Can anyone advise what all the pieces are in the kit and why the shaft is poking out the wrong side. There is no shaft to bolt the prop onto. Yet there is a shaft sticking out the other end. What the deal?
 Kellyann 16225 points
Paul all the ACC in the small photo come with it. The shaft pokes out this end so you can screw on the prop mount to body to the other end. This way you can mount the motor in front or behind the plane motor mount. On the shaft end you can fit the prop saver. Also the shaft can be moved to come out of the other end TOO. I hope this helps
 Adam 1 points
Kellyann...i am seeking the same question as Paul...i have the same concerns...is there anyway you can post a picture of a motor already assembled and ready to mount on the plane...i guess im slow as to getting what you are saying about the shafts sticking out on both ends of the motor

When will this engine arrive. I ordered one around 2 months ago and it is still on back order. Hobby King can provide no ETA on when it will arrive. I would order the 28 turn but it is on back order too.

Hi all,
I have just got the new ''YAK54 EPP 3D Profile KIT (35.4in)''

I am wondering if this motor would be a good match for this foamie, along with a 3cell batt, and a GWS 9x5DD prop.

Estimated flying weight for the plane is 400-470gr.

Look forward to your replies.
 tonybooger 193 points
Or maybe 10x6DD prop. I dont like the RD(s***n shaped props)
 mattyhawk 232 points
If you are looking for 3D performance, do the 10x4.7 APC SF. Sport flying and mild 3D, 9x5 will be good.
 DaxFX 95 points
there is no way that yak54 epp will have a flight weight of 400g. thats the weight of the plane alone without electronics. i have that plane setup up to 520g and was the light setup i could get. the specs of the plane are wrong I asume. like you i bought the wrong motor by the weight HK give us. you should get a motor that can pullout at least 200 watts.
 tonybooger 193 points
Thanks for that mate, i havnt brought a motor yet. Do you have any reccomendations?
 lithoushine 45 points
yes its sounds like a good set up but you might want to try a 9x3.8 prop for better performance
 Katana180 22 points
Pour un SU29 en mousse c'est très bien Il tourne une 9x6 à 1000tr/mn sous 3s
zagonielod  112 points - 5/17/2010

Ok gusy. Thanks! I will have to buy new props which fit the other mount :)
 Pygar 322 points
Drill out the old one. Or use the rings that come with most props. Thats how I do it anyway:)

Hi everyone! I have just one question. I got this motor today. I have to invert the shaft. Right? Cas it is on the side with the cables. So I have to take it out and put it back on the opposite side. Or not?.... Pls HELP! Newbi here
 jetspeeds 431 points
Hi zagonielod, All you do is install the motor witht he shaft running at the back, then you screw in the supplied front mount, which is the thicker shaft. Much better and stronger. You will not need to bend this shaft back if nose dive into ground. This is a great powerful engine on any 3 cell with the recommended prop size.
 GothaR 24 points
jetspeeds is right, I tried to figure out how to invert the shaft, but there is one notch which is not in the middle of the shaft, so it looks like you cannot invert it unless you buy another one with notch on other place. Using front mount attached with 4 screws seems to be much stronger, I experienced several crashes with this prop mount and engine is still in 100% shape :)
 Roger 8 points
I used the normal front mount and then I took my dremmel with a cut-off blade and eliminated the shaft sticking out the back. This reduces weight and the need to poke a hole in the center of your motor mount. NOTE: Be sure to cover the back of the motor with tape to prevent the cut-off dust material from being magnetically sucked inside the motor during the cutting operation. When you are done, you will find a layer of metal dust on the external diameter of the motor that is easy to remove with a rag.

thanks, ordered it. need it for back mounting. english would be easier to understand...
 jetspeeds 431 points
you get a mount bracket that fits onto the back of the motor. Its better to use the attachable thread shaft and mount engine backwards. Disregarding the smaller shaft shown in the picture.
 tommibarth 78 points
Hi, joanwa there are holes for screws on the back, h.k actually give you them with this motor, the spinner they they also provide mounts on the the side of the photo where the axle isn't coming through.
 joanwa 106 points
thanks for the answers. but that way you always need to leave a hole for the axle on the other side. a bit weird in my pov.
btw, are your prop saver thread holes exactly opposite? mine are not, therefore the whole thing doesn't run really balanced. HK. whats the point on including nice accessoires when you can't use them??
 zagonielod 112 points
I would be interrested on how to mount it on an extra 300? The shafts end is not on the right side for me :( What can I do to solve this issue?
 Sebastien 14 points
Hi, no the screws to hold this motor are on the front. But if you need to install from the back, you can do it and install the shaft adaptor which is included with the motor. I highly recommend you this motor, it comes with plenty of parts, for example a replacement shaft! I use this on a TROLL, small 3D airplane, around 300 grams. with a 9 x 3,8 ESC 18 A, 3S 750 mAh it rocks. regards from Switzerland.

I have this motor on my scale 44 inch Cessna 172, it is more then enough power with an 8-6 prop and 20 amp speed control. You can't beat the price and the quality. And the assy. kit is a plus, nothing else to buy.

Awesome motor, with a 9.5x6 carbon prop (aeronault) goes to 12A, with a gws 9x5x3 goes to 13.55A at full trottle, in my Ep tucano make infinite verticals. Good motor.
