 seehuusen 21 points

What is exact shaft diameter on this motor, 2.0 or 2.3mm ?
 andrepar 2 points
2.3 mm in total diameter
 gouldie 401 points
mine came with a 2.3mm shaft not the 2mm shown in pic but not moaning easier to get pinions for 2.3mm
RattleSnake  362 points - 12/24/2010

Is there a flat spot on the shaft for a Pinion screw?
 soofian 31 points
yes there is, but you must try to find a pinion gear with 2mm hole.
 RattleSnake 362 points
I found that if you buy pinions for a Losi Mini Baja/Buggy or any in that range, they fit fine!

Any here at Hobbyking?

i just installed this motor and noticed that it stutters and gets really hot really fast. Is there a certain timing setting that I should be using? I have the Turnigy 18A ESC and programming card.
 Haasz 1 points
I have the same problem as you Bryan. It just stutters and gets hot, nothing else?
Anybody?
What ESC*s are you guys using to get this thing to work?
 crazycarmaniac 166 points
if your esc has timing settings set i for low timing especishially if it shudders - means its 2 pole

In my 1/18 car I use 12T pinion and a 49T Spur. What size of tires do you have? Big tires means more stress to your motor...
 Pasan 109 points
I use it in my Mini LIST2. The tires are pretty big. But the motor got warm before I ever installed it in the truck. I was testing it on my bench to break in the bearings.
Pasan  109 points -

I just got this motor, and ran it no load to test operations, and it became warm within a matter of seconds. Is this normal behaviour for this motor under no-load conditions?
 gouldie 401 points
yeah its normal you shouldnt run the motor with no load because with no load on it the shaft spins up to fast and causes high heat but these little motors do get hot easy, they are hard to find there sweet spot
Henry Pessoa  47 points -

yes, this motor comes with mating female connectors. No problem...
 crazycarmaniac 166 points
ngh ngh ngh.. nnnngggghhhhh

I bought one to my vendetta but it is not as fast as the Hyperion 5000kv! But it still very fast. Gear it down to not overheat. This is a micro motor to 1/18 not for 1/10! Of course the 6200kv is faster than this one because is just 5200kv... Good races =)
 rudyglx 40 points
which esc did you used, and how many cells?
 Henry Pessoa 47 points
I used a Hobbyking 60A! =)
Chronoholic  194 points -

is this a fast (50-70mph) motor for 1:18 car? (duratrax vendetta st)

Better than the 6200kv one i suppose?
 gouldie 401 points
if you ran it on 3s you would get them speeds but the motor wont last long go for a 2040 motor they have alot more torque then these little motors
Raman  14 points -

Is this a 540 motor? Can it be used in a 10th scale car?
 Pasan 109 points
No, this is a 370 motor. If you want a 540 motor look at the motors starting with 36, not 20.
 stgram12 47 points
How should I recognize what size are the motors?
What does this numbers like 20 and 36 mean?
 __eplu 12 points
this isn't a 540 Motor. This thing is build for 1/18 scale cars or some planes.
 Darren0128 7 points
the 20 and 30 refer's to the diameter of the motor casing in mm.
Tero  7 points -

Does this motor come with mating female connectors? If not, what is the correct female connector?

I purchased this to go in my RC18T mini R/C. Improved performance so dramaticaly the car just zips. I am running a 14t pinion with 60t spur and 10th scale sedan tires. The motor barely gets warm with constant on off accleration will definately go up on the gear. For the price I would put this against any of the brand names any day, very pleased.

I am using this motor in the Alfa 3 blade fan in a Mig 15. ESC is rated at 25 amps but with a 3s 2200Mah 20c-30c lipo it's pulling 29 amps ! Seems to be doin' just fine ! despite the motor being run at over it's rated amps of 12 ! Awesome.
