Smoking Turnigy Plush - 25A OK, I just attached my Turnigy 25A speed controller to my Turnigy 3s 11.1V, 2200may battery, Spectrum 4Channel receiver and Turnigy motor and it got hot and started to smoke a bit....!! Uhmmm, first time i put it together and I am worried. Did I do something wrong?

is it normal for this ESC to get hot (52C / 126F)even with no motor running (just receiver servos)? I noticed and immediately took a measurement of the current (Amps)but it is only pulling 10mA from the battery which is normal for receiver servos only. I know this ECS has a linear BEC instead of Switch but never thought it could get this hot
 EricBR 396 points
thats normal. linear becs does get warm. switching becs doesnt produce any heat.
 larryoakley 41 points
that is why I just ordered a YEP 30A, for me the cooler the ESC the better, unfortunately the Plush series only have Switch BECs on the models of 40A and up, Linear BECs are everything but efficient.... I should read the specs of this Plush 25 before, my mistake was to think all the Plush serie models come switch BECs

Hi, could anyone tell me out of the three RED wires, labeled as, A, B and C which is is , - and signal? I don't want to burn it. it is a shame there is no instruction either on the website or the sheet that comes with it.
 Cameron 40 points
What do you mean by signal. The three larger red wires are you output to a brush less DC motor, just connect these three to three on the motor, to change rotational direction of this motor swap any two of these wires. The black and red wires on the other side is DC power in from battery. The servo ribbon cable is white = signal (PWM) red = 5v out if there is a bec in the esc and black = ground.
 anikeev 1274 points
A B and C goes to brushless motor. On the other side there's two thick wires (red is positive, black is negative) that goes to battery and servo lead (3 thin wires where white is signal, red is 5V, black is ground).

Hi guys, short question, How are ESC`s generally delivered, are there already female plugs installed for the motor, or do I have to install them myself and if yes, how?
 Cameron 40 points
Depends on the esc, multistar has the bullet connectors installed. but these turnigy plush don't. You will need to solder and heat shrink 3.5mm bullet connectors on youself. Or solder the motor wires directly to the esc, but if this is your first model I would go with the bullet connectors.

27 thumbs up!
I hooked my 25A Plush up to a 3s 2200mAh Zippy & Turnigy C2830 brushless outrunner and the ESC doesn't beep, doesn't start the motor, nothing. I can move the servos that are connected to the Rx, but I can't get any throttle response or the beeping that the manual references. Any thoughts on how to get my motor going, or why the ESC isn't beeping?

20 thumbs up!
The newer version includes another plug which will connect to the charge port of your Lipo for pack monitoring (low voltage protection). This is not shown in the photo. It is not mandatory to connect this. Unfortunately I cannot use these in my GWS 38 due to the size and extra . I will reserve this pair for other projects or replacement in existing planes. The photo should be updated, as the extra wiring causes more space limitations and should not be cut off.

I bought 2 of these to put into 2 HK450 Heli's with KD KA450H motors and Zippy 3s 2200 battery. One smoked on the first flight. The other has been performing perfectly. It was very easy to program with the programming card that Hobby City also sells. I think I just got one that was a dud.

This esc is really good. Compared to other china-made esc is really much better. Lots of very useful programmable options. Better throttle curve etc.

On the other hand it has a little problematic startup with my motor POT 200W. I tried every possible setting, but even with the one with best results i crashed due to the fact that motor went out of synchronism with esc. Czech made esc i used before were always ok.
