will this prop saver work on the turnigy D2826-6 2200kv motor? i know the shaft is right but is it likely that the prop will fly off because of the high thrust?
 Drugos 2003 points
I use this prop saver with my D2826-6 2200kv motor and it works perfectly.

will this work on a hexatronic 24g motor? the shaft is 3mm
 ElectricAussie 3009 points
Hi Chris, No you can't use this on a 3mm shaft. It won't fit properly and will work loose. For a 3mm shaft you should use PRODUCT ID: 3MPRPSVR, PRODUCT ID: OR019-00501-3, or PRODUCT ID: 19-502-3mX10. Cheers, EA!

Amazing how such a simple product can take so much time to deliver. Hobbyking productmanager, please contact your supplier, this is really frustrating...

My order that I placed on November 18 last year just shipped! It seems like they are still catching up on orders so hopefully you get yours soon.

Hey NewToHK, I am in the same position, 50 days on back order... Do you think I'll be able to achieve similar/workable results with a handheld drill? Regards, Lloyd

I'm waiting for it to complete my order. It is holding my order and your money. Get them in stock or find some alternative :) Is this the only one that fits 3,175 shaft?
 NewToHobbyKing 7065 points
Dariusz I had the same problem a while ago. This is the only 3.175mm but I bought 3mm ones. Prop Saver w/ Band 3mm (10pcs) SKU: OR019-00501-3. These and a New Drill Bit and a Drill Press. I know it is not perfect bit it works a treat. I am still using them. I hope this helps!!!
Lloyshius  2 points - 2/12/2013

Probably should change that `restocks every couple of weeks` to a couple of months at this point... :(
 ElectricAussie 3009 points
Hi LLoyd, Agreed! Because this is one of the few options available for 3.17mm shafts, you would think HK would overstock them since anybody thinking about ordering a motor with a 3.17mm shaft will hesitate if they can't fit it out properly. COME ON HOBBYKING, GET IT TOGETHER! Cheers, EA!

Do those screws act as grub screws aswell allowing it to fit on a shaft which isnt threaded?
 ElectricAussie 3009 points
Hi Mark, Yes, both screws bind against the shaft to secure the hub. The will stay tight on a smooth shaft, but I still prefer to grind a tiny flat spot on each side of shaft to ensure that the hub won't fly off if the screws loosen a bit during flight. Cheers, EA!

 Mark 8 points
thanks, are these compatiable with gws slow fly props?
 ElectricAussie 3009 points
Hi Mark, It should be compatible but you may need to size the hole in the prop to fit. It can be used with or without the extra bushing you see in the pic, so it fits a variety of props. Cheers, EA!
 Rdemptioner 431 points
just don't use it on a muticopter of any sort of with props above 8". They are designed for small parkflyers and flying wings where hitting the ground with the prop happens often, they are also better on motors wunning in pusher setup (motor mounted on the back of the plane pushing it along)
Wander  20 points - 12/5/2012

Can i use 3 blade props like the GWS HD9050 with this?
 ElectricAussie 3009 points
Hi Wander, A 3-blade won't work with this type of prop-saver because of the uneven forces on each side of the bands. You'll have twice as much force (2 blades) on one side vs. the other (1 blade), so the higher force side will lift away from the prop saver causing hideous prop wobble. Cheers, EA!

 Wander 20 points
makes sense. thanks
 Rdemptioner 431 points
aside from the 3 blade issue, you will also generate too much thrust for these to hold on correctly, stick to 8" 2 blade props or less.
James  68 points - 12/2/2012

it can handle it
 o0Jack0o 12 points
Hi James, It can handle it. :) I've had 3-4 very bad crashes, it's dented and bent and its still handling it. im using it with D2826-6 2200kv with 8x4 and 6x4 pros and its great.
SigiK  213 points - 12/1/2012

I would be concerned about using a prop saver on a motor with a 4mm shaft, as the power is probably too much for a prop saver to handle
 ElectricAussie 3009 points
Hi SigiK, I've used prop savers on a couple of different 3D foamies with 4mm shaft motors (Park480/1320kV). They work great as long as you double band the prop, which I do even on my 3mm motors to ensure that the prop stays on if one of the bands breaks. My concern with Richard's idea below was his ability to precisely bore out the hole to 4mm without introducing prop wobble. Cheers, EA!
Richard:)  5 points - 12/1/2012

can i drill this prop saver to accommodate a 4mm shaft? has anyone every done this or is it a stupid idea?
 ElectricAussie 3009 points
Hi Richard, My responses to your 3 questions are as follows: Yes, No, Probably. Unless you have a lathe or drill press to ensure that you drill the new 4mm hole perfectly straight, you're likely to produce some prop wobble. There are 2 different 4mm prop savers (10 pcs. w/bands) listed and in stock for under $4. See PRODUCT ID: OR019-00501-4 and PRODUCT ID: 19-502-4mX10. Cheers, EA!
 Gert 8 points
No not an appropriate doen.neem.
 Rdemptioner 431 points
never drill anything out when it comes to props and motors (don't let anyone tell you otherwise), it will never be done correctly or dead-center even using jigs. Just buy the 4mm shaft sized version
xan.g33k  106 points - 9/16/2012

can i use these for 3mm shaft? i think it would be unbal right
 ElectricAussie 3009 points
No, don't use this on a 3mm shaft motor. It will be unbalanced and will work loose when the motor is running. There are 2 different 3mm prop savers in stock that you can choose from: 1) PRODUCT ID: 19-502-3mX10 and 2) PRODUCT ID: 3MPRPSVR. The first one is a set of 10 for just a bit more than the single price. I've used them and they're pretty good. Best part is you get lots of rubber rings with it. Cheers, EA

Cheers, EA

How are these compared with the 10pieces pack ones?
 Aragorn 51 points
This has a better finish and quality compared to the 10 pieces pack.

Plus they fit 1 more size with the included hub adapter. But they're about 4 grams without band.

can i use thin on 3mm shaft ?
 Cardinals 77 points
No, I wouldn't. It's a big chance the prop will be out of balance, and cause unwanted vibrations.
 Drugos 2003 points
No,it will vibrate a lot and cause damages.Buy a 3mm propsaver instead.

How tight do you have to do up the screws to prevent the prop coming off in flight?
 Kissman 54 points
I am using standard screwdriver with little of hand power. Used on EPP to 1,5m and working well without problems.
 Drugos 2003 points
The screws are not soft so you can tight it very well to the shaft.
 dolino 38 points
Tight hard with srewdriver and this is it.
 Cardinals 77 points
Do not tight one first, then the other one! Remember to cross-tight, more and more on each of them. This helps to prevent an unbalanced prop.

hi I want buy this item for hexaCopter. HobbyKing Donkey ST2004-1550kv Brushless Motor. Which should I take the propeller adapter ?
 OldFartFlyer 1323 points
This is good for any 1/8" shaft motor. V. light and easy to hook up. No exp of your ST2004, sorry, so cannot say specifically. But should be okay if the shaft is that size.
 Ruslan 2 points
If the hole in the screw a little, it can be increased using a drill.
 Ivan 6 points
In the motor data it seas that the shaft is 3.0mm in diameter, so you should get 3mm prop saver!
 Kellyann 16239 points
Sir NO the HobbyKing Donkey ST2004-1550kv Brushless Motor has a Shaft: 3.0mm you need """"PRODUCT ID: 3MPRPSVR""""" 3mm Prop Saver w/ Adapter & 3 bands I hope this helps.

can i use it in 450 heli motors?
 christiano 78 points
yes, perfectly for heli motors with 3.17mm shaft
 p3tras 240 points
Yes, you can use this prop saver, but 450 heli motor is far too fast for normal airplane. Maybe it would be suitable for a jet with ~6x8 prop...
 OldFartFlyer 1323 points
If you wish, yes.
 Kellyann 16239 points
Fernando the 450 heli motor has a Shaft diameter: 3.175mm So this is perfect for it as long as you are using it in a plane with a prop. I hope this helps
SLOW STIK  53 points - 4/29/2011

Did a little research on the size 3.17 and 3.2. Most refer to it as 1/8 inch. Will one fit the other or should I stay specific ??
 cocopl 52 points
I measured this dimension of my digital Vernier Calipers and hole diameter is 3.21 mm (0,126 inch). screwing bolts eliminates backlash. Very good quality.
 SLOW STIK 53 points
So cocopl, your measurement states that the 3.17 and 3.2 are about the same or closer to 3.2. It is a good money saver product !
 byrumjr 277 points
Put some glue on the shaft and slide it on and it will work.
 Elton 18 points
The correct measure of the shaft is 3.17mm
 Lucas 4 points
If it has a little slop a thin layer of ca should do the trick . I highily recommend this for 3d foamies * says you money on props.
 OldFartFlyer 1323 points
For all practical purposes, you may call the 3.17mm and 1/8 inch dimensions identical. Just watch it on 3mm - which is not 1/8" equiv.
 __cpjr 9 points
Acredito eu que essa diferenca nao influencia na ora do voo
 SLOW STIK 53 points
Hey cpjr ! I only understand English and at times I cant understand my own language ! :) I only use these prop savers on my slo fliers because the thrust is low. My other faster models I use the collet style prop adapters.

This is a great value. I picked a couple of them up just to have on hand. They look very nice, and work exactly as they should. No slop on the 3.17mm shaft and no vibration. The supplied O-rings are also very good quality, and not too hard to install over the prop hub. Great item for the money.

Generally good, and does what is expected. Nice clean fit on 3.17mm shaft. Does not appear to interfere with thrust.

Loses a star because one of the screws was a sloppy fit, and started to strip out when tightened. Replacing the screws with better fitting ones salvaged the unit from being a complete loss.

If you do manage to break a prop with this (like me), you will probably lose the band as well. If you are likely to plough the turf often, it is probably best to get more bands too.
