Like others have said, out of the box it looks great. Tail heavy for me as well. It has fantastic taxi characteristics and takes off from a smooth surface very scale. I wanted to fly it indoors and found that our venue is a little too small (high school gym full basketball court). It does require a little too much speed to stay in the air. The PZ T-28 is much better for this. Flying outside works much better with mild wind (less than 5mph). I find that the wire for the ailerons is a little flimsy and doesn't give deflection with authority. Other than that, the plane is a great value for the price.

Where can you purchase additional batteries for this plane? They do not come up on a search of the Hobby City site. Thanks.
 dejongster 44 points
Just saw the answer to my question in a previous response. It is available through Hobby King, just not through the US warehouse.
 hank74 68 points

How do you charge this kind of battery? this is the first time i saw a stick battery.
 Caley 11 points
Christopher, The Micro P-47 transmitter that comes with the RTF version has a chargin port in the bck. I kind of like this setup, as you don't have to purchase a seperate charger.

I got the eflite celectra, charges 4 sticks at once and can either use d cell batteries or ac power.

Chris, Thanks a lot. I'm surprised HK doesn't list compatible accessories below the main product like so many other model dealers do.
Ricky  1 points - 12/16/2012

Is this 2mode or 1 mode
 kiel 7 points
This plane come in an RTF package with a dual mode remote. Flip over the antenna and remote and press a button and you have mode 1 or 2.

i did not get this plane so i talked to ricky and he helped me out on what i need to do to get my plane hobbyking will help you out
Dooper  3 points - 11/8/2012

Does anyone else have range issues with the radio? Mine seems to be 50-75 feet. Batteries are fine.
 kiel 7 points
I have mine out 200-300 feet with no issue. Really surprised of the range.
Doug  20 points - 8/31/2012

How do you get a "FREE" one? I noticed a couple of reviewers said they got their airplane free.
 n8ander 11 points
On occasion HK does these 24hr promotions or deals where they will offer a plane such as this one free if you place a $100 order.

i was wondering witch 9 eagles war bird would be a good beginner plane or any other war birds on this website?
 IndiaHobby 43 points
This would NOT be a good beginner plane. This has low wings and is built for intermidiate flyers. On the positive side, It is super light weight (less than1 ounce) and as such, if you crash there is not much damage. I would recomend that you get a high wing plane like the HobbyKing Micro J3 Cub or a pusher prop style (prop behind wings) plane Sky 500 Ultra Micro Glider. You need a slow flying plane so that you have more reaction time.

Is this ready to fly or needs assembly or more purchased parts?
 CHAMP-RC 1051 points
This model is great! completely ready to fly and no more parts needed (Hopefully not even in the future)

i got this ordered but didn't realize that i ordered the mode 1. i know how to change it but my problem is would the feel of the remote be the same? because i know that the throttle on a regular mode (2) left don't have the spring back motion, and the right is spring. any ideas?
 matiac 7 points
At mode 2, your transmitter will be what you're accustomed to, i.e., throttle left, controls right, just have to flip the antenna.
Jennifer  2 points - 6/19/2012

No. Throttle doesn't have a return spring on any radio I don't believe. Mode 1 radio would take some getting used to for me

good for you dude.. i am having this for my birthday i hope i wont be disappointed
 drew154 1 points
compared to parkzone micros this plane was sluggish and servos are cheap
 SHOmechanic 5 points
I think this plane is pretty manueverable. Fly it in the advanced setting, and in light winds! I don't see how someone couldn't have fun with this airplane, I have some videos flying it in about 10mph winds, you can slow it way down with the headwind - but its a rocket with that kind of tailwind....
 Christopher 1 points
how do you change it to the advanced setting? i would like to get more aileron angle because right now it only moves like at 1mm lol.

 kellingnick 9 points

3-4 you can custom make retracts though
 micro flyer 38 points
I ordered the 1.6mm micro retracts I'm gona try to fit them but I don't know if the plane has 5 channels might have to replace everything with orange parts (1.7gram digital servos, 2gram reciever). I also was able to bind it to my solo pro 100 6ch Tx awesome

Is the landing gear able to take off ground, and how would you rate this plane.
 joshua 15 points
i have hade no problems with ground take of even when it is ***p assfault land great to,i love these planes and you can crash them and still fly
 matiac 7 points
Yes, and I'd rate this plane EXTREMELY bitchin'! Ton of fun to fly, every time I take mine out I go through all 6 LiPos and wish I had six more. Let the motor cool off between batteries, or you'll cook the brushes. Mine's been replaced with a Blade Heli motor with the polarity reversed, and it's even FASTER now!! Great little plane!!

I found the P-47 to be a tail heavy after a few unsuccessful flights. After adding a 3/4 inch washer to the nose it flew great and handled a strong breeze with no trouble. The battery box came lose after 12 flights but was ease to repair by opening the bottom of the plane and re-gluing. The plane is sensitive in pitch. Moving push rod to the third hole out solved that problem. The plane is very durable and easy to repair. I have only hand launched so far, but have taxied in the house so I believe it will take off fine from the ground as long as it is a smooth surface. It is also worth while to put some reinforced tape on the bottom of the wing. All in all in am very please with the value of this little plane and am looking forward to getting other planes from this line.

I also received a free P-47. Thank You HK. As another reviewer stated, it was a bit tail heavy, but that was easily fixed with a bit of nose weight. The plane has a full airfoil wing which flies better than the under cambered wing on other micros. It also has a nice pop off prop protector.

Excellent out of the box flier!! Tail heavy as others stated but easily fixed. I would recommend this model once you have basic sim/trainer experience but with that said, my girlfriend flew a coulple two minute flights with only 30 minutes on fms. Easy to fly and very crash forgiving. Extremely happy with the purchase and will be purchasing the Yak soon.
