ok i got 10 of these in orange, i havn't use them all yet, but when testing them they seem to have weird gear movements once connected to frsky TX operated using 9x, one of them got really hot then got burned out, the others get hot too, surely not all of them faulty!! what could be the problem here?
 CrashAce 797 points
I used a pulse frequency of 400 and had no issues smooth as silk. I believe FrSky has servo frequency adjustments. see if you can adjust it to 250

I really like more orange !!!!!!!
 CrashAce 797 points
I like orange juice too!

Didn't these used to be orange?
Only got mine two weeks ago... orange must be collectors items now? *)
 CrashAce 797 points
I got orange ones back in September. The orange looks kinda cheap. I like the new color better.

Do you think this is good enough for the required 5 thin wing servos for the DG1000 glider from Hobbyking? Thanks
 gcr100 31 points
yes it will be more than you need due to the torque and the metal gears but better sfae than sorry

ITS A VERY GOOD SERVO, AND THE TORQUE ITS ENOUGH FOR AILERON RUDDER AND ELEVATOR,,,AND ITS REALLY THIN...
 mixdup_RC 4 points
I have these in my HK DG-1000 & they work really well, plenty of torque & movement. I've used them in wings (aileron & flap) & elevator. The fit is almost spot on with the trailing edge of the aileron servos protruding about 1mm above the wing surface. You'd need a 9.5mm or less thick servo to fit perfectly.
Steve2308  52 points - 2/3/2012

Well 1.75KG torque is plenty for most EDF's Jeez HET F4 Phantom which will do well over 100mph only states 1.5KG torque min for it's aileron servos... movement is small on fast jets.. fear not!!
 Steve2308 52 points
10.5mm is seriously thin!!! and it's really small for a thin wing servo...!!
 erh7771 292 points
That's what I thought, it doesn't take a tone of cause the higher the speed the lower power that's needed to get jet to turn
 dw30z 86 points
Well, for a HET Jet OK, but you want this in a 120mm Jet right. Which Jet and what is the weight of it?
 erh7771 292 points
A scratch built A-4 Skyhawk ~74" long HOPEFULLY less than 11lbs. Not going to be doing fast spins in it etc. Split S, slow rolls, 8 point, inverted, Dives...medium range maneuvers.
erh7771  292 points - 2/3/2012

Anyone thinks this will be strong enough for a 120mm EDF, 76L x 50 wing span? TIA
 dw30z 86 points
With 1.5kg-1.75kg torque??? NO.
 CHOPPEZ666 11 points
REALLY ITS STRONG ENOUGH, Y HAVE PROVE IT AND ITS GOOD...

metal gear?
 DOCA-SP 2834 points
Yes... It is metal gear.. it's possible to see this in the picture. I only think this servo is weak, only 1.75 kg. Other servos for wings have 4.2 kg of strength.
 Eagle 340 points
correctly...I thinks so. This Servo is not in used for big and fast Hotliners.
 erh7771 292 points
Why Orange? HK, please try black...it hides the dirt better www.link
 rocketscience 319 points
most wing servos are hidden in the wing. you can always tape or paint?
 Ujjwaana 165 points
Like orange traffic light : "Beware" !!! Would cross my finger for good review. Till then I would use the VG 1.5Kg ultra thin servos
 rsuarezn 173 points
Shure you had a good batch of VG servos. I thouught the same untill I received 4 totaly glitching units in the same order . Internal inspection showed that the the whiles from the pots to the pcb where all bad soldered and un isolated (as oposed to the good ones) . Sooooooooo the question is INEXISTENT QUALITY CONTROL !.Ah and these ones at least have fixings , VGs must be bonded . Yellow is no problem for me either.
 rsuarezn 173 points
Have no other items that I want to buy from HK , otherwize I would have bought a pair to test (and post a Review ) . Whos the first one ????
 Reper Man 2 points
I use these on my 2500 mm reaper now i have good about 8 lbs total craft weight and these servos have no problem holding the elevator i use them for flaps as well and they work great only thing is if u do buy it dont rely on only the screw use a good glue to hold the flat part to the wing as they screws will get loose over time hope this help
 Jimbello 8 points
Does anyone know what size the horn screw is? And what sturdier horns will fit them please?
 Jimbello 8 points
The screw size is 2 mm. I just got two of them and they have a lot of gear backlash. Approx 2 deg. measured! Also, the output bearing is sloppy in the housing, either that, or the bearing itself has lots of lateral play.
I have yet to power them up.
Not looking good so far!
 Jimbello 8 points
They will be easy to fit with external bearings, which will reduce the bearing side lash. They seem to centre well and operate smoothly. Just have to contend with the gear backlash using short servo horn/long control surface horn.

Seem to operate alright, and are great for the price.

Reasonably smooth, quiet, and at least as strong as stated.

I'm using 2 of them to operate the Hobbyking speed brakes that I've just put in my old 2.8meter span wik kestrell and they fit inside the 13.5 mm thick wing section.

Pro: Great servo, very precise and quiet. Good value for money. Con: Gears need a dab of grease. They fit nicely in the wing of a Mini Hawk/Mibo Wasp/HK Reverb. Will buy more.

Great servo, installed it on the elevator of a 1.7m hotliner, more than enough torque.
