This ESC/BEC combination died after 2 minutes of flight. Preflight testing showed a maximum 67 Amp motor current and a maximum 2.4 Amp servo drain. I was using a 6 cell LiPo Turnigy battery. This is well within the specifications for the Plush 80.
I lost my 40 size Piper Cub, one that I spent 6 months building. This ESC is advertised as having good quality control. Apparently, not good enough.
Post crash testing showed that the motor controller was damaged - it could bairely create the tones in the motor. Also, the BEC was not putting out enough to allow the Orange Rx to power up and bind. This ESC totally failed me.
Please could you tell me if this esc has a SWITCHING bec or a linear one. I have just toasted my 60a switching esc and hope this will be a better replacement. It was in an FMS P51D but I'd replaced the motor with a turnigy 4240. Thanks.
If you go to the "Files" section there is a copy of the manual for these ESC's,in the manual is the specs for all the Plush ESC's,some are linear and some are switching,this particular one (80amp) shows it as a switching BEC.

This ESC can handle 6s (25.2V) and 80a continous loading. With 24V/20a load it will be narrowly warm. Your motor NTM 5060 max amps are 90a. I recommend bigger, at least 100a ESC if you would like get all watts in use.
FYI....... This ESC will work when used with the Turnigy RotoMax 1.20 motor using 6s 5000mAh battery. At WOT with a wooden 20x12 prop its running at 58amps & 4900rpm & with wooden 19x10 prop pulling 48amp & 5200rpm with no glitches.so but with confidence for this application...

Roy, how/why do you know that refresh rate is really 400 Hz ? This is the first time I read this.
If this would be true it would be very good for Multirotors !!?
How can the 400Hz be asured or confirmed ?
That would depend on your motor, but as long as the motor does NOT exceed 60ams drawn, you would be fine. Make sure you put it in a place where it can get some decent cooling to ensure it will live a long and happy life. :)
What steps do you take to change the ESC motor timing from low (the default setting) to high on this ESC without using a programming card.
High is what's recommended when using the Alloy DPS Series 68mm EDF unit with 3580kv Motor for max performance.
Specs says 6S, so I do not recommend to even try with 7S. You will burn electronic. You should search for ESC HV There are plenty which are capable of 7S but they are more expensives

In a twin application you remove 1 of the esc red receiver wires. But you must make sure that the plane does not exceed the number of servo's the esc can handle. If you are running more than 5 servo's then you will need a separate BEC to run the servo's, retracts, etc.
its 12 awg always try to use the fat awg cable you can, the reason to plug two batteries in 10 awg is the internal resistence of the cable if the cable its thiner the resistance is bigger, that produce waste of power in heat, use 10 awg to join the batteries and try to use a plug that allows the conector of the esc, you can use xt60 or similar
watts depends on whow many cells you use, the gold rule is that never exceed the max amp rate, watts = voltage x ampers , the esc can delivier more watts one 4s than in 3s, exp

i had this esc on a Turnigy L3015A-1000 Brushless Motor and works great, keep in mind that its always better buy a bigger esc with more amps for a motor to avoid damage, its not healthy running 80 amps on a esc of 80 amps, i
yeah it will ,but stall current is as much as 1 amp but they wont all stall at once. Does the external bec hook 2 esc or does it just act as a balancer at 5v for the receiver so i can use a reg auxillary lipo and if so why not just buy 5v receiver packs .?
if you connect external bec you iron the input of the bec to the main connector goes to the main battery.you must disconnect the red wire from the esc wire that goes to receiver.the bec gives you all the power need to receiver and servos.the bec is not just a balancer it is external regulator.

When motor load abruptly changes, the ECS cause a motor stall. The phenomenon was verified on two different motors. It seems be a problem for 3D low exercises. Controller algorithm needs to be altered to work with particular loads or motors.
Musste beim ersten Test leider feststellen, dass der Controller nur 2,2V am Throttleausgang bringt. Hoffe auf Umtausch.

este speed muito ruim, no fuciona bem com a maioria dos motores que eu os testei. Ao iniciar acelerao, da umas "enroscadas" muito loucas. Testei em alguns motores diferentes e configuraes diferentes (timing, sof start entre outros). coloquei um castle creations e todos os motores funcionaram bem

Wahrscheinlich produzieren die Chinesen nur Montags. Der erste schaffte mal grade 32 Amp und schaltete dann ab, der Ersatz schaffte schon 40 Amp. Mglich da der siebte Ragler dann die 80 Amp. erreicht, ich frchte nur solange gibt keine Garantie.

This controller is only good for the lower performance motors. Does not have the capabilities to handle high performance motors. I tried it on the Axi and the Torcman 430-20-20 14 pol. The controller cannot handle these motors and cannot sync properly with them. It cannot handle the low end and high end throttle. It just stutters and makes a high pitch noise and losses power completely. To regain power and sync you have to throttle back and slower advance the throttle again. Waste of money. For the high end motors get a esc that have the full range of programming for the timing and switching frequencies.
