My Camera is 4 months old but the battery looks like its failing already. The yellow charge light wont go out and the charge time is dropping. Anyone else had this problem?
Titus Gordon  5 points - 5/20/2013

Here's some fun proximity flying shot with the HD Wing Camera II in 1280x720 60fps. check it out!

Your comparsion with the Gopro guys?
 Titus Gordon 5 points
The GoPro handles light/dark transitions better from what I hear.
 JiaCheng 23 points
GoPro is DEFINITELY better. Just go compare the videos of GoPros and the above videos.

Hi Is it possible to turn it on/off change setting from the tx with some external cabeling? And how easy is it to power it from the normal flight battery and remove the lipo? Kim
Oliver  1 points - 5/13/2013

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a 170 degree lens for this camera? - If so can you please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
Andrew  1 points - 5/9/2013

FYI, I broke the USB / charging cable on mine, so I had no way to recharge the battery, and there's no standard cable to replace the broken one. The cable uses a custom pinout and unusual connector (not the normal micro USB connector). I ended up taking my camera apart and finding a 1S LIPO inside. I cut the leads to that and was able to charge it outside of the camera.

Can i use this for fpv as well as recording?
 Raytrax 14 points
Yes, you can use for fpv. In this video this camera is compare with go pro vimeo(dot)com(slash)45969647 for fpv system
 Andrew 1 points
The camera does have a standard analog video audio output (with included cables, via the 8-pin connector), so it could be connected to any normal video transmitter. It's field-of-view is narrower than most cameras used for FPV, so you would have "tunnel vision" when flying with this - you could only see what's directly in front of you, not the surrounding environment.
 ernst 1 points
Andrew, im not sure ur right unless they changed the lens, Got my wing cam a week ago and it has a wide angle "fish eye" lens! it practically lets u see to the sides. Saying that, i didnt find it was a very good camera. the picture and lens are the best part, video playback quality is great. But mine will not hold an overnight charge and i cant get it to work with the Video Tx the picture is jumping around the screen (all my other cameras work fine) For less money on ebay you can get a 1080p camera with waterproof covering. remember one drop of rain on the exposed circuit board and this thing is toast. that's a lot of money up in smoke!
 Andrew 1 points
I was contrasting this camera with the popular GoPro cameras. They have a 170 degree field-of-view, with a very noticible fisheye effect. This camera has a 120 degree field-of-view, which isn't perfect, but much more natural looking.

Dear Hobby King, Great Camera would just like to be able to use it!!!, just frustrating it came with no leads!!!, box damaged and just left on door step, possibly not HobbyKings fault but would apreciate some customer support from there side, how many pictures of a damaged cardboard box do they need!!!10 days and still not resolved.
Scott  1 points - 5/6/2013

Dear Hobbyking,
Why do you still allow these cameras to be shipped without manuals? After reading all of the posts below I think you could improve your customer satisfaction by simply adding simple instructions in proper english.
BTW: Great camera!
Scott
 Raytrax 14 points
Because so you save money in the product and you can download it(manual or others) from the tab "files" *-)
douglas  1 points - 5/5/2013

Has anyone tried putting a different lense on it and where would you find a different lense?
 Scott 1 points
I haven't tried replacing the lens myself but try this www.link like they offer many different Micro-camera lenses that would fit this camera.
 Scott 1 points
Looks like the link gets sutomatically deleted when I post. Try ahdcameras****

Douglas, you can visit rchacker(dot)com and search "Hobbyking camera". There are several hacks for this camera in this web.
Daniel  4 points - 5/4/2013

I am suprised to announce that this camera will survive being in a muddy stream, completely submerged for 2 minutes (While filming). I left it to dry near a fan for 24hrs and all works perfectly! Unfortunately the video file failed to save itself, that is the only complaint i have :P
 Raytrax 14 points
Thanks for sharing your experience, it is good to know that supports moisture.
Frantisek  1 points - 5/4/2013

Hello, yesterday I received the camera. Everything appears to be functional. Aside from recording audio with the video. The camera records video but no sound! If you run only audio recording, so the sound is recorded. The microphone is therefore good. But why did not sound in the video? I also tried the factory settings - the same result, no sound. Camera firmware is: R952/20120814. What to do? I am very disappointed = o / Fanda
 Raytrax 14 points
It can be several things. You `haven`t properly configured the camera, the camera is faulty and finally, you forgot to turn on the speakers *-) Go to the configuration menu and check it.
Stuart  1 points - 5/3/2013

Results with this cam from yesterday. Mounted upside down under the battery tray of a Walkera Hoten X quadcopter then image reversed with Windows Live Movie Maker. Filmed at 720p and 60fps to eliminate jello.

Enjoy

Hi, have down loaded manual thanks for that, they have copies of invoices, photos of packaging so I guess its just wait until it get to the top of the customer support list!!! Have re written a second ticket and no response to it either Think a week for a response is very poor
richard  1 points - 5/2/2013

Hi just recieved the Camera, looks great only one problem no instructions or cables! The box all smashed up but camera still in it!. Have contacted customer support for over a week and no responce very poor for a 24hr customer support.
 Raytrax 14 points
Go to Files section to see manual for this camera. And the pack includes hdmi cable and charger cable. Support is slow but effective... Rewrite in same support ticket and include photo of your order, and wait. If its necessary change priority of ticket.

I just recieved this cool cam and am charging. Dwnloaded manual fine, cannot find a description for the little chrome knob located near the lenz, anyone able to tell me what it does?.

you mean the vibrator motor, which is activated to move around the menu. you can enable in setting menu
Manoo  1 points - 4/26/2013

Does anybody know how to upgrade or reinstall the firmware of this camera? I've got mine couple of days ago and now it seems the system got a problem!!! it shows different malfunctions!!! sometimes stops recording by itself, sometimes it wont turn off!!! and sometimes when you try to turn it off the vibrator keeps working and it doesn't turn off!!! Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? I thought maybe it will be fixed if I re-install the firmware!! Thanks. Manoo

What USB cable is that? Doesn't look like a mini USB or micro USB to me.
 Manoo 1 points
It's a micro USB!
davidpc2  225 points - 4/24/2013

Has anyone tried to separate the lens from the board and/or battery so that the lens could be very lightweight and installed apart? Not R/C application by the way. Thanks
monjon868  8 points - 4/23/2013

ok ,so I managed to get mine working by taking off the lens from the board and reinstalling it a couple of times ,before I did this it would not save anything or switch off once started. It appears to have had a loose connection or the contact points were not touching
 martin555 31 points
HEY PLS HELP . mine STOPPED recording!! TV works!! format via TV menu works.. starting works, blue led.. but can NOT record to SD card. what did you fix HELP!
 monjon868 8 points
if you are getting live video feed through your tv ,then its not the lens problem that I had, but probably a card problem .it would be best to use a high quality class 10 card and be sure that the contacts are good by pressing on the card while trying to record
 monjon868 8 points
I have just thrown mine in the bin ,too unreliable only worked when it felt like it and it was not worth the hassle of sending back with the freight cost from where i am.
Timothy  1 points - 4/23/2013

Is there that much improvment with the Camera 2 over the 720p Camera to warrent buying it?
 monjon868 8 points
once I got mine to work ,it looked to be better than the last one but not quite as good as the go pro.when editing it can cause some problems.
NELSON  1 points - 4/23/2013

What type of video transmitters this cam can be connected to in order to use it for FPV. What type of connector that would be?
BlackShooter  6 points - 4/20/2013

Is it possible to flash this camera to get rid of the darkness in the evening?
 Jimbolina1 224 points
No, this is a limit of the optics of the camera. You can get better low light results by useing the 720p 30 fps setting. I have found I get fair results down to 3 lux in full1080 and as low as 1 lux in the 720 setting but not real good color seperation. A lot of shadow effect. Scroll down and find my Sunset Sea Vixen video to see near limit of good low light full 1080p recording.Happy Landings

Hello together, today was the wing cam II delivered. All include, but no manual! I have the same problem, as werner. 6 weeks for delivery are too much! No invoice on the outer side of the parcel. Without anything it´**s not possible to make a customs declaration, because the products are very similar, without any documentation. Assuming that you already sent items to Germany, you should know that customs need an invoice attached to the package. Best regards, Robert.
leonardo2828  1 points - 4/18/2013

why it`s not compatible with 433mhz lrs???PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS.
 Jimbolina1 224 points
Leonardo. The camera itself generates RF noise in the 433mhz range. As this camera has no shielding what so ever the noise is pretty strong. The GoPro and similar cameras also create this noise. You can add shielding to reduce and even eliminate it but at a huge weight increase. The FPV LAB website has a good thread regarding this and some solutions. I would however suggest ground testing any solutions you might try and preferably using a good frequency scanner. Hope this helps and happy landings.

I just have seen the difference which is the HDMI Out. So I have the wing cam II. Why is it not possible to give a complete web adress with the manual, I´*ve seen so many coments of people who have the product but no manual? Up to now it´*s worthless
 Jimbolina1 224 points
Werner the manual is posted again under the file section just above the discussions.

1 thumbs up!
If anyone has used a HD808 keychain camera #11 #16 or #18 you will notice a huge difference in Quality! Pros: Stable 720p 60fps (Many small cameras loose frames) Stable 1080p 30fps (Great quality but takes a lot of work to remove "Jello when used on aircraft) Night Mode for low light conditions (works but tries to keep colors) Cons: ODD video file (AVI/H264) Most applications will not edit this) Does not come with Video out/Power cable like an HD808 #18 (So you can charge and have video out at the same time) Does not have WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) Brightnes hunting is smooth but slow. Not in the US warehouse! (hobbyking, you have to get more stuff in the USA warehouse! Overall: Buy It! Great camera, the Video Quality is great and the Brightness problem can be fixed by aiming the camera more at the ground.

Compare it with GoPro. Video specs of gopro are 1080p: 1920×1080, 30FPS. 960p: 1280×*960. 48FPS 30FPS. 720p: 1280×*720, 60FPS 30FPS. exact same specs of HDWC-II. Looking at the pluses:-

1. 1/3 the cost of Gopro (Of course, this one is cosmetically good looking)
2. Has an HDMI out.
3. Weighs only 86 gms.
4. Unlike HDWC-I, which required class-6 & above microsd card, which costs more, here you need class-4 and above, so some price saving there too.
It delvers what it says, no more dark images during low light conditions due to larger aperture camera. Good Product
