The Hobbyking X550 is a high quality folding-arm quadcopter frame that offers great looks and performance at a price that can't be beat! Built from light weight yet rigid glass fiber and aluminum, the X550 offers a great combination of weight savings and strength.
This quad features folding arms which make it easy to transport and store. The arms are also two different colors for orientation, silver and red, so it's easy to keep your quad flying in the right direction.
This quad frame also supports an optional tilt camera mount which allows for carrying a wide variety of cameras. (Please see related items below for optional camera mount)
We offer a full line of multi-rotor electronics such as multi-rotor control board, ESC, motors and more, so it has never been easier or more affordable to get a quad in the air!
All necessary hardware is included, just add your own electronics.
Required: Multi-Rotor control board 15~25A brushlessESC x 4 3S 1800~2200mAh lipoly battery 28-XX 1100~1300KV brushless motor x 4 8x4 propeller - 2 standard/2 reverse rotation
Note: All Hobbyking X series frames are purchased factory direct. We have worked closely with the factory engineers to ensure quality. All X series frames are CNC cut and accurately milled unlike many of the cheap frames available from Ebay or Chinese vendors that are drilled by hand in low tech factories. The Hobbyking X series also feature thicker GF main plates for added stength.
check to on ebay. they have frame and motors too while HK's is backorder. better to use less expensive gear. trim your quad so it's stable as possible and fly low and get use to flying. this was when you might have to land it's not so high up. i learned to fly on grass so landing was softer. let me know how you do.
i also would have been fine with the motors you got since you can use 8 inch props. they are much more available than 9 or some 10 inch props. my next quad will have 8 inch props.
Does anyone know if and where I can get a 3D cad drawing of this frame? I'm sure hobbyking has it but are those files open to the public? I'm asking since I want to print out a custom gopro mount for my frame and having the exact measurements right off of a drawing would really simplify things.
-Thanks in advance
This is Bull****!! The only reason we give Hobby King our money for Back Order goods (which they make money/interest off) is because Hobby King state they will restock in 30 days. If their not holding up their end of the bargain why should we?? Why do they take our money before the item is in stock anyway? Shouldn't our money be taken out once the order is processed and been sent?
Yes you can. 10x4.5 will give most power but shorter flight times. But i think 8x4.5 is more better choice. Try to use online RC calculator at www . ecalc . ch
Hi,
It says this item will be "restocked in 30 days". But I think its already been 30 days and no sign of the quad till now.
Why? :( . I dont think this is discontinued is it?

Hi buddys
I have a Hobbyking X550 Glass Fiber Quadcopter Frame 550mm and 04 NX-4006-530kv Brushless Quadcopter Motor
I dont know how to fit the motor on the frame, maybe I miss some adapter and screw but dont know which and where.
Somebody help??
Thanks.
Manrico
The X550 needs a 28-XX engine.. Your engine is 40-06 and your mounting holes are 13mm or 27mm apart. You need an adapter from either one of your mounting holes to the quad.
hi guys. check the files for my fotos (have date 27/12) to see how i inspired to work with this progect. X8 mode. all motors have disassebled for (blueprind)correct assebly with grese in the ballbearings balance the rotors and change the circlip with black steel in the correct thicknes. the multicopter weight about 2kgr and easyly lift off with 4 motors only!! props size 8x4.5 time to upgrate to carbon ones for serious FPV flilgts. chears.
I've filled the data again and used: xCopter Weight: 312gr (without drive)- Weight per Cell: 132gr - Controller Weight: 29gr* - Motor Weight: 86 gr. Didn't enter Flight controller, Rx and Cables. Gives 15.93 flight and 18.95 hover. Neither the less It gives an alert also: * For good maneuverability you need Throttle of less than 80% *.
Hi all,
After a WL v929 to start getting the felling, I want to move forward in aerial photo/movie and don't want to waste an intermediate quad. I've ended up with this config. Any mistake in this?
(eCalc Xcopter gives me 22 min Hover, without the camera)

- Hobbyking KK2.0 Multi-rotor LCD Flight Controller

Super Li-Po for multirotor, 2 pieces parallel plug in power plug for ESC (2100mAh / 84A max / 42Ax2) ideal size and weight. 3 pcs is 3150mAh and 126A :) Rhino 1050mAh 3S 11.1v 40C Lipoly Pack
I think not because they were missing in mine, they had to order from manufacturer but it even took so long. 3M (3mm) screws and bolts will match perfectly. The lenght of the screws which connect motors should be about 25mm
Might be a while since they went out of stock 2 weeks ago

Hallo Zusammen.
Counter Rotating Combo 8043 (8043*1 & R8043*1) (2 x 3pc) is ok fpr this ?

This frames works pretty well. I have a Turnigy Aerodrive 1050kv and 9x4.7 props and it flies great and lasts a little over 10 minutes. A lot of the hardware is hex key so make sure you have a good set of small ones. The only thing I didn't like is how you need to glue the spacers to the board and then mount a standard sized controller. Make sure you use some really good glue to hold them down and it's a little difficult to get everything crammed in there well. I would still definitely recommend this for a beginner or a pro.
This is a good frame for the price. The only problem I had with the build is that my motors have a long shaft that has to stick down through the bigger center hole in the arms and it was only drilled on the top side, my shafts hit the other side of the tubing and caused the first motor mounted to bind. After noticing the problem I drilled all four arms on through to let the motor shafts pass without touching. This was using the KDA20-26M hacker Style Brushless Outrunner 20-26M motors.
