Upgrade your 50cc size gas engine model with the Turnigy RotoMax 50cc Brushless outrunner motor. This motor will provide clean and efficient power for your large scale aircraft without the mess and hassle of nitro fuel.

When combined with a 10s Lipoly battery, 24x12/26x12" Propeller and a 180Amp ESC the RotoMax motor will supply punchy, responsive power that only an electric setup can provide.

This motor is specifically suited for carbon fiber & wooden propellers and features an IC style 4 bolt hole design. The shaft has also been tapped to suit a 4mm bolt to make fitting a spinner of your choice easy.

I was hoping to use 2 of these on a home-made electric ultralight, with the suggested props. Does anyone know about how much thrust you will get with a 10-cell lipo (will be running about 20ah) and a 26x12 prop? Will a pair of these outpower a single 100cc version, be the same, or be weaker? They will be mounted on the wings, one on each side. This would be a great setup, about $1500 for a quiet electric ultralight.

I have the 50cc rotomax and castle hv160 on 12s and i am only pulling 111 amps with a vess 24a. A 160 is over kill imo.

Is the "B" length in the product config table from the mounting tabs to the prop adapter face? Is there a better drawing of the motor?

Why does it say it can only run on ten cells but needs a 12 cell ESC. Plus 120 amps max but It needs a 180 amp ESC. I'm confused. Help

This means, you need an ESC, who can handle a little bit more A and V, for secure working.

A good rule of thumb is the ESC should be rated for 125% of the max amp draw of the motor. In this case that would be 150amps. However most people running this spec motor are using a 160amp ESC for safety. I will be testing this RotoMax 50cc with a 120amp ESC and hope it holds.

Recently purchased this motor to power a 88" Yak 54 running on 12S Turnigy 6S 40C 5000 packs. The ESC is a HobbyKing YEP 120HV with 24 degrees of timing and 12 kHz PWM. So far, so good. Max amp draw is measured with watt meter at 118amps. Temperature of both ESC and motor are good. If running the YEP ESC make sure to enable freewheel, no gov.

50cc Rotomax with a castle hv 160 & zippy flight max 5000 30c 6s x 2 is a real good setup on 12s with a vess 24a prop. max amp draw was 111 amps so i have plenty of over head with that esc. And this setup is in a toc 33pcnt yak 54. It rip's that prop sounds awesome in the air.
