I'm just wondering what u could use this for. It will run on USB voltage.5V.. How could I hook it up.

You could use it with an arduino. You dont need USB to read out the sensor.
Use it as encoder for robot-wheels. Just paint some black lines on a white spurgear and count pulses. Good to syncronize two dc-motors to run straight.
