps twice and then all the lights turn off. I cannot tell that it is working.

I'm having the same problem Mike. Did you ever figure out what was wrong?

Whwre is your stock. you are waiting good business by not stocking your popular items??? When will new stock arrive? I can get stuff I need real quck from other sources as well. You remind me of other businesses who carry the minimum to reduce overhead and the end lose business to others and once your customers leave they may never ever come back GET IT!!!
BernardS  10 points - 6/16/2009

Well it seems logical that it should work on 1 to 6 cells but the product text does not say so specifically. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up :-)
BernardS  10 points - 6/1/2009

Does this only work on 6S packs or can you use it on others ?
 Malfamartin 940 points
Please read the product text! Of course it works from one to 6 cells. It tracks each and one of the cells.

Do they apply with hyperion connectors? Or should I use an adapter?

Guessing about its voltage accuracy...
 professorfate 184 points
Guessing what about its voltage accuracy?
larry  10 points -

the add claims the lights will flash at 3.6 volts and will beep at 3 volts. Is there any way of adjusting our own warning points or is it fixed and cannot be modified.
thanks,
Larry

Hi,
There is no adjustment. It's pre set to 2.6 and 3v.

can you have more than one of these systems running at once???

e.g three friends all using one at the same time in their own planes at the same field ?

??????????????????????????????????????
 Malfamartin 940 points
Of course not if you use the same freaqvensy, but with 3 different it is possible. This is absolutely the simplest form of telemetry. When the battery info goes throu the reciever (2,4GHz), it is possible to be many friends at the field and all can read their own battery status.

What powers the receiver?
 chomiq 394 points
"The Wireless battery tracker monitors your lipoly via the charge plug" so you connect it to the battery useing it's service plug and you know what is condition of the each cell in the pack. It takes power from battery, it's simple :-)
 Fugitive_Bill 419 points
Kamil, He asked about the receiver not the transmitter.

To others, Looks there are now 3 different frequencies available to choose from.

Patrick  68 points -

That is exactly what I need for my 6S LiPo Go Motorboard 1500X. It's ESC does not protect my Lipo. This will allow me to monitor without fugly wires running all around. btw: Runs awesome at 24V up from the standard 16V 4ah Lead Acid pack
chomiq  394 points -

What about the situation when me and my friends are using those devices... all are operating on the same chanel... or different chanels??? I'm affraid of such kind of interferences and bad info on receiver. So, Imean what will happend when me and my friend use those devices in the same time?
 Malfamartin 940 points
If you have the same freaq. the reading will be wrong. All transmitting different info will be unusable. Use the Turnigy Receiver Controlled Switch and you can read at all times when taking turns of usage :-)
Of course you are better off with different freq.
chomiq  394 points -

What is the standard power consumption (in mAh)of this device?
la mouette  140 points -

Awesome! ... it should apply the same principle transmitter / receiver on a system to find a plane fell into a field of wheat or rapeseed ... !
 chomiq 394 points
Yes, it's good idea, but it could be difficult to do this in such small item.

Beware! You will NOT get the free battery as stated! I didn't get a battery and when I contacted support they wanted pictures of the packaging, everything inside it. a written note, my first born son, etc. They obviously will not believe you if you tell them they forgot the battery so you will have to spend more $$$ to buy one. AND they charged me shipping for the full weight of the item even though it was missing the battery!

I followed the instructions and after the receiver beeps 3 times, it goes black. The transmitter and receiver are not working properly. After reading these reviews, I see that someone else has experienced the same issue.

16 thumbs up!
I have one of these and waht I don't like is that the cell voltage where it starts beeping is 3.7V. I expected it to turn red at 3.7V but mine would beep at 3.7V. I verified w/ a digital meter that it was close to 3.7V. That is too soon for making a sound and is kinda annoying. The Tx range however is really good. I had it down in the basement and could get reception all the way up on the 3rd floor.

The good decision for the control and calculation of time of flight and protection of yours LiPo. But unfortunately at battery tracker is a few lacks. In the receiver light-emitting diodes not brightly enough shine, there is no indication of inclusion. Loudness managed to be increased, having cut a label on a buzzer. The transmitter is strongly heated. I have ordered two complete sets and one has come with the faulty transmitter.
