I just ordered this and the 120A Trackstar shortcourse ESC to put in a T-maxx I am converting. I am going with the single speed with no reverse conversion in the tranny. Any suggestions as to what gearing I should start with? Don't know exactly how that setup would compare to an E-Maxx..
i can tell you on 4s that thing should scream! and as far as reverse goes thats the beauty of electric your single speed tranny should just turn in the opposite direction when you reverse the motor seeing that there is no need to convert forward drive to reverse because the motor actually spins backwards
I Put This Turnigy 2100KV In My 3906 E-Maxx With The Turnigy 120A Short Course ESC. Geared 19/66. I GPS It At 30MPH Running 4s Lipo. Motor Runs Cool, Im Going To Gear It To 22/64 To Get Some More Top Speed, And This Motor Will Handle It. When I First Drove It I Gave A Little Throttle And The Truck Flipped Over. TONS Of Torque. For The Price And Fast Shipping. Beats The Other's By About $200. I Got Both Motor And ESC With Shipping For $102. Super Fast Shipping. Paid $6 And It Was Here In 2 Days. I Got About 50 Min Of Full Throttle Run Time On Two 2C 5700 Lipo's. That's Great For A Beast Like The E-Maxx. I Would Recommend This To Anyone.
i am running a mamba max pro, typically on 4S. It does have a little bit of start out cogging but as this is a basher the motor is great! I would highly recommend this for ANY basher or anyone just wanting to go faster, run higher S ratings, and/or wants to reduce heat. I did put a castle cooling fan on the motor but thats becuase i had one lying around. The motor did not get hot before i put the fan on.
GREAT BUY!
idk if this would fit easily or not, the vector motor that comes in the xs is a 3655 motor, this motor measures 43mm diameter with heat sinks fins, 63mm long. i would take measurement in your savage xs, and if you feel its gonna work, do it! this motor would move that little guy!
would this motor work ok with 3s and the velineon vxl-3s and a 40c lipo 5000 mah?
thanks guys

the traxxas vxl esc does not like 4 pole motors. i tried a vxl with a castle 4 pole motor, and had a pulsing issue, and tried a different 4 pole, same thing... when you get to a full pull on the throttle, the car will act like it is pulsing (hitting the rev limiter on a real car) i would not recommend this motor with that esc, but one of the turnigy esc's or a castle esc will move this motor properly
I just got this motor and the matching ESC. I hooked it up and the motor doesnt do anything. I went to trouble shoot by putting a different motor I had laying around on to see if that worked. Well that motor works on the ESC so the motor must be DOA. Anyone had any issues like this and maybe I am missing something I can do to get it going? Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
TRY RESOLDERING THE THE MOTORS BULLET CONECTORS I HAVE HAD A DEAD SOLDER JOINT ON A NEW MOTOR BEFORE IT TOOK ME AWHILE B4 I FIGURED THAT OUT BECAUSE THE CONNECTOR FELT SOLIDLY ATTACHED.BUT WASNT CONDUCTING
with this being in a truggy, i would say 4s, because you are moving much larger tires than if you were running a buggy. i run 5s on my ofna road car, but it is lighter in weight. i suppose either battery is fine, just play with gearing and watch the temperatures after each run
Thank you yvonne. I kinda thought that's what I needed to do because I've been exhaustively searching the web to find these. However, I am not any good at soldering nor do I live anywhere near a hobby shop. Do you, or any member, know if these are prefabbed or if anyone is capable of doing this for me and I'll just pay for them? I don't even know if this motor is worth all the trouble but I can't afford to shell out $130 on a Mamba. Thanks
I Put this in an 1/8 buggy. with a 120a ESC and running on 4s. I thought it woulb be way faster the buggy only hits 40mph on a flat long road. My gearing is 13t pinion and 46t spur. they are standard 1/8 scale Mod 1 gears. but why is it not getting alot of power. i also programmed everything how i wanted it with the card and the throttle is set at its max! please help???
Because of the low kv you will have to increase your gearing. I ran a 3500kv motor with 13/54 gearing in my rc prior and I had to switch it to 20/52 with the 1900kv motor. That switch allowed me to hit the same speeds as prevoius but with less heat build-up.
If you own a 4x4 stampede you will need to grind down some of the plastic on the chassis to make it fit. I have this motor in my stampede 4x4 and it can pop wheelies doing 60 mph with no problem. Geared 26/52 it is stupid fast and motor doesnt even get hot, oh on 4S. If you have a 2wd stampede I dont know what you would need to do to make it fit, it is a 42mm can.

just got mine in today.. im use to having the mamba monster and trackstar motor.. and since the price was so low and seemed like a decent motor i figured y not and bought it ....my thought....well its smaller then the turnigy trackstar and a mamba monster... looks good..feels good...but mine died after the 1st run on 4s emaxx...so i wouldnt buy it again thats for sure

I'm using this motor in a converted 8ight-E with the Turnigy 160A ESC and love it. No heat issues after draining a 5000mah 40c 4s. Plenty of speed and no real complaints other than the motor wires are really stiff like they are made out of solid rod instead of copper wire but it works just fine. I ordered a second motor and ESC for another project. I have/would recommend this motor to a friend.

Great motor for it's price. Only a handful of runs so far, but really pushing it in my TRX Summit. I installed it with a Hobbywing 120A SC8 on 4s to briefly test it out and due to it's smooth operation, cool temps and great torque and speed I've decieded to leave it in for now. I can say this motor is a value at this price! Don't hesitate to try this in a MT or 1/8 scale ride! If it can push the Summit around easily it will have no prob. running anything else.
