The F-TEK 31AP is an inertial attitude measurement instrument used for automated stabilization of fixed wing model aircraft and simple three axis camera gimbals It features an integrated three-axis gyro and three-axis accelerometer which controls the aircraft movement in three-dimensional space.
The F-TEK 31AP also incorporates an accurate barometric pressure sensor. At start up, the take-off air pressure is measured, providing the autopilot with an accurate relative height data. This flight controller supports the use of aGPS module which enables the autopilot to calculate the flight course and exact location of the aircraft. This allows for precise GPS positioning as well as "return to home" functionality. If the FY31AP is not connected to a GPS module, the autonomous flight system cannot be engaged and it will function purely as a flight stabilizer.
The F-TEK OSD overlays flight telemetry information onto your video image. The telemetry information displayed includes flight altitude, flight speed, flight direction, home direction and so on. You also can save the telemetry information to a MICRO SD card (available separately). The
F-TEK OSD/F-TEK 31AP combo includes the F-TEK 31AP to display autopilot telemetric data, and a GPS receiver to display positioning data.
F-TEK OSD automatically adapts to either PAL or NTSC video input and confirms if there is a MICRO SD card or not. The adaptive processes are within about 20 seconds.
Once the input video is detected (even if there is interruption to the video signal), the telemetry data of the F-TEK OSD will continue to be transmitted via the video stream.

For beginners in RC aircraft flying, this is advantageous as it makes flight easier and increases the student pilot's self-confidence. You can set the circling radius, the default radius is 80 meters. • Return to Home - You can set autonomous return to home via a 3 way switch or through your failsafe setting, enabling your aircraft to return to home should it lose your transmitter signal. Upon reaching the home point it will automatically engage auto circling, while it waits for your further instructions. • First Person View - for long-distance RC flight via video transmitter, the F-TEK 31AP will maintain the balance of your aircraft. You only need to control the heading of your aircraft and enjoy the view.

isn't real this affirmation.
If somebody believe that this product dont have technical support by the company "FeiYu Electronic Technology Co., Ltd" I have asked about it, and they say "YES" you have technical support for products manufactured by them and that HobbyKing sell.
This is the response they sent me: "Yes, surely we do, please email your questions to our service department. mail to jessica * feiyu-tech . com"
Just want to give a quick caution on the 31AP - I've had one for about 6months now and have nothing but problems, the unit will randomly fail mid-flight and cause the plane to either pitch full up or full down - this used to happen occasionally but now happens on every flight, another issue is the gyro requires resetting several times per day. I know of two other people flying at my club with the same issues. Also I found the neutral switch (switch 4) no longer works on any of the 3 units I've seen. My advice is to avoid this unit, I've switched to the Arkbird and a mate of mine is now using the FY-DOS with better results.
I am having trouble configure eagle tree osd RTH. I have ET tracker and all so would like to keep ET osd . I have been using one of this system for very long time no problem. Works every time I need it . EVERY TIME. (forget to attach radio antenna. ground station batt. Dead. Camera unplug.) the list is long. Can this flight stabilizer work with ET osd ? Will I be able to see RTH on the osd ?
Its a bit late for a reply but this may help others who have the same issue. The 31AP is fed 5v from the receiver (usually) via one of the servo connectors but needs a separate 12v supply for the OSD, you can take this directly from the battery if you're on 3s but should use a step-down if you're on 4s as this is used to feed the camera & video tx.

With all these speed controllers I have the same problem. Please let me know if you find a solution.
you need to program the escs. have instruction in the flide tabs to esc find the curse of stick of your radio tx.
after program turn off rx first to save the configuration.
I own the fy-31ap trade edition which this is. I find the hornet OSD to be excellent. The auto stabalization works flawlessly. However, return to home is abit hit and miss. It requires a stable plane with typical characteristics. A warning about the software though, at this stage (an has been so for many months), it is very very unreliable. The software quits, creates errors and corrupts itself requiring a uninstall and deletion of the software. It also requires a fast pc core I series, 4gb ram etc. The software is full of spelling mistakes and reading the manual will give you absolutely no idea on what the majority of parameters do. Its very much product that requires a lot of time and testing by the user to understand and configure correctly. That said, I hope that it now being on hobbyking will put pressure on fy to improve the pc software and manual.

i have posted a video for this system.
I have tested many flights with waypoints, sometimes it works, other times not. almost lost my plane because of that. that being said, i managed to return home using RTL function which worked great. i still have this product but now it is defective...i.e., it locks on ACM mode only or simply shuts down (ouch!!) or all lights come on solid, not good. Hence I wrote to FYTECH about this. I even upgraded to latest firmware and recalibrated it many times. I used it since it came out in November of 2011 but now it is obviously not reliable. I simply use Hornet with GPS and hope for the best I don't lose video signal when flying. why 3 crowns, well at first it worked excellent (not the waypoints) then now (10 months after) it is broken...

Just got my f-tec 31ap and set it up in my park zone radion glider one word wow! This thing is bloody amazing I flew it out of sight and then flicked on the auto return it came right back to me then started doing circles until I took control back this system is going to be great for my fpv setup worth every penny.

Acabo de instalar el osd y copiloto de hobbyking copia de hormet.
Tiene vuelta a casa, vuelo en círculos, vuelo manual, vuelo con copiloto, vuelo hacia un punto…
Evidentemente viene sin manual, pero un aficionado me lo ha pasado traducido.
De momento he volado cinco vuelos de 20 minutos.
He de decir que la vuelta a casa RTL, hace un poco el tonto y le cuesta un poco encontrar el rumbo de vuelta, da un poco de miedo pues a veces aborto, dado que el rumbo tomado no parece el adecuado.
Cuando llega a casa pasa de RTL a vuelo en círculos ACM, de forma automática.
El osd se calienta bastante, es bueno ponerlo fuera, bien refrigerado, en los foros comentan que por culpa de que se calienta, se producen reseteos intermitentes, por suerte a mi, no me ha pasado.
El primer vuelo fue des animador, pues los mandos iban bien en tierra y en vuelo manual, pero en vuelo al poner piloto, el avión empezaba a hacer lupins y picados…, hasta que revisando descubrí que la dirección de los mandos no era la misma con vuelo manual que con copiloto y al activar el copiloto el mando de profundidad, actuaba al revés.
Otra cosa a tener en cuenta, es la posición del cable blanco y negro que va del copi al osd, si se pone invertido, el osd se resetea indefinidamente.
Sobre todo, no olvidéis configurar el fail safe, yo lo he puesto con un

Decir, que el copiloto hay que instalarlo lejos del receptor de la radio, de lo contrario, cuando le damos RTL, se vuelve loco y no vuelve directo.
