Durafly™ Zephyr V-70 High Performance 70mm EDF V-Tail Glider 1533mm (PNF)

Durafly™ Zephyr V-70 High Performance 70mm EDF V-Tail Glider 1533mm (PNF)
Durafly™ Zephyr V-70 High Performance 70mm EDF V-Tail Glider 1533mm (PNF)

The amazing Durafly® ™ Zephyr V-70 is one of the most eagerly anticipated models of the year and with good reason, the V-70 is a triumph of design and engineering, combining stunning good looks with toughness, practicality and heart pumping performance!

The Zephyr is packed with truly innovative features, the first being the highly compressed EPO foam, as well as being tough, the foam has a super smooth texture, adding to it's aerodynamic performance. The wings are carbon reinforced with pre-tensioned glassfiber strips on both sides of the wing to prevent twisting during high-G maneuvers, likewise the fuselage uses a square CF rod down it's length, plus external glassfiber rods. The V-Tail is also CF reinforced and for extra stiffness is secured to the molded rear skid assembly. The large bi-lateral air intakes have been designed to maximise fan performance while minimising drag, which combined with the ultra-thin airfoil and clean, low drag airframe offer jaw dropping performance both on and off the throttle!

The quality of the V-70 is second to none, metal gear servos are included as is a powerful 70mm EDF unit and programmable ESC. Assembly is fast and the Zephyr also features a 2pc removable wing for practicality. Durafly® ™ engineers have overcome the theoretical drawbacks of an EDF glider by combining the efficiency of the V-70 airframe & power train with the ability to carry a large lipoly to offer you great flight times on top of amazing performance!

One of the first things to strike you when flying the V-70 is how beautifully balanced it is, the pilot feels immediately at home and locked in, even at high speed. The aerobatic ability of the Zephyr is as mind warping as the speed, combine this with the impressive off throttle performance and you have an amazingly wide flight envelope but open that throttle and you are greeted with a turbine like sound like no other EDF Jet, it's so addictive! Jaw dropping Looks, high speed performance, amazing aerobatic ability, quality, durability, practicality and innovation.....the Durafly® ™ Zephyr V-70.....the ultimate foamy!

Hello , with what kind of Ca may i use for glue it? foam safe or normal? perhaps epoxy? Thanks a lot
 meadowhay 829 points
Hi Eugenio. You can use normal or foam safe on EPO, but foam safe is better to work with

Guys is the recommended battry able to fit into tje canopy? Or is there any batt that u guys recommend ? Please help me if u guys know thanks
 DylanT 5084 points
Hi Jaocb, the 3000mAH packs fit fine but i would personally go with a Zippy compact battery instead of the Turnigy blues as they are a tad smaller search for product ID Z30003S-40

Which receiver would be best to use for this plane? Spektrum AR636 6-Channel AS3X Sport Receiver or Spektrum AR6335 6 Channel AS3X Nanolite Receiver?
 Thomas 24 points
The first one would be better, because of the servo plug.

There's a lot of round about discussion about batteries for this plane. Owners and frequent flyers, what's the best battery for this plane.
 Noam 6 points
There is no a lot of a spec for battery I think you need a small size battery with 30c and up
 George 3 points
Wow, old thread, bought the battery and crashed the plane :-(

4 thumbs up!
My V70 arrived last week nicely packed. Assembly was simply glue the tail in a set her up. The battery space is not ideal for the recommended battery size. I did fit a 400mah battery at first which will fit with cables to the rear, but this leave very little room for esc and rx, unless your rx is just a card enclosed in heat shrink. So I ended up doing a 3min maiden using a 2200mah 3s that ive got lots of for my heli's. I also added some 100g of lead to match the recommended battery weight of 300g. After 3min it still came down with 3.88volts in the tank. Hand launch was done by a helper and she glided away nicely. It was thrilling to fly with no bad habits. Sounds and looks fantastic during a high speed pass, and glides nicely into the wind at zero throttle. I came in a little quick on the landing, but my vertical speed and angle was good, and the bottom mount wings caught on the 6" grass pulling out the forward wing mount. That kind of landing would not have damaged my other aircraft. I think the forward wing mount could be improved a little. Minor repairs and she should be airborne tomorrow again. Overall though I'm very impressed with the aircraft and would recommend the V70 to intermediate pilots and beyond. For that matter if your an EDF pilot and are looking for something big and fast for under $150 then the V70 wont disappoint. Great aircraft :)

3 thumbs up!
The bird came in this morning ,she is looking fables ,top grade finish .ONLY! the battery compartment is very very small the advertising to fit a 4000mha battery ? Forget it the guy ho is saying that need's glass's ,2650 mha 3cell or 2200mha 4cell is the max .
The flying ,
WHAAW she is fast and nervous ( have to put in Dual rate ),if you ease of the gas she calms down and is nice to fly ,after two flights my first impression is ,nice airplane she is gliding fast ,no tension at slow speed for a wing outbreak she just lowers the nose and picking up speed again .It's great fun to fly the bird ,she is very acrobatic ,she can be, she is a wild beast and a pussy if you take the speed out , no bad habit's ( until now ! )

I don't normally bother with reviews, but the Zephyr is such a fantastic bird that I just had to do one. I bought the ARF version as I already had everything needed to complete it. 2 Hitec HS55s in the tail and HS82s for the ailerons. This thing goes like a rocket!! It is rock solid in flight and does incredible 4 point rolls. The sound is so turbine like that a jet jockey actually asked if it was a turbine! It does land a little fast and will snap to the left if stalled. I wore out the plastic skid, so I made up a landing wheel and added tip protectors to the wings. I also glued a small strip of aluminum to the tail skid. The only negative would be if you don't like attention at the field 'cause you're gonna get plenty of it. I haven't grinned so much in years.

I have now done a couple of flights. And as many other here writes, the wing joint/fastning is not good. I have not been able to land mine without one wing popping out of the joint. On one wing it has broken. Speed is good. Meassured mine to 106kph with 3S3300 Nanotech. Wery thight space in nose.
