Can these charge through balance lead only, not using discharge leads. I am wanting to charge a 10 cell battery with 2 x 5 cell balance leads and one pair of discharge leads

Zaloo.. I can't get the calibrate process to start.. I hold all 4 buttons down as stated then connect power.. it says "checking system" the just show the url for the makers and underneath a string of numbers. It only beeps once, I can't get it to do it three times like they say. What I have done is update it to the latest (2010) driver which I think was 4.17 and that worked fine. The upshot is I can now charge lipos! Seems the update sorted the glitch out. I'm not fussed about calibration so long as the balancer works within reason.. Any idea son why the unit wont go into calibration mode? I felt all 4 buttons "click" Well done, anyway, you're a Legend mate!!

I'm glad to hear that you are finally able to charge your LiPos :) It shouldn't be necessary to calibrate the charger based on this comment under the product description: "Each unit is calibrated at the factory prior to shipping!" I have no idea why you didn't get the 4 beep signals. It seems that the old firmware caused problems for you. I think that it would be best If you could measure each individual cell after charging to confirm that the balancer is working properly.

WOW... One of the best chargers that I have seen. It came with the firmware: 3.12c which i upgraded to 3.13b this is a pretty simple and a sweet charger. I have gone through all the menus, however could not find the menu for regenerative discharing. Maybe it appears only when powered through a rechargable source. There was no manual with the system, so you need to download it from the internet or from the provided CD.

Overall I would rate the charger 5plus as the balancing was accurate. However I had to calibrate my charger with my digital multimeter. Calibration is simple:
1.) Power OFF the charger.
2.) Hold all the buttons and power on
3.) Release the buttons after hearing the 4 beeps while powering on.
4.) Hold the stop button for 3 sec to enter into voltage monitor mode.
5.) press and hold the dec, inc, and start button to enter into calibration mode.

Excellent charger. Very intuitive, easy to use, although it cant charge more than one battery at a time, its much more versatile. The Logview program is a VERY useful addition if you really care about your batteries. Ive been running it monitoring the discharge characteristics of my LiPo batteries and it shows you what is really happening with each of the cells individually. Doing this on a regular basis will enable you to predict impending batte

Big power in small size. Balancing is one of the best in class with excellect accuracy. Powerfull charger with many extra features. Resistance check is great for checking health of batteries. Will charge any type battery you have, lead-acid to li-ion. Charges my 6s 2200mah 40c battery in 14 minutes from a car battery. Only need 2 packs to fly all day! Could get away with 1 pack at most fields becuse you have to wait to fly.
