This quad features folding arms which make it easy to transport and store. The arms are also two different colors for orientation, silver and red, so it's easy to keep your quad flying in the right direction.

This quad frame also supports an optional tilt camera mount which allows for carrying a wide variety of cameras. (Please see related items below for optional camera mount)

We offer a full line of multi-rotor electronics such as multi-rotor control board, ESC, motors and more, so it has never been easier or more affordable to get a quad in the air!

All necessary hardware is included, just add your own electronics.

Would this motor be suitable for this frame?

D2826-101400
 mikec@aloha.net 220 points
yes it's similar to the NTM motor suggested and way cheaper too especially if you are new to multimotor rc crafts.

Thanks, Yeah rather new to multimotors so don't want to spend a heap just yet
 mikec@aloha.net 220 points
check to on ebay. they have frame and motors too while HK's is backorder. better to use less expensive gear. trim your quad so it's stable as possible and fly low and get use to flying. this was when you might have to land it's not so high up. i learned to fly on grass so landing was softer. let me know how you do.
 mikec@aloha.net 220 points
i also would have been fine with the motors you got since you can use 8 inch props. they are much more available than 9 or some 10 inch props. my next quad will have 8 inch props.
phattZz  10 points - 5/10/2013

FYI Lack of motor mounts makes the aluminum arms bend really easy.
Viktor  2 points - 4/25/2013

Does anyone know if and where I can get a 3D cad drawing of this frame? I'm sure hobbyking has it but are those files open to the public? I'm asking since I want to print out a custom gopro mount for my frame and having the exact measurements right off of a drawing would really simplify things. -Thanks in advance
jlemoo  6 points - 4/17/2013

If you mount a camera on this, do those landing skids get in the picture? If so, can they be moved out a little so they're not in the picture?
 pittesn 12 points
I'm using the X550 Glass Fiber Tilt Camera Mount with a GoPro HD Hero2, both the landing skids and motors get in the picture.

how do you know it fits if you haven't used it yet?
 rahulvyas 325 points
APM can be fitted easily, just mount it carefully. APM is quite big but as per this frame it will fit it. Regards.
 phattZz 10 points
FYI i just got mine. APM 2.5 did not fit between the standoffs. it is about 7mm too wide. i had to mount it on the top plate.
Daniel  3 points - 3/27/2013

yes it will fit between then. i'm in process of bying this frame to build my quadcopter using APM 2.5
phattZz  10 points - 3/26/2013

would a Arducopter APM 2.5 board fit between the risers?
 Neash 76 points
mounting holes on the frame for the square controller. apm is a rectangular... can be attached to the double-sided tape.
rafazafar  1 points - 3/25/2013

Hope they restock hundreds next time.
lokidog  31 points - 3/15/2013

This is Bull****!! The only reason we give Hobby King our money for Back Order goods (which they make money/interest off) is because Hobby King state they will restock in 30 days. If their not holding up their end of the bargain why should we?? Why do they take our money before the item is in stock anyway? Shouldn't our money be taken out once the order is processed and been sent?
23t23dS  9 points - 3/11/2013

When will this be restocked? On backorder since January!

Yes friend, I ordered in 08/02/2013 and still waiting. I try ask in support centre when it will arrive, but them dont answer. */
Jonathas  60 points - 2/26/2013

I was needing it. No idea when it will be restocked?
23t23dS  9 points - 2/22/2013

Come on.... taking forever to be restocked!
 Erwin 9 points
This quad frame is available in the NL warehouse , try ordering it from there if you don't live to far away.
 Erwin 9 points
I see you'r location is in Singapore so maybe it would be more wise to wait a while.
 Jonathas 60 points
I am waiting for it too. Already take 20 days as long as i make the order.
Jonathas  60 points - 2/19/2013

Hello, Someone know how long this item already is out of stock? A 800kv motor with a 10x45 is good for this frame? Thnks
 Dengesiz 29 points
The combination seems to be ok, I'm using 9x45, quite satisfying.

I'm using Turnigy 2836/8 1100kv brushless engines
 Neash 76 points
Yes you can. 10x4.5 will give most power but shorter flight times. But i think 8x4.5 is more better choice. Try to use online RC calculator at www . ecalc . ch
Peter  43 points - 2/18/2013

Do 10x4.5 props and a 3S 3300mAh 25C Lipo fit for this frame?
 Neash 76 points
If the motors are powerful, it will fit.

Hi, It says this item will be "restocked in 30 days". But I think its already been 30 days and no sign of the quad till now. Why? :( . I dont think this is discontinued is it? Eobin

Hi buddys I have a Hobbyking X550 Glass Fiber Quadcopter Frame 550mm and 04 NX-4006-530kv Brushless Quadcopter Motor I dont know how to fit the motor on the frame, maybe I miss some adapter and screw but dont know which and where. Somebody help?? Thanks. Manrico
 lokidog 31 points
The X550 needs a 28-XX engine.. Your engine is 40-06 and your mounting holes are 13mm or 27mm apart. You need an adapter from either one of your mounting holes to the quad.

I've filled the data again and used: xCopter Weight: 312gr (without drive)- Weight per Cell: 132gr - Controller Weight: 29gr* - Motor Weight: 86 gr. Didn't enter Flight controller, Rx and Cables. Gives 15.93 flight and 18.95 hover. Neither the less It gives an alert also: * For good maneuverability you need Throttle of less than 80% *.

Hi all, After a WL v929 to start getting the felling, I want to move forward in aerial photo/movie and don't want to waste an intermediate quad. I've ended up with this config. Any mistake in this? Do HobbyKing sell spare screws and bolts for this quadcopter frame and if not does anyone know the size?
 Dengesiz 29 points
I think not because they were missing in mine, they had to order from manufacturer but it even took so long. 3M (3mm) screws and bolts will match perfectly. The lenght of the screws which connect motors should be about 25mm

 PippowNL 151 points
yes they sell spare! look under parts!
djrocktodd  1 points - 12/7/2012

not great as there is limited options to connect motors, they should include mounts like in the glass copter octo
 PippowNL 151 points
Whats the problem? I used one pre drilled hole, and the other hole, i drilled by my self!
 Joseph 4 points
You could make your own mounts if you have the right tools

Do you know when this will be back in stock?

Hallo Zusammen.

This frames works pretty well. I have a Turnigy Aerodrive 1050kv and 9x4.7 props and it flies great and lasts a little over 10 minutes. A lot of the hardware is hex key so make sure you have a good set of small ones. The only thing I didn't like is how you need to glue the spacers to the board and then mount a standard sized controller. Make sure you use some really good glue to hold them down and it's a little difficult to get everything crammed in there well. I would still definitely recommend this for a beginner or a pro.

This is a good frame for the price. The only problem I had with the build is that my motors have a long shaft that has to stick down through the bigger center hole in the arms and it was only drilled on the top side, my shafts hit the other side of the tubing and caused the first motor mounted to bind. After noticing the problem I drilled all four arms on through to let the motor shafts pass without touching. This was using the KDA20-26M hacker Style Brushless Outrunner 20-26M motors.
