It has been a long time coming but the Hobbyking Team Itchy Thumbs Domin-8-Trix has been worth the wait, designed with one thing in mind.... hardcore 3D!

The Domin-8-Trix has the highest build quality, offering a combination of strength, ultra lightness and precision as only balsa can. The attractive colour scheme is finished in top quality and expertly applied covering, leaving you to simply apply the decals. The supplied hardware, which is more than up to the job of handling extreme 3D Maneuvers, is first class. The cowl and spats are glassfiber with an excellent deep gloss finish. The Domin-8-Trix is as practical as you would expect and features plug in wings and a large canopy which is secured by a proper latch, this fantastic looking model just screams quality.

This model is a looker for sure but performance is really what the Domin-8-Trix is about, the amazingly light flying weight and large control surfaces combine to give precise control, allowing the 3D pilot to really push the limits and with the right power train, the Domin-8-Trix will have unlimited vertical. I just got this and Im new to purchasing "Kits" Everything in the past I have had has been ARF so I'm not sure what considerations I should have when selecting motor, ESC Spinner and props. could someone recommend to me a full set up for this plane. And any recommendations on how to fix the tail issue on this model. Thanks guys.

I've wanted one of these for a while. After finally purchasing it arrived quickly and well boxed. I opened it and assembled it carefully. I noticed the tail plane felt flimsy and could not see the carbon or steel parts hobby king was talking about as I was assured this flaw was fixed. I sent them an email to confirm I got the revised edition and they confirmed I had. So off I went for my first flight and it seemed to be going well, until the right hand side stabiliser and elevator snapped and started flailing around in the breeze. I landed very roughly resulting In a broken prop and smashed the landing gear mount into the body. Beyond repair. And guess what? There is no carbon or steel joiner any where in the rear tail plane. What a joke. I have opened a complaint so we will see what they do... Otherwise steer clear of this plane.

has anyone figured out why the hor.stab. breaks of this plane? I want to order one but not if is gona break up in flight

It is tthe same with almostt all 3D planes this size. In order to save weight, the manufactors skip regidity. You are left with a thin, weak tail section* however, there is a way to solve this problem. Carbon fiber. Rienforce the elevator everywhere, and you should be good. Hobbyking is suppposedly trying to fix the problem, but who knows if they'll actually do it.

The Money Shot has the same problem. I'm on my 4th one now and not any more trouble. I strengthened the elevator with diagonal braces in the open bays. This meant cutting off the covering on the underside of the elevator. But the real problem is elevator flutter which I corrected by adding 5 grams of weight to each elevator half in the "counter balance" area (forward of the hinge line). To date all the speed and 3D I put it through* the elevator holds. I just now ordered the Domin-8-Trix and the first thing I do before assembly is correct the elevator. It probably would not hurt the rudder either.

So far, I've heard of this phenomenon in the Domin-8-trix, the Moneyshot, and the Edge V3. We warned you (who ever is reading this) so reinforce the tail!!!

I was surprised at how beautiful this plane is when it arrived safely at my door. I assembled the plane and used the same servo's and motor as in Michael Wargo's youtube video but I chose to use a 60a esc. I gave it the maiden flight yesterday and as many others have already stated I had the complete right side of the horizontal stabilizer break in mid flight while trimming out the plane. If you want a hanger queen it will fit the bill but if you want to tear up the sky you will need to reinforce the entire tail section. I was very fortunate that I was able to save the plane and the only damage is the right side of the horzontal stabilizer and the right wheel pant which took some damage from the hard landing. I am currently waiting to see if they are going to replace the plane as repairing it would be difficult due to not being able to acquire the same color covering material. I sent multiple pics of it before and after the horizontal stab sheared off to the support team at HK.

Beautiful plane, I overpowered with 42/40 Turnigy and 60 amp esc. No problems with high speed. I did change the ca hinges, the supplied were too small and week, I suspect failures others had was from hinge failure. 10 flights so far with no problems.

Second Domin 8 Trix on order, first one I crashed due to pilot error. At least I will have spare parts now. These planes fly great but you will need to strengthen the horizontal stabs for sure. My first flight with this model had the same result as other Domin 8 Trix owners had..... horizontal stab snapped off in flight. Fortunately landed ok. I installed a small carbon fiber rod on the top side and bottom side of stab. Must make them one piece and install them through the fuselage. Works great.

Very nice model. Would highly recommend it. For now, the combination of NTM 36-36A 910Kv with 2200 3s with 12x6 isn't strong enough. It barely hovers. I might use a smaller battery like 1500 or 1800mah...
