you can use HK-5094 they r about 5 dolars each and easy to use you dont have mess with servos and these retracts are heavy for your warbird

if one servo for both more than 9 g. 12,5 g 2,5 kg will be enough

you can buy in hobbyking the Turnigy S3101S Servo. I use that servo for the retracts.

This mechanical retracts doesn't work very well sometimes. It's very hard to move. You need a servo very strong (and expensive). I used the BMS-136 Retract Servo 6.1kg / .31sec / 28g and finally I bought two Digital Servoless Retractable system (Producto ID: HKD-312) and it worked better.

Good mechanics, best price
Hight ~20mm, servo travel needed ~20mm
Weight without steel wire (retract only) = 25grams. Steel wire weight 20 grams. I replase steel wire with carbon legs and have 35 grams less.

Update: the servo linkage can easily be reversed for planes having narrow way retracts, like Me109 or Spitfire. The wire can also be rotated to have the spring turned 90° (for nose wheel action or wheels retracting in engine nacelles like on the DC-3)

- total weight 90 gms (2 @ 45 gms each)
- these would work on planes up to 5 lbs, equivalent to .40 size. (estimate not less than 2 lbs)
- as always, retracts work best/longest if you are capable of gentler landings, & on good runway surfaces, but these are designed and built to work reliably
- needs more than a micro servo to ensure that it can push past the "gear up & locked" position.
- needs 1" depth to mount flush to wing surface the 4 mounting screw holes are bevelled head for flush mounting as well!!
- mechanism has 4 screws to disassemble for inspection if required

These retracts work flawlessly, the wire truly is 3.5mm but when you bend it i would recommend to heat the wire first because it is a blit brittle. They are "Reversible" so you can disasseble them and change the way on the controlwire, that means you can still have one servo in the middle and have the retracts retract either inwards or outwards.

25mm deep in the wing. 20mm between mounting rails.
To reverse for Spitfire. Open it up, unscrew the hammer head on the actuator shaft and fit it backwards. Fit actuator shaft facing the other way, close it up.
