I just received my blue light kit and installed it in under 15 minutes. I watched many different videos on youtube and came up with my own technique. I thought the HobbyKing video was adequate and to the point. Of course I wasn't surprised by the thing that seems to catch everyone off guard....and that's the foam exchange part of the installation. I was ready for it...I knew the foam was stuck and after watching people struggle in the videos, I was surprised when I removed it in under 3 minutes. I simply worked it off starting at the bottom left corner and mine came off easily....no runs, no drips, no errors. I had already worked out a plan for the wiring which worked like a champ. The most time consuming (if you want to call a few minutes time consuming) was installing the screws. It all came off without a single hitch. This light kit makes a HUGE difference. I LOVE it. I had already done the LIPO upgrade which was a piece of cake....and I am set to go with this fantastic piece of technology. And by the way....the only tool I touched doing this installation was a screwdriver!!!
This product, while a great value at around 5 bucks, is far more difficult to install then the video leads you to believe. While not impossible it is quite tough to make this fit properly and re assemble your 9x radio. In my situation the 6 back cover screws were extremely difficult to remove (stripped heads while extracting) and I even had to drill the head off one. The stock foam pad attached to the circuitry that has to be removed was a chore and left tons of residue but nothing a little effort could not remedy. The wiring attached to the backlight module came loose immediately and required superglue to repair. The first time I re assembled the radio I learned the LCD screen was not in properly and the backlight module had also slid out of place. I had to take the whole thing apart again and glue the LCD screen in place then glue the backlight module down on top of the screen just to ensure it would stay in place during re assembly.
The process is nothing a handy person cannot overcome, however I wanted to share my experience so someone looking to order will be mentally prepared to spend more time then whats described in the video. Once all back together the module looks great it just took some additional effort and perseverance.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my Hobbyking products so far and once the challenges were overcome this was no different.
I ordered this item Saturday the 29th and received it today Wednesday the 3rd. 3 business days on standard shipping is QUICK! The item was as described and well packaged. The installation was very straight-forward. The page description was pretty clear with instructions. However, I read on other post and found that it was easier to lead the wires to the left rather than the right as the instructions recommend. there is more room on the left side of the LCD to avoid the 4 buttons on the right. The only other thing I would add would be, inbox instructions. other than that. A great product at a great price with quick sipping.
Very good backlight to upgrades your receiver, I installed first a EL system but this system is better and is led, you do not need to use a EL converter,..

This item is worth the money and I found it very easy to install. There are several good how to videos on youtube that make the process very easy for anyone to understand. So far I have added the backlight, done the battery mod, replaced the Transmitter antenna with a better one and attached the antenna directly to the module.
