There is plenty of rad in the RadJet-420! This brilliant Micro model has no trouble earning the RadJet moniker, with it's combination of ultra-light weight, high power brushless motor, digital servo's and slippery airframe, the Radjet 420 is just so much fun to fly!
The Radjet 420 has been tested and flown to within an inch of its life and it performed flawlessly, a super stable micro that can be ready to fly in just minutes, the Radjet has been constructed from EPS foam for superior flight performance, it's ultra-light flying weight makes the Micro Rad easy to hand-launch and resistant to all but the worst dumb thumb moments. Many models of this size are often limited by linear servos or cheap components, but not the Micro Rad! featuring pre-installed, fully proportional HK-5320 Digital servos, a Turnigy ESC and a specially wound 3000kvbrushless motor, the Radjet 420 is a performer. The build quality is just fantastic, fully hinged ailerons are another example of why the Radjet 420 stands out from the crowd. This is a fast model to put together, the motor and ESC are pre-installed, leaving you to glue on the vertical stabilzers with the included glue, then go and fly!
Performance is of course what this model is all about and the Radjet 420 is no slouch! Power is delivered courtesy of the powerful Turnigy Brushless motor running on 2s, for reliability a Turnigy ESC is pre-fitted and the servo/ESC connectors are all compatible with the 4 Channel Orange Micro RX (R415). This model might be cheap to put in the air, but make no mistake, this is one seriously capable model, just make sure you take a handful of Lipoly batteries with you when you go and fly, screaming the Micro Radjet around your local park is addictive!
Features: Powerful Brushless Outrunner Motor Specifically Wound for the Radjet 420 Hinged Control Surfaces for Reliability and Precision Perfectly Matched, specially designed Prop Magnetic Canopy Hatch All Servos, ESC & Motor Pre-Installed Bright Color Scheme, Perfect for Orientation Decals Pre-Applied Control Horns on Upper Wing for Durability Glue Included Can be Assembled in Minutes Wide Flight Envelope, Aerobatic & Fast with Excellent Slow Speed Handling

Harald, be carrefull i don t stay full open and it s cold here in the alps. The radjet flyes a very diffé*rent way on 2s or 3s actually I prefer it on 2s.
You Will enjoy anyway. Great little plane. Big fun.
hi guys, im having trouble sttting up my aileron controls with my transmitter, the left/right are reversed, what can i do to fix this? reversing settings on my transmitter didnt help. Thanks
Try the APO5-3000KV, PRODUCT ID: HK-AP05-3000 . You can also try the NTM Prop Drive 13-12 2400KV (PRODUCT ID: NTM1312-2400) or NTM 13-12 2600KV (PRODUCT ID: NTM1312-2600) I am using the NTM and it work fine.
Thank you for your answer, here are the parts : Replacement Vertical Stabilizer Replacement Main Wing Set Replacement Canopy Replacement Fuselage w/ Motor Mount
Yes, for full kit version you need:
Radjet 420 - Replacement Main Wing Set
Radjet 420 - Replacement Canopy
Radjet 420 - Replacement Vertical Stabilizer
Radjet 420 - Replacement Fuselage w/ Motor M
and if needed
Radjet 420 - Replacement Propeller Adapter
Now you can use your own electronics and build this plane :)
why is the larger version with a $pektrum comp. rx cheaper than the smaller one that you have to suypply your own rx. does'nt that make it half as big for twice the price?
not too many options for this type of plane in this size range. it is only a duopoly at best but since the nearest competitor has rudders (f27q 180), this is a unique plane so they can charge a premium price. the larger radjet 800 has many competitors in that size so the price has to be equally competitive.
The mini stryker (180) is more capable because of rudder control but no where near as fast as the Radjet 480. In the air both penetrate the wind surprisingly well given their size. I like both for different reasons now that I have solved all my connector compatibility problems,
I need a little help with this project. I bought the recommended equipment including the tiny little 2s batteries. They have only a balancing port so I assume this is how they are to be balanced and charged. Specifically WHAT BRAND of lipo balancing charger will charge a 2s lipo through its balancing port- with a mini MOLEX connector or more simply how do you guys balance charge them? Am I in for a soldering party and does anyone else out there thing this might be something HK might want to address and provide a charger recommendation for?
Ok i found my own answer in the back of my local hobby shop where I noticed a horizon hobby celectra charging similar batteries for a skyker 180- the radjet's competition, the charger plug is a perfect fit no soldering no nonsense just plug it in. It would be nice if HK offered such a charger at the time of checkout.
But wait there is more. the battery connector is JST, the servos mini molex and all the batteries that fit are some kind of standard molex type connector that is not really a molex since none of my old molex connectors work. this means at least 3 different connectors in one plane. Sorry but this is beyond stupid. I bought a mini stryker. I may or may not get around to soldering all the connectors I need for the radjet 420... if I can ever find them.
OK the final chapter for anyone else who is as pissed at these people as I am. Go to 'battery chargers' look under "balance leads" and buy the 2S battery extensions. Cut off the male and and use the female end. Cut off the center pin and just use the black and red leads from the ESC, soldering them onto the equivalent leads from your modified 2S female balancing end. Now you can use pretty much any 2S battery including Eflite and Turnigy. I ranked the 420 a one star. this whole exercise in "find the hiding part and figure out what it is and where to get it" was a complete waste of time and life. I don't care if the radjet flies rings around anything else I own ( I am not saying it does- I don't know yet after 3 months of wasting time trying to find the right connectors) nothing was worth this much BS. BTW the mini stryker is awesome and takes 2 minutes to get airworthy. It may cost 2x as much but it comes with charger rx motor serovs and a perfect set up guide. Again 2 minutes versus 3 months. HK you just lost a VERY good customer. This could all have been avoided easily.
Thanks Linus, and perhaps I should have and would have if 1)I had known about it in advance- again HK does this a lot forces the user to dig through the site looking for something which should be part of the product combo listing 2) I had known in advance that the plane had a JST connector- don't see where that is mentioned and why would someone have to buy a product first and then find out what is needed and go back and order it after HK got around to filling their back order for the 420 in the first place and 3) the battery you mentioned was available at the time I ordered. The micro orange rx's with the mini molex connectors were not out yet at that time either. 4)The battery you mentioned is not available and cannot be back ordered. I'd be waiting to fly the plane that much longer- as I mentioned in my review and the discussion I have waited months trying to find the right connector 5)I have a mini stryker which uses a 200mah 2S lipo I wanted to be able to use those batteries as well as the turnigy. Your answer was the best though since it does solve the basic problem. Why couldn't HK bother to do this for their customers? Thanks Dave
Wow... Guess I must just be lucky.. I had no problems. Just looked at the photos and the section on Required items under the description, then ordered everything. Sorry you had such a bad experience 'cos I think HK do a really good job. I have made 82 orders so far and no issues to speak of. I guess everyone has different experiences and expectations in this great hobby. Cheers, good luck.
Thanks Linus, glad you've had good luck. I did mispeak above, the 2s charge plug does not actually fit the battery without modification. The plug on the mini stryker battery is proprietary to that product- another example of someone making a few extra bucks by forcing you to buy their charger. I don't think most of the things you described were actually available in the early Spring when I got the radjet. I know the micro orange receiver was not there until a month or so later. AS far as the list here it is directly from the page: Requires:
Your Own 4 Channel TX/RX with elevon mixing (compatible RX with 1.25mm Molex 3 Pin Connectors)
180mAh 2s Lipoly Battery. Not sure I see anything about the battery connectors which are JST not molex or mini molex etc on this. But hey its in the air now...
david....2s batts this size AS A STANDARD have mini jst for the main leads and a jst xh balance plug. although they never mentioned what type of batt connector is needed, u have to assume it is a standard size if nothing else is mentioned (most things in life is this way...do u ask if the salesman if that new tv requires 110 or 220v outlet). the mini jst connector is clearly visible on the last pic. eflite/horizon uses their own non-standard molex connector for their small 2s setups.
Thanks S I actually did find all that out... after the fact as you mentioned. I eventually soldered things up to fit a horizon 2S since I have a bunch of their stuff- and you are right this is like plumbing- everyone gouges for their own particular "proprietary" hardware to try create enough hassle factor that the average person will overpay for the part/battery etc Witness the EC3/5 deal. I suppose in the case of HK they may very well be deciding based on in International precedents not USA ones. Linus mentioned all the pre-existing batteries and parts. The problem is i got one of the first mini radjets and none of this was in stock of available or I would have saved myself the hassle. I backordered the JST's and they just came in months after the fact and now that I don't need them. Had I waited it would have been next season to fly this plane because the season here is basically over. My dreams of standard battery plugs charging jacks etc are of course ridiculous since $ is the motive. Still a man can hope. Thanks for your input/advice and time. Dave
this sounds like a bunch of sniveling to me just go to the local hobby shop get the connectors and solder them on and be done with it..... sniveling and all its this kinda b s that give the hobby a bad name if you took months to do what the rest of us do every day its on you sweethart so live n learn but most of all quit your fricken sniveling
The esc should be fine. I have a flying wing that weighs 300g and on 3s that runs on a 12a esc. This radjet is 75g so I think a 6a power system should be fine. It looks like the motor gets plenty of cooling and if it dies it will be just as easy to put another motor on it as replace the esc.
No it's to weak to handle 3S.
I use the MTN 2600kv motor has more power 40W.
And I use a bigger ESC 10A.
The little radjet weight after mod 79 gram.
I use the prop adapter from the radjet 420. My little radjet 420 flies super fast. It's now a turbo Radjet!! 3S 3.75x3 prop Radjet flies over 50mph!!! Continues Throttle 100% the motor stay cool. Everyone must upgrade his little radjet with this little motor
The Stryker UM costs twice as much, but it has rudders, an Rx, a battery and a charger. On the other hand, the Stryker is fairly delicate. You don't want to hit the ground with it.
SOMEBODY CREDIT CID156......... HE'S GOT MY VOTE FOR SURE BUT BETTER YET HOW ABOUT A ARF VERSION IN THE USA WAREHOUSE AND FOR BOTH THE LARGE AND SMALL RADJETS... IF YOU DO ILL BUY BOTH FROM A USA SUPPLY SO THE SHIPPING IS'NT SUCH A DEAL KILLER LIKE IT IS FROM CHINA
Hi I'm thinking of buying one of these small radjets but they come with the molex connectors am I right in thinking I can just clip em off and solder on normal sevo plugs?
regards Wayne
GO AHEAD i'd also put a lot larger motor, bat and ele. system and makeit like my parkjet mk II and slingshot start it with a bungee so it takes off at 80 mph..... you can always bounce it off a fat lady to land it with out to much harm to the jet ha ha ha
Combining the function of ailerons and elevators into a single set of control surfaces, elevons are found on Delta wing style RC aircraft. On this type of aircraft the wings are enlarged and extend to the back of the plane. There is no separate horizontal stabilizer where you would find the elevators on conventional straight-wing aircraft.
Louis I concur. It is normally channel 1 and 2. It can be just a switch on you Transmitter (like V-tail) or you can program it in (on Turnigy 9XV2 or HK 6ch). If you transmitter does not have it then you can buy a V-tail switch, which goes in the plane. I hope this helps.
oh snap!!
yes snappy, i agree that the GUYS u have mentioned r credit scammers. sometimes they only do the generic copy and paste bs and simply hand feed stuff that the poster wants to hear. they r actually quite skilled in psychological manipulation. but sometimes, they do provide real info and that does merit a credit.
spitfire2010 I would try to answered this but I will just get more HATE mail. No I do not own one of these but have a ideas for you. I have seen one fly. If you still want my help just ask. May waterlogg will help?
spitfire2010 can I cry on you shoulders. Do you hate me Mr W said everyone here HATES me. I has been at it for the last 10 days. HK cannnot stop him because it is am OPEN discussion. He think some how I have the power to make other give me credits. He seem to think I am force you to give me credits as I could make you do any thing!!! I am so so sad and it hurts
Quit whining Kellyann! Most of your answers are either useless or downright wrong/damaging. If you would just refrain from answering when you don't really know the answer, no one would complain (not considering when you scheme to give yourself credit). Let's hear your "wise" advice to spitfire. My guess is spitfire could probably answer his own question better.
Gee Robo. That got dropped rather quickly. You may have heard but it's all stops out. It seems the moderators from the other forums are investigating Kalyan and it's now another 4 members and possibly another one on the way. If you come across Ashi, please put the item name under this post or anywhere else I can be sent an email. Thanks mate, join the war to get this place cleaned up. It appears Kalyan has been giving lessons
i hate to make a grossly generalized statement but....this hobby is already 99% male. and only a percentage of that r active on the interwebs. common sense dictates that any "girl" on this site is highly suspect. i only say highly "suspect" because in real life, there actually r some real mean bit__s that join the marines that can kick ur butt!! just play the odds
SOUNDS LIKE THERE USING KELLYANN FOR LOW RATES DID'NT YOU READ... I THINK ALL OF YOU SHOULD JUST STOP YOUR **** YOU ALL ACT LIKE LITTLE KIDS.. I MEAN LOOK YOUR PLAYING WITH TOYS OR YOU WOULD'NT BE ON THIS FOURM YA SNIVELING LITTLE A$$HOLES
hey lads, just come back from flying this radjet-420,i used the new nano-tech 300mah, got to say these lipos are perfect for this radjet got the CG smack on and 10min flight times easy!PRODUCT ID: 9210000020
Robachan, who else has taken the tIme to put a measurement in yet? Me. It's 220mm and flys like a dream, I tried as per manual but found it tail heavy! You can always do as Yamato and I and try measurements and c of g on your own till you find what works for you own preference!
Good luck
Cheers
Correct CofG is 220mm or 22cm or 8 3/4 inches from tip of nose rearwards. Move ESC and RX back to allow balancing. then 1 or 2 clicks of up trim and it will fly hands off level at 1/2-3/4 throttle guaranteed
I asked the same question. 3 solutions here Marek. 1 - Hobby King 6ch Rx binds. Remove the case & it weighs just 6gm 2 - Get a FrSky module on this site. There is a 2g micro Frsky Rx here that works with that. 3 - And from cr8tive leo "You can use teh 5in1 micro rx's for the HK micro helis. hk190, hk136 and hk189 all have 5in1 rx's with micro servos that will bind nicely with the 9x series of transmitters" That guy is very clever.
Only foam safe CA, not regular CA. This plane is EPS. Regular CA will melt the foam.

Just Received mine today, packaged fine, no damage. Looks just like a FunJet Ultra. Foam appears dense and solid, the graphics add strength to the wing. It was ready to fly in 10 mins (allowing epoxy to cure!) ha ha ha ha . Can't wait to get it in the air, but winds are 60 km/h today. I'm sure it will fly like the fullsize. I will post update as soon as i get it into the air.

Update and lowering of score.
Quality = 0
Went to set up rates in anticipation of flying this soon, the motor will not initialize, constant beeps, tried adjusting throttle trim all the way up and down no luck. Guess somehow a wire is off esc or motor end! Not too happy now. These micro motors are a bugger to solder, Might try CS and see what can be done.

*************** SORRY HOBBYKING **************
I misread the channel pins on the Futaba compatable micro RX the numbering is (1 2 4 5 6 3) and Ch 3 is full size pins not micro molex. my bad for not noticing it right off! IT WAS PLUGGED INTO CH 4, I slaved Ch 3 to 4 and voila I'm in business! flew it on 50pcnt rates inside a large warehouse, flies nice at 1/4 =1/2 throttle, too scared to ramp it up indoors, can't wait for nice weather to fly it out doors....5 crowns all around! everything works awesome.
Sorry for the post above!
Cheers Lou

Even with the batt.(recomended 180 zippy 14g.) behind the batt. compartment, c/g was still to far forward. made up a lead to run 2 160 nano tec 1cell (11g with lead) still to far forward but better. Will try it when the wind backs off. Looks good tho, neat tidy little plane, that looks fairly strong with the stickers on it. Total weight was 67g with the 180 zippy.

maiden mine yesterday, flew on nano-tech 180 2s, I made an eflite-jst adapter. flies really fast, had to land after some minutes couse I was to dizzy to keep flying Lol. you get tired to follow this fast little thing after a few minutes, and most of time I flew at 1/2 throttle. all 4 batteries were at 3.83 per cell, so reglardless I thought those small bateries wuldn't be enough but only for really short flights it resulted to be more than adecuate.
