 Ltomi78 43 points
X8F is not a receiver it is a module. And X8R is not a module this is a receiver and it works well with all X8 modules!. I used this with X8J module in turnigy 9x radio, and with X8D hack module in Futaba 6EX radio. Works good

"It will work with both the X8J and X8F modules." What does this mean? Is it a radio brand specific model designation?
 iguron 55 points
No. Assan named its technology X8, F or J means that the Tx module works with Futaba or JR slot compatible. That's all...
 MojoMaestro 117 points
yes & H is Hitec.

is this work with futaba 3pk? thanks
 MojoMaestro 117 points
if U mean this >>X8 2.4GHz Combo pack for Futaba W/ Module & RX , the answer is YES.
 Ltomi78 43 points
I you buy the module X8F which compatible with Futaba radios, you can use this Receiver. This is not a module!

Will this work on a quadcopter build? and what ECM and speed controls should I get with this for a quadcopter? THANKS!
 iguron 55 points
Quadcopters don't need lon long range receiver, maybe you could choose another more light receiver also from assan.

Does it work with Turnigy th9x transmitter? Thx.
 Ltomi78 43 points
I made a range test at the weekend for 3, 4 and 6 km both LOS and almost LOS (through some small tree and behind a small building). The receiver was on the top of a small hill about 50-60 m high, the Flysky th9x (Turnigy 9x same) radio with assan x8j module was in my hand (I went by a car and tested it inside and outside also of the car). Suprisingly I have stable link with LOS also on 3km ( from inside of the car!!!) and 4km (outside of the car), and I got also link behind a small building but with small glitches. I've made the test with and without a wifi booster on x8j module on 6 km again. Behind a small building without booster, there was hard to find link at all. I used here a booster with 1000mw and I could manage a stable link not clear LOS. Summary: Its provide very strong stable link without booster until 4km not clear LOS and also stable link with a booster 6km (not clear LOS). Earlier I've made FPV test, using also this X8R receiver with a 400mw 1.2 ghz video TX. I have stable link until 2.5 km (LOS), which was the limit of my video tx.

Has anyone actually tested the range on this thing? I'm thinking about FPV flight with this puppy, but im not gonna spend this much money if the 6km is a lie. If it can reach 4km without bull, id still buy it.
 xaviere 236 points
Why dont you try it. It might bark when something goes wrong.
 aventgps 5 points
i have tested this receiver on the air, with original antennas all the way 5000 mts distance... making a fpv testing, sorry i dont have the video to show you.

Can somebody tell me if i need an external antenna for this receiver ?
It says "short antenna",can't see one, but i see an external connector.

Thanks
 atlehaav 182 points
Antenna is included, a short antenna (appr 8 cm with exposed sntenna wire the last 3 cm). Has a 90 degree elbow attached directly so the antenna is lying flat along the receiver (this elbow is fixed, it's not possible to reposition vert-hor - you have to reposition the receiver in that case.
 helicopterfixer 34 points
A short antenna is supplied with the RX.
 aventgps 5 points
the receiver comes with a short antenna, 90 degrees connector.

I want to know if the X8R 2.4ghz 8ch Receiver
can work with 7.4 volt whitout a regolator to 6 volt and what about all the reciver of ASSAN?
 aventgps 5 points
en un hidro avion sera igual que en el aire, me supongo que despegaras y aterrizaras serca cierto? uselo con confianza, lo que importa es que tenga linea de vista con el transmisor
__jang  112 points - 9/9/2009

I am done with ASSAN. I lost connection due to a failsafe hangup of the receiver, less than 30 meters from the TX. Electric system in plane was still ok after the crash. The RX simpy hung up and didn't react. After reboot, all was normal again. I believe, the blocking of the X8R Receiver was due to a software crash.
This crash made me loose a 1000$ plane.

any problem with PowerBox Evolution Syestem??
 __jang 112 points
*Jesus Manuel: This seems to be the wrong film *-)

I opened the case of X8R an saw a missing resistor and the spare internal antenna lying loose in the case. This was due to vibrations of my 50cc gasser and the fact, that the inner parts of the receiver can move in the housing of the receiver.
Before use in a gasser, FIX THIS WITH HOT GLUE to avoid accident!
 slumberjer 496 points
Which assan rx do you used on your gasser? x86? what is the effective range? I'm planning to use on my 50cc.
 Eric1180 2278 points
I thing you had a isolated event. The ASSAN doesn't have any issues with range just to clarify. Just make sure to wrap your receiver in foam to protect from vibrations and you won't have any problems.
Helicoy  115 points - 8/11/2009

Why the price is so more expensive like Futaba ?
 christian 322 points
It isn't!!
__jang  112 points - 7/1/2009

I asked the above voltage question to ASSAN support. Here is their answer:
"i know there have some guys want use 1s li-poly or 2s li-poly pack as direct power supplier for receiver and servos.

our current receiver can worked at 2.7v to 10v.but we don't advice used in min or max volatge.that will make the system workd not as good as normal volatge(4.8v/6v)."

Enjoy

Is this compatible with the X8D module transmitter?
 TRITON 630 points
YES, it is !!!!!
__jang  112 points - 5/17/2009

As the V2 seems to be most wanted, could HKing please tell us, wheter this receiver is a V2 or is it elder stock. On the image, the V2 sticker doesn't show!
 Beaufighter 1808 points
As with everything in this store, stock is usually replaced every 2-4 weeks on everything, so belive me, this is very likely the latest. And, I was not aware that an earlier version of the X8R actually excisted, to my knowledge the X8R has been in the V2 series since launching, like the X8RP and X8R10.
 __jang 112 points
Bad reply, I got an elder version on mai, 24th 2009. Questions to HK should be answered by HK staff only
 aventgps 5 points
i have just received mine and it shows the v2 on the stiker
Straight Up  742 points - 5/2/2009

I don't get it. It's 3 times the cost of the X8R7 and X8R6, and twice the price of the 9 channel. What is so special about it?
 Beaufighter 1808 points
It is true long range, 1-6km, and the only one from assan with that range.... All the other Assan "long range" are up to 1km. (Parkflyer range up to 200m.) In addition, it is computer programmable failsafe, so this is the first true "high end" from Assan. I cannot tell why it cost that much, but even chinese engineering have costs:)
 Spoof boy 112 points
longer range presumably.
 aventgps 5 points
first, it is 8 channel, second, it has a superb reception sensitivity, also you can connect an external antenna with a sma connectos..... did i mention it is programmable?
Lee  18 points - 5/1/2009

Is this V2 version or old version? In picture, just show the old vesion.

I would also like to know the answer to Balazs question: "Can this receiver operate with 7,4V [2S LiPo]?
What is the normal operating voltage?
In the manual is only the following:
"X8 series receiver requires a voltage higher than 3.6V."

Thanks for the answer. "

And also will it work with 6V NiMH or only 4.8V?
 ketnet 259 points
sure, it works on lipo. i use it in my Trex 600
 aventgps 5 points
it can work from 2.7 to 10 volts...

Ik heb deze ontvanger getest aan de Belgische kust door met deze ontvanger weg te lopen van de zender. Minstens 3 km gewandeld van Wenduine naar Blankenberge zonder verlies van signaal.
