Durafly once again set the standard with this high quality A-1 Skyraider which has enough scale detail and features to keep any warbird enthusiast happy. The 1100mm range offers the RC pilot a practical size model that can be easily transported and uses the ever popular 2200mAh 3s Lipoly pack, yet at the same time, the model is large enough to have presence and is able to tackle most airfields, not to mention a little wind, making it very practical.
As well as looking fantastic, this Skyraider is plug and fly, meaning very little assembly work is needed. The powerful outrunner motor, ESC, navigation lights, servoless Twist & Turn electric retracts, gear doors & servos are all pre-installed leaving you to glue on the tailfeathers and some scale detailing, bolt on the plug in wings and go flying!
We have flown this superb A-1 Skyraider extensively during testing and it will not disappoint, there is plenty of power for those really scale warbird aerobatics and the airframe is viceless with no hint of a tip stall. The pre-installed flap servos have a nice, slow operation to help prevent ballooning and the flaps themselves allow the approach speed to get down to a crawl without a hint of wingrock. There is no doubt, this is one fantastic looking warbird and it flies as easily as a low wing trainer!
Features: Ultra Scale Detail High Quality Construction & Finish Plug & Fly, simply add RX and Lipoly (not included) and fly! Optional missiles and drop tanks, model features additional clean wing panels Pre-Installed Twist and Turn Retracts with rubber tyres & functional gear doors INCLUDED Tough EPO Foam Construction Flaps fitted AS STANDARD with slow operation servo's for realism and to prevent ballooning Pre-Installed Navigation Lights Easy and Fast Construction
Has any one else had a problem with the lack of customer service at hobby king? Its been over a month that i received my A1 skyraider with a defective landing gear and still cannot get a answer from them
I've had same problems in past, just keep sending them the notice. Are u putting in your shipping code in your request? also go to your cart site &look down to the orange highlites to see if there's a answer there. butch
I have attached a couple of photos of the motor alignment on my new A-1D. I took the motor off and the firewall appears to be aligned correctly. The only thing I notices is that there are only three protrusions on the firewall for screw holes. The motor appears out of alignment even if I only use the three holes. Any ideas. Take a look at your Spad and tell me it it looks like this: target=_blank>Engine Alignmen or this
David, the motor is suppose to look offset to counter the gyro and P factor forces. One of my Spads came missing a motor mount screw, but there should be four screws and the motor should angle to the right and down.
Well, you could use a servo-tester. Like this is a good www.link just find a power source, ie. a receiver battery, and plug and chug away. Hope that helps! :)
Yes you can. You will probably need to up the ESC to at least a 50, but a 40 might work if you prop down. There is even a 49 gram weight buried in the nose of this plane that can be removed to compensate for the 4s battery. To prop down you will need to make a custom prop adapter or you won't clear the cowl.
I decided to try something fresh and new with RC FPV: Third Person FPV. This was the first flight and first aircraft that I will have done this with. More to come. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crr6pm-4zbY
The different prices are: $125.99 from the International Warehouse ($56 shipping to US = $181.99 total) $140.90 from the US Warehouse ($15 shipping to US = $155.90 total)
So if you live in the US you save a little money, but if you want the plane it you can still get it from the other warehouse and just pay a little more.
Learn how to stack your planes up better...Thats what I do :)..I Love this Spad & have been wanting it forever..Finally pushed the button..Hope it flys as nice as it looks. ( even from the usa warehouse..Shipping Is ridiculous ) Must be HOW HK makes it's $$ Overpriced Shipping fees :(
Beautiful detail in this model. Had people pulling their cameras out as we taxied it to the runway. Really does fly at half a stick, scale. Balanced perfect out of the box.
Take some time and care getting the horns in, pre-drilling might be an option for the receiving plastic bits. Certainly no issue in getting it put together.
We bought some Turnigys along with it and all connections matched up, so no soldering to make it work.
Did have one thumb print on the fuselage from rough handling before paint. Hard to see but all the same. The retract system works really well - nice solution. You may want to adjust with adding some magnets to more strongly capture the doors when closing. The way it hooks together can be a little delicate so be careful you don't break a mounting point if you are fooling around in there.
My son adds that when you are flying upside-down, it can be really sluggish and full elevator may be needed to save the model (not his wallet eh?).
The flaps are great with our Spectrum 6i but make sure you are careful coming in. Flight characteristics change a lot when you start meeting up with the ground effect - as you might expect on a real plane. If you abort an landing, get the flaps off when you hit the gas - or be ready to react!
Good flying!

Purchased this from HobbyKing...arrived quickly and WOW...what a beautiful model. Balanced perfectly...has enough power on 3S...My buddy has the Corsair and it's beautiful. This is my first Durafly and I've got over 20 planes. I'm thinking if they are all this good I'm going to have a few more.

This aircraft was an easy plane to fly right from the maiden. Just a little trim of aileron and it was hands-off flying for straight and level. Retracts are robust(strong). Prop has plenty of pull to get her airborne. Flight time is 4 min. on 3s 2100mah lipo. Some of the pilots I fly with like the detail and flight characteristics. I would recommend the Durafly brand for looks and flight.

Just got my A1 on Christmas day. Easy assembly and I had the A1 in the air the next day. Slapped in 3 cell 2.2 LiPo with stock prop and this bird was in the air quick with hardly any effort. I still scratch my head how easy this plane floats and lands. Very good product.
