Hi Sam, These Motors if they come with what is called a "PROP - SAVER" will come with an O-Ring, which should hold the prop and centers by itself... (nice feature). In a crash landing, prop might be damaged, but as it is only hold by an O-Ring (=Rubber Band), O-Ring should give way and release Prop, Prop than disengages and land's still intact somewhere close to crashed plain... THAT's THEORY.... Sometimes it works, bu only if engine of aircraft was stopped prior crash. rgds, manfred
these motors come with ONLY what is in the photo. A prop adaptor needs to be bought separately. But Buying one from HK is iffy as often they are either Goofy or silly large. Best is to buy a motor that hasthe needed accessories included :-)
Had the same problem: Best, You buy a replacement shaft like the Turnigy EasyMatch Park250 Series - Replacement Shaft, it's a little bit longer, but has the grove where You need it. What's too long can be cut after swapping (DON'T FORGET TO TAPE THE HOLES OF THE MOTOR WHILE CUTTING!) rgds, manfred
For the holes with the most distance it is *: 18mm. The other pair is 14mm across. By the way this motor uses 2 different size screws, bigger screws for the longer distance side and smaller screws for the shorter distance side. Hope this helps!
I have a 7040 prop with 3S and it pumps out over 400g of thrust! Gives my 300g glider unlimited vertical! But it gets really hot so propping it down to 7030 should be more than adequate.
Did anyone mount those props http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem .asp?idProduct=11331 (8x4) to this motor?
Shaft is too short for propsaver I have :(
Look around if you can find a longer 3mm shaft. The one provided is too short. That'll solve your prop saver issue. Otherwise you'll need some sort of a prop adapter collet to mount them.
Yes, it can. I've done it, in my case it was easy to do (I've tried it with another motor from hk and it got bent because I applied to much force, while still beeing unable to deliver enough torque). You just need a normal 1,5mm hex screw driver, get rid of one screw and you can change direction - I flattened the shaft to get good grip. If the shaft doesn't come out easily, don't apply force, but try rinsing it with oil and be patient.
Set the motor housing in an automotive socket (slightly larger diameter), then press out the shaft using a penny. You can then grab the shaft end with a needle nosed pliers and pull it out the rest of the way.
I use it on my mini funtana 250g weigth and 80cm wingspan. With 2S 800mA Zippy and GWS 8х*4 prop it takes about 350g thrust. Also tried it with 7x5 APC prop - thrust in static is less, but the plane speed increased a little bit.
i think it gona be sweet cuz hlg usually are really light, about 300g when heavy! so just try mate, really cheap, worth try!

3 thumbs up!
Ill than stock motor of Piaget. 3S and 7-4prop make it heater. Is it 1550KV? FC28-05(1600KV) is much better than this. I had tighten bolts, but Core turned left and disconnect cable, If you would not want to burn your finger or fall your plane, should not buy.
