Hi, i want to know weather the helicopters and the airplanes are using the same radio transmitter ? or the 4 channel radio transmitter that works in the helicopter can also work on an airplane? thanks

I would like to know what is the maximum speed of this motor KB45-08XL 1600kv Brushless Inrunner is at 24V. At the moment we use the K1 RPM-KV meter (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewIte
m .asp?idProduct=10335)
to measure the RPM and it shows 10.000 RPM. We would like to get it up to around 25.000 - 30.000. Is this possible?
 Dann 4 points
kv stands for rpm per volt sooooo... if u multiply 1600x24v u get 38,400rpm your meter is not acurate or u need to adjust some settings in it to get the right data :)

I'm using this motor in combination with the monster 2000 ESC and Two 4s 3000 nano-tec 65-130 batt run in parallel. I will be turning a 9X7 3blade prop. Has anyone figured out the proper Esc Timing and set up for this motor. I'm building a large hotliner set up. Thx.
 Scott 234 points
I use 5 deg. of timing in a 6s marine setup!
 Ian Rice 12 points
I guess I will have to fire her up when I get the plane built! I'll try 5* to start! Thx bud.

I want to mod one of these for EDF use and drill some vent holes in the front and rear end plates for cooling! How are they removed! Is the front plate a "standard" or "reverse" thread! Also is the rear just press fitted in?
 joby 5 points
yes its press fit so put set screws if you drill holes in it or it will come out!
Drax21  53 points - 7/8/2011

What pole is this motor? I would guess it would have to be at least 4.
 Peerke*nl 15 points
It's a 2 pole inrunner.I use it in a CEN 7.7 brushless conversion in combo with the hobbyking 150A highperformence esc and it's a BEAST.

hi, i want to use this motor on a HPI truckzilla with a HK 150A esc. which battery(how many cells) and which pinion should i use? 3 cells can run this truck 30 mph? thx for replys
 Peerke*nl 15 points
I use it in a CEN 7.7 with that same esc and with 4 cel 4500mah *40C 20pinion and 66spurgear it dous about 40mph so u need 4 cel or up and use the right gears and U'll be flying and do standing wheelys and wheelys at about 20mph to

Is there anyone who has measured peak current for this motor used in a boat at 6S LiPol?
 wyesguy 23 points
this motor could take 100 Amps with the right cooling
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 Paulo 13 points
no, but EDF 127mm 80Amp
 mojo1 13 points
No but I have tested it on my kyosho inferno GT and it runs fast!
 Peerke*nl 15 points
P=UxI so if u use a 6 cel with a high enough C rating:3500=22,2x157, so if u have 3500watt and use it with a 6 cel lipo u should be abele to use 157A but that is in theorie in a ideal situation

Has this motor enough power to move a model 2-5kg car? How many max current has this motor? Thanks a lot!
 wyesguy 23 points
This motor has a lot of power,(2-4hp) and could take 100 Amps with the right cooling
 Arnaud 1 points
Is Water Cooling Jacket For B4563 Motor compatible? What should I use for cooling? Thanks
 wyesguy 23 points
Yes the B4563 Water Cooling Jacket does fit, you will also need some high temperature sealant, something like Pyrosealant should work well or any gasket glue. The Water Cooling Jacket does not come or is not really made for o-rings
 mojo1 13 points
I have it on my Kyoso inferno GT 4,3 kg and it is fast! But gets HOT. Colloing I use a fan and afterwards I spray with cooling spray
 Peerke*nl 15 points
I use it in a 7,5kg car and it flys.3500wattx1.36=4,76hp so YES it will move that car
 Scott 234 points
If you gear it correctly, in theory you should be able to draw 150amps at 22.2 volt. and YES this motor will suit a 5kg car quite nicely!
gaybaz  4 points - 3/1/2011

what battery would i need for these motors.
 onur 6 points
Lipo battery can use up to 36 volts

2s 4500mah 25c ps. if u liked the information plz dont hesitate to show.

I have the exact motor do not run over 6s those motors arent very efficient and produce LOTS of heat so be carefull the power reduces tremendously after it gets hot

Hi,I have an AS-2 powerboat, 1,15m long. There are two Speed 800 on 447 Octuras. The motors are powered by 6S1P Fepos each. Now, is it possible to use two KB45-08XL with the same set up? I often drive half throttle, so are the motors made for this?Best regards
 eugenioca 11 points
Hello. I used 2 motors too on a race boat and work greats :)), run better than the original motors. bye
 eugenioca 11 points
Hello. Yes, you can use it. bye

Hi
I have two of this motors on a boat, and now i need water cooling to complet full instalation, but i dont find any 45mm water cooling!Do you have any? where can i found this stuff? Thanks
 eugenioca 11 points
Hello. You can make like me :)). I use an aluminum tube (6mm outter diameter and 4 inner diameter) rolled around the motor with an inlet and outlet for water using silicon tube and nice :)). bye
 eugenioca 11 points
Hello. I made a cooler with a 6mm aluminium tube for 2 motors on a speed race boat with 2 inlets and 2 oultets and keep it warm, not hot :)) nice, and use another tube folded for the ESC and keep it warm too. Put the tube around the motor and you will have the cooler at your size desired :)) bye

How to open the front and back plates of this motor?
 petar770 5 points
Front plate is threaded ,right thread .Insert two bolts in plate and unscrew. Pull rotor out and bottom plate can be pushed out with some proper size wooden dowel .Pay attention not to damage wire windings .Plates can be drilled for better cooling

Most Heatsinks on the market are 36mm and 44mm.
Will a 44mm heatsink fit on this supposedly 45mm motor?

Thanks
BorisB  73 points - 4/19/2009

can somebody tell me the bolt pattern and the length of the shaft from this motor.
Thanks
Boris
 scarletboa 349 points
the bolt pattern is 30mm. you will need m4 bolts for it. the bigger bolts are needed because this motor is massive. i finally got mine and it makes the cc/neu motors look small.
scarletboa  349 points - 4/7/2009

is this a 1700kv or 1600kv motor?

What is the difference between the KB-08XL and the KB-17XL? I know the XL is extra long (77mm), but what about the 08 and 17?? I want to use this motor for a 4.5" EDF and I read where the motors start getting HOT. Which is better for the EDF?.....please explain

Can I use this motor with 9S Lipo(33.3v.) In the specification : voltage :36 volt. Who's used this monster with 36 volt?
 norbique 457 points
It would be good to know what your setup is...
Yes you can, but at 33.3V the unloaded RPM will be more than 50K RPMs! It's too much. Go for a lower kv KB motor instead.

when will coming stock?

Ah thanks! My Monster GT will love this!

Again, will a 100A ESC be enough for this motor?

And what pinions do you guys use?
 tedy79 19 points
100A ESC will be enough for it! are you using it in boat? as boat ESC usually have water cooling, I use this motor on a monster truck, it works great, heat becomes a problem after 20+ minutes run. BL motor only the maximum AMP at the very start, the quickly drop to 20-30 AMP, so anything with 100A or there about would be fine. You will need a 6MM pinion which is very hard to get, Try kershawdesigns****. or just buy a 5mm pinion and bore it to 6MM.
Jayesh  15 points -

I had purchased this motor. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what else I would need to power this motor? Do I need the ESC? If so, which one? Do I need the Li-Po battery, or can any duracell battery work? If I need a Li-Po battery, which one would be best to get the maximum thrust out of it? I am a beginner, so any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
 Deryn 101 points
Brushless motors need brushless ESC's to tell them what to do. To get the most out of brushless motors you should use lipo batteries.
I'd also suggest some research before using the system to be sure you do not damage it. Try an internet search and spend a couple of hours reading up - you will be glad you did.

Thank you!!!!

1-got a KB45-08XL 1700kv Brushless Inrunner, which colors to be connected to the TURNIGY Plush 100amp Speed Controller ?
2-this TURNIGY Plush 100amp Speed Controller, which is the best way for its cooling system ?

1. doesnt matter, plug them in, if it goes the wrong way, just unplug 2 of the 3 and replace in the opposite way. eg: green - green, red-red and yellow to yellow makes it go backwards, just use green -green, red - yellow and yellow to red :)

simple. hope you understand.

21 thumbs up!
The same day I received this motor I'v already tested it on my Kyosho Inferno 777st-RR brushless. Now I am really convinced that higher voltages and lower kv-motors like this one is the future for brushless 1:8 offroad. Althoug heavier than the feigao's and neu's this motor together wit a hv controller (pentium) gives such amount of power and torque on 6s lipo that it it really smokes nitro. It also runs really smooth. Really superior to 4s hotter motors setups. Runs a lot smoother and cooler. Seems to have also more torque. I think that I can gear this up without heaving any issue to have max speeds over 65 mph and still having enough torque for offroad but that may be to hard to handle. Would be nice if a experienced driver like Kanaii or Drake would test this.
Also nice: Price is only about 1/4th - 1/6th of the combinations on 4s I run.

The Monster is really a good buy. Working in a high speed boat with 6s Lipo and av. current of more the 60 Amps it is doing a good job.

Shaft is 6 mm instead of 5 and mounting holes are on 29mm circle.
