4A UBEC w/ Low Voltage horn

4A UBEC w/ Low Voltage horn

This isnt a normal UBEC.
It can handle 4amp draw and comes with a low voltage warning buzzer. Should your pack drop to below 3V per cell the buzzer will sound, telling you its time to land your plane before you kill your expensive Lipo pack.

The UBEC comes with an extended section of PCB, you can use this to help mount the UBEC or you can simply cut it off.

Although this is a UBEC and can handle up to 23v, its warning system is only designed for 2cell. Some would consider using a UBEC for 2cell as overkill, however it ensures a stable current, less heat and a higher amperage can be used.

This UBEC can be used with up to 23v input. If you use a 2 cell pack only, it will also warn you if your cells drop to 3v per cell.

What is the size in mm's of this ubec? Thnx in advance!
 LarsenHK 25 points
Lenght=45mm after cutting the useless part of plate. Can be reduced to 31mm by replacing the jumper by a bridge. width=31mm Height=11mm Weight=12g (plate cut)
 Helilover 100 points
it is 45 mm in length

universal battery eliminator Circuit it converts a higher voltage source to a lower consistent voltage. Making it safer to run servos and other devices at a lower voltages.
 justforfun 84 points
ultimate battery eliminator circuit. basically takes strain of your esc, so this unit provides power to your radio gear, rather than your esc providing power to motor, and radio gear. not essential, think of it as insurance. on other hand, its anohter component that could fail.
 AdrenaCo 135 points
UBEC stands for Ultimate Battery Eliminator Circuit. This device converts a higher voltage source to a lower voltage. This means you can use a higher voltage battery to safely power your receiver. In addition this device comes with a warning sound should the voltage of the power source fall below a certain value so you know you should stop.

BEC stands for Battery Elimination Circuit. UBEC = Ultimate Battery Eliminated Circuit. The UBEC has an better power supply and tolerate higher voltage.

Well BEC stands fpr Bettery Elemination Circuit. uBEC? Hm, Union of Banana Exporting Countries (that's what Google says, but I suspect there is another definition somewhere...) Definition from another uBEC: "The all new Turnigy 15 is an advanced switching DC-DC regulator which will supply a constant 8A or more with short bursts of up to 15amps! The Turnigy UBEC plugs into a 2 or 3 Cell Lipoly pack and supplies a constant 5 or 6v to your receiver. Voltage status indicator lights on the pack show

UBEC stands for Ultimate Battery Eliminator Circuit. This device converts a higher voltage source to a lower consistent voltage. Making it safer to run servos and other devices at a lower voltages. Compared to older BEC's that were linear and not that efficient. A UBEC uses switch-mode technology which is more efficient.

Universal Battery Elimination Circuit, it is used to power your RX with either your main battery or a seperate battery. You would use it in 3 cases, if you don't have a speed controler (no motor), your esc doesn't have suffient coverage for your servos, or if you are using it to power your RX seperately as an added safety measure to prevent loss of control when loosing a main batter...

Hope that helps

universal battery eliminitaion circuit and its used to power your reciever and servos that are conected to the reciever, in small models usualy you use the esc bec (esc and bec in the same component) but if you have a big model, plane or heli you should have a separated bec to enshure the reciever and servos have there own power, this ubec comes with a horn that makes a sound if the batery is low or if you lose your model you can find it by listening ....
 Ringburn 7 points
Ultimate battery eliminator circuit. This allows you to run your radio gear from your main battery pack instead of requiring separate power. UBECs are great when you don't want to rely on a speedcontroller's BEC as well. Your speedy can fail and you will still have control.
 eurotech 31 points
Universal battery eliminator circuit. It is used to convert battery voltage down to a safe voltage for receivers etc where the high voltage direct from the flight battery would damage the receiver. Some Ubec,s can also supply higher current (amps) output..depends on type chosen. They tend to be used in larger models that have higher power requirements such as large numbers of servo,s or digital servo,s which are power hungry.
 Mike Vos 20 points
BEC = Battery Eliminator Circuit UBEC was a specific branded model of BEC "ultimate" a standard BEC can be used with up to about 3 cel lipo if the speed controller does not have a Battery circuit. you need an sbec (switching) for more than 3 cel lipo to avoid overheating.
 Norberto 10 points
Ubec is a battery eliminator cirquit. It is used to power electric devices such as receivers, servos ecc... directly from the main battery without the need of an external battery.

Can I plug the 50A hobbyking ESC to this, and it will give my servos power without burning the servos and the reciever.
 Sawdust 1605 points
Of course you can. It could be any speed controler of any amperage. As for your servos they should be fine if you set this to output the apropriate voltage for whichever ones you're using with the jumper.

what will this work on?
 stuman1995 20 points
it will power any thing not over the allowed voltagae
 jbc1234567 500 points
Yeah I think you should try it on your lawnmower *)

is this ubec linar?
 Alan 26 points
If is doesn't say SBEC, then it most likely is a linear regulator. SBEC is the switching regulator.

I read in reviews that jamper in the left side it has 6,22V and in the right side it has 5,27V, this correct one?

I need the instructions for the 4A UBECw/low voltage alarm.

THANKS
 George E 19 points
LOL... you and me too. No directions I do understand when using a ubec. You cut or unplug the red wire from the speed controller that pugs into the reciever (the plug that has 3 wires) My question is about the jumper... how do you know if its set for 5 volt or 6 volt don't want to toast anything. =( guess I might have to get some tools out and do surgry i know some are marked on the board, but the heat srink is not clear..its yellow.
 davidpc2 225 points
Hi George E, maybe sounds stupid but can try a voltmeter, maybe it works.

What is the use of the ckt board that everyone cuts out and how is it done??
 waynemia 470 points
The additional board makes it easier to mount the regulator. You can cut if off if not needed.

Just bought one of these. When I plug it into 3 cell lipo the alarm just goes off and it doen't work. Can anyone advise me what I am doing wrong
 waynemia 470 points
The alarm only sounds for voltage drop below 6Vdc. The alarm was designed for 2S LiPo.
 Nigel 32 points
I use a 2S fully charged but there was obviousely a defect. I ripped the alarm off and it works fine now.

soldered this ubec to a hobbycity simple esc battery leads, red to red black to black ., cut the red wire on the esc , connected the ubec to the aux channel on my reciever and fired it up. didnt program the esc but it worked nicely.happy so far.

19 thumbs up!
great value for a 4A BEC. However output is 5.2v instead of the rated 5v, almost KILLED my expensive Tandem Mixer board that requires strictly 4.9-5.1v!! Be warned if u are using digital tail servo that operates at 5v. Other than this, the BEC works fine for 3D Heli.

Good product, but pay attention to the real voltage.
With the jumper in the right = 5,27 V, with the jumper in the left = 6,22 V.

9 thumbs up!
Just received this 4A UBEC and installed it for a test.
Moving all 5 Servos of my plane draws paeks of 5,2 Amps. After about 1 Minute everything is fine and the unit heated up to 47 deg C. That makes my positive for a flight test!
I also tested the low voltage horn which worked and in my opinion is loud enough to hear inflight.
So far: excellent value for money!

6 thumbs up!
I have tryied with a Multiplex Cularis (4 micro and 2 small servo) and is excellent. Note that if you use ESC with BEC you have to remove the red cable from your ESC. Same when you use more than 3 cells. Cut/remove ESC BEC.
