The PC-9 is a Turboprop military training aircraft that is used by several counties around the world, including Australia. Although built by Pilatus in Switzerland, the PC-9 is actually marketed by BAE Systems, armed versions are also in service with several countries, to date, over 250 have been built.

The H-King PC-9 is a great looking and flying easy build plug and fly model with great performance. The one piece wing is removable for easy transport and the fixed undercarriage can be removed for those wanting to bellyland, for those using the supplied under-carriage, the nosewheel is steerable to keep your PC-9 tracking true. All servos, the motor and ESC are pre-installed and the model features a novel swing up canopy for easy battery access. The model comes with a spare prop & spinner as well as the tools needed to complete the build.

The PC-9 is a great sport fly scale model that is capable of all the basic aerobatic maneuvers, it is made from super tough EPO foam so it can stands some knocks, it is nicely priced and cheap to get into the air, practical and good looking, this is a great scale parkflyer!

Does anybody know how the motor is attached? Can it be taken out without cutting the nose?
Drew2Blue  3 points - 1/1/2013

Does this model feature a working rudder in addition to that steering nosewheel? That would be a big plus to know before a purchase. Steerable nosewheel means nothing special to many who handlaunch and bellyland. Please HK could you bother to inform us on the working control surfaces first.

Yes it does have a working rudder. Just flew mine today. It does fly good, not that fast, but good. A little windy today. had a slight hit on the the motor, now it has a a little tick to it. still flyable.

can I buy separate the spinner and prop kit for this plane? anyone have an idea of the prop size? I want to use it on my 60" Pilatus PC-6. It's probably not enough prop for my application, but it looks great.
 jimsach 31 points
This plane is just over 33" w/s and 19 oz. weight. Its prop and spinner would be way too small for a 60" plane.

How and where can I get parts for this plane?
 Drew2Blue 3 points
Other than order two airframes from HK? My rule of thumb is don't buy anything R/C that you can't get spares for because wonderful airplanes are simply overpriced lawn wreckage decor without spares. To people who own this product who makes it and have you found a supply of spares?? Many thanks.

Flew this very nice plane for the first time this week. Assembly and set up are very simple for anyone with a little experience in RC flying. While not a beginner's project, the plane goes together without any difficulty at all. The tricycle landing gear makes take offs and landings very straight forward. First flight was very routine and required only a notch or two of down trim but otherwise this plane flew straight and true right from the beginning. The overall quality of the plane is very good. Visually, this plane is wonderful....a nice departure from the high wing trainers and WWII foam scale planes that are so common. Plenty of power from the stock motor and prop make this plane a great looking and and even better flying model. Thanks HobbyKing....I'm very pleased with my purchase.

A very pretty A/C to look at however it does lack a lot of power. I tested it out on a windy day and it really struggled. I dont recommend this a/c to amateurs as the power just isnt there to recover from any mistakes.

If you have purchased this and modified it i am very interested to hear what you have done.

indeed the plane has a somewhat not very powerful motor. unfortunbately my experiences with roll on grass was senseless, also when i was changing wheels to 70mm, not enough power to strart from grass.
but i like to fly also in hinterlands without any runaways, so i like to handlaunch my planes. experience with launching the stock version doesn`t works well, so i changed with grat success as follows;

-take a prop-saver with 3,17mm inside dia, matsches the prop-shaft very well.
- change the 3-blade prop to an 2-blade (parkzone PKZ1008, size 8.25x5.5 from the j3 brushless).

okey, not so scale, but if you are flying you don`t see the prop ;-).

this works and flys very well, handlaunch easy as a pkz t28 or p51 (but you have to give a firm toss with nose slightly upwards and full throttle).

sincerly, stefan, switzerland
