you would need a gyro a speed controller the motor and the right size prop for the motor and you might need a programing card for the speed controller and bullet connectors for the motor and the speed controller oh and you are right two wires to three dont work
Does anyone know how many amps this motor draws on a 7:1 geared housing with a 2 cell battery? Just wondering how small/light of an BESC i can get away with...
It makes no difference what gear ratio you use. The motor is rated at 6A. So the end loading will depend on your prop pitch and diameter. You need an Amp meter to determine the operating load. trial and error.
the smallest besc you can use is a 10 amps for being safe. This engine will draw from 6 to 7 amps no matter wich config you choose. Add the servos drain. I will suggest a turnigy plush 10 amps and it´s wheight of 9 grs can be reduced to about 6 grs changing wires and removing heatshrink.
gutibulldog31: No, config matters very much. The motor is rated for 6 amps, therefore you need to adjust your load accordingly, either by choosing the right gear ratio or prop size, If you put too big a prop, or have too high a gear ratio, the motor will draw more amps than it is designed for and overheat. This is done as adamg suggests, using an amp meter and trial and error, however, gear ratio does matter. The goal is to find the appropriate gear ratio/prop size in combination. To a certain extent, you can compensate for one with the other. For example, if you are drawing too much power (amps are too high) you can use a lower gear ratio or a lower pitch or smaller diameter prop. Going back to orcasea's original question, there is no way to answer that question, because we would have to know what prop you are running, however, even if we knew that, the chances of someone having the exact same configuration as you have is unlikely, so you would have to go back to adamg's suggestion of trial and error.
yes it will fit but it requires allot of modifying to the motor mount so it can be done but it is allot of work to do it i would suggest paying more and get the motor that is built for the micro t
Yes, this motor should fit, however, as suggested, you will need to modify the motor mount and chassis, however, I disagree with richard, as these modifications should take less than an hour and it saves to a heck of a lot of money compared with the losi upgrade. However, this motor is a lot more powerful than the stock motor, and you will find that you strip a lot of hears. (actually, they melt in my truck) Another motor that might work better, and go faster, is the Turnigy 1220 Brushless Inrunner Motor 10300kv. This motor is shorter in length, and may require less modification. I used this in my losi micto SCT, and it's a rocket, however, be careful, because it will heat up a lot if you don't choose a low enough gear. You should start with the smallest pinion gear available and monitor the heat... if it doesn't get very hot, move up to the next size. Also the Turnigy 1230 Brushless Inrunner Motor 4500kv is very similar to the BL1230. Also, is your rc car already brushless? If not, you may need a bunch more parts like a speed controller, and possibly tx/rx, and steering servo.
i run mine on a three cell with a 10 amp speed controller and it doen fine but you might want to get a heat sink for it because it can get a little hot
theoretically you should be able to run just about as many cells as you want, if you can control you power draw. You just need to choose the right prop/gear ratio, and keep the draw under 6 amps... whether or not the necessary gearing and prop combo is available could be another story, however if it is, you can usually achieve better efficiency with more cells.
I use this motor with 7.4V 620mah lipo and 3x3 Prop. I only get 85g static thrust. Same result with 3x2 Prop. Did i get a bad motor or should i try a different prop or 3 cell lipo?
you should be getting more thrust than that you might have a bad motor but before you get another one try a 5by3 prop or a 5by4 prop thats what i run on mine
i got this motor as an upgrade from the other 12mm motor on this site, but i get less thrust, the motor hardly gives me anything, im running a 2cell 350mAh and was ,meant to be running a 3x2 but i got given 3x3's by hobbycity instead !!!!! please can you experts help me to decide what the best prop is for a 2cell or is the motor no good (not what reviews say)
i run my motor an a three cell with a 5by4 prop and that works pretty good so you should try a 5by3 prop or a 5 by4 prop if that doesnt help then get a different motor because this one might not be the best one for running on a 2 cell
Mit dem Motor habe ich meinen Nanojet aus Depron mit Spannweite von 50cm und einem Gesamtgewicht von 75g angetrieben. Ein kleiner 3" Propeller wurde direkt an die Motorwelle gesteckt, dazu ein 4 Kanal Corona Empfänger, 6A 6g Pentium Regler und ein HexTronik 24g leichter 2S 460mAh 7,4V Li-Po Akku. Ich erreiche Standschub von 145g und fliege damit recht schnell. Alle Teile inklusiver Mikroservos habe ich bei Unitedhobbies günstig erworben.

It is cheap. That is the good thing. The bad thing is, it don´t fit FG 120Size 12mm A 5.86:1 Metal Gearbox. There is space between motorshaft and gearbox. They touch only slightly. The other thing are the cables. They are very thin, but twice wrapped. And in my order one of two motors was not working
But anyway, very good price, weight is ok. For playing it is enough.

Too weak to be used in a walkerea 52 bl only 32 watt. Medusa 4000kv 44 watt is a much better option

I received this little Inrunner. First, it has 17g like the small Feigaos and not the promised 13g, so that are 30pcnt more weight!
I use this motor at 2s Lipo with a GWS 3x2. ~19500-20000 RPMs at 7.4V. At 3x3 motor gets much too hot and my airplane (135g 0.5m flying wing doesn't fly as good as with 3x2).
The motor doesn't work correctly with H-Wing 9g 12A ESC: This combination produces some failures in the low speed range. From 1/5 throttle onwards everything is fine, but below motor has much dropouts (1 per second).

This motor works great as a Direct Drive Tail Motor for Helis like the HoneyBee FP. the performance is better than the brushed direct drive motor and the longevity is about 20X! Tail authority is much improved despite the increased weight of this motor. Piro rates spinning nose-right are insane with a 3S LiPo, I love it!. Nose left piro rates are no different than the brushed direct drive tail.
