how many mah can the esc handle
 Justin 2 points
It can have as many mah but it can only have 25 Amps. the mah is only for the drive time.
 Jack 1 points
That's not 100% right. More MAH more amps the battery can supply to the esc. This is where you want to makemsuremyou have enough batt for the esc/motor combination. Too little and batt will fail, too much and it's not as effeciant.
 jhebbel 58 points
Actually Jack its you who is not 100% right, Amperage is defined by the c rating, the mAH is essentially the battery capacity or size and it can be as large as you would desire, but a higher mAH also equates to heavier weight.
 Jack 1 points
Your close... MAH(c)=amp pack can produce. 5000(25)= 125 amps. This is how you match batts to system use. If you get a smaller MAH you'll get less amps. 2000(25)= 50 amps Don't forget since its MAH you have to move the dec point.

So from the pics I'm seeing an exposed main gear. Anyone have issues with these being destroyed running on dirt tracks?
 jmont 7 points
Yes. You need to check and clean the gears or it will ruin/chip both the main and pinion gears.
 hybrid32494 34 points
i have one, it seems fine, the gears are pretty small, so nothing can really get in there to stick.
jmont  7 points - 12/26/2012

Here is a cleaner list. After 3 cars for 3 months here is my break/fix list: Front Steering arm - broke a few. Drive Gears - one set per car. E-Clips 1.2*0.3 - keep loosing them doing repairs. Steering Tie Rod - broke one. Spur Gear - one per car. Motor Pinion - one per car. ESC - one stopped working in the rain. Front ***per Bracket - 4 so far. Front Susp.arm - break a lot. About 8 so far. Front upright - broke about 4 so far. Rear Susp.arm - one so far.

I would like a bigger tire with a more agressive tread than the stock set. Is there any wheels or tires that fit this truck?
 sirbow2 12 points
someone said that the wheels from the 25A mosnter beatle work on this also. see the first discussions here: www.link

What's the top speed with this one? :) Thanks
 tkeliher 251 points
It's hard to judge, actually. But on asphalt with a 1700mAh 2S battery I would estimate 25 MPH .
 TATHAGATA 17 points
Maxes out at 30-31 mph on the 1700mAh 2s as driven on a parking lot. No control, however, at that speed.
 Supagriff 16 points
On a 2s I gps clocked it 30mph, on a 3s it is much faster. 35 mph.
 jmont 7 points
Using GPS, fresh batteries, and new smooth pavement I got 26.1 MPH on 2S and 35.1 MPH on 3S.

Anyone know the "actual" maximum battery area dimensions...if you ditch the factory hold down system in favor of a strap?? A lot of people mention using larger packs, but how big* I don't want to order packs that are all a few mm too large in one size or another.

Hello everybody My motor bearing burn i would like change the motor. Somebody can help me i don't find the original part Thanks a lot
 tkeliher 251 points
If Hobby King is out of stock of the OEM motor, do an internet search for a 2040 size motor and you should find something.

My car came but when plugged everything, the esc keeps beeping loud and the motor just vibrates , extremely get hot, thought motor damaged so changed one but same problem, any idea or solution ... Thanks
 TATHAGATA 17 points
Check your battery & motor connections. Also, are you using any other battery (recommended battery is a 2S 20C 1700MAh Lipo). If you use a higher rated battery, this might happen.
 Joesabre 10 points
You need to set the esc to the radio, the instructions tell you how to do it.

What Programming Card can i use with the stock ESC?
 mobbin rc 8 points
a turnigy programming card will work
 chofmann2 36 points
I just tried my Turnigy programming card. It does NOT work. The card does not even power on. To verify the Turnigy programming card, I then plugged it into a Turnigy Plush ESC with the result that my Turnigy programming card works perfectly. To then verify the truck ESC, I powered it up to find it works normally. Does anyone have other suggestions?

does anyone know if Traxxas Mini Revo 1/16 1:16 Tires Rims Wheels will fit this car? thanks
 scooter4ever 22 points
The center drive nut for these trucks are 8mm I recommend the monster beatle rims they are a perfect fit. I use them on mine and makes big difference in the grass.
 Carol 3 points
No this the wheels on this car use a pin to drive wheels

I had troubles one little crash front left and rear right drive bones flew out and could not be found
 TATHAGATA 17 points
Yes, the rear plastic outdrives bend & spit the dogbones in 2-3 minutes of this truck being put on full throttle. Design defect.

Just want to know wil the 1 to 10 scale tires fit on these from hobbyking or what would help
 dustin 1 points
They can... but you will need to change the hex nut size. To 12mm so you can fit 1/10 scale.
 kyle 1 points
yes they should as he said you will need to change the hex size and they will fit

I seeing a strange issue with the car. It is my first R/C car. I am using the HK3000 receiver and the HK310 radio. Whenever i want to go reverse, the trigger does not respond the first time. Only on the second time does the reverse respond. That does not happen with forward. Is this some kind of failsafe to prevent accidently going from forward to reverse?? Thanks!
 Rob 2 points
Yes you are correct. Its a safe guard against accidently jamming the gears into reverse while moving forward and possibly doing damage to the transmission.
 rkovvur 11 points
Thanks Rob: Is this a standard on all car receivers? Can i change the setting? Is i even advisable?
 Rob 2 points
Even if you can I wouldn't. Its a feature on newer systems to protect your car If you need to go forward to reverse quickly just flick your finger twice in the reverse direction.

I am thinking about getting one and changing the body shell, can someone tell me the wheelbase?
 juusto 5 points
I found 8.5 inches for a wheel base on a web post.

Dont know the wheel base. But i bought a 1/16 traxxas slash body.... worked perfect.

Can you use traxxas tires on this?
 justin 2 points
This truck is compatible with traxxas and most other 1/16 short course truck accessories.

 frogs 161 points
Thanks a lot. Do you happen to know the hex size on the wheel?
 tkeliher 251 points
The hex size on the Turnigy SCT truck is actually smaller than the Traxxas 1/16 hex. So in fact, the Traxxas wheels will not fit.
 some87 7 points
you could always "try" changing out the hex with traxxas ones. i dont own this truck so not sure if they will fit or not.
 ChevyAndVW 1 points
tires might but rims wont
 sdaudet 21 points
Hello everybody My motor bear burn i would like change the motor. Somebody can help me i don't find the original part Thanks a lot
 tkeliher 251 points
No, the Traxxas hex hubs will not work because the Traxxas axle is larger in diameter, so the hubs would be very loose and off center. However, Hobby King via there Turnigy brand has just released a "Drift" tire and wheel package that includes 12mm hex hubs to fit the 1/16 axle cars. This has just opened the flood gates for upgrading wheels. :D

Just got my Kit today! this is my first HK car that I have owned I was looking for a RTR kit that required very little setup time, Kit comes complete with ESC,MOTOR,SERVO all that is required is the Radio/Rec and battery pack (the instruction dont show where to apply the decals I just looked online at the HK site to get a idea where they go) the time it took me to charge the battery I applied all the decals and setup the car, the HK radio I order was pre-bound with the rec so that was a no brainer. total build was like 40 minutes most of the time was just doing the decals. (this car is faster then I thought it was almost too fast ) a new driver might get out of control so watch out she looks small but has a get top speed! Way to go HK great little car!

Just received the truck today and went over it. It comes fully assembled, minus your own receiver you need to install. I found all the screws to be properly snug. The wheel nuts and wheels seemed loose so I snugged them up with the result that the wheels were now jammed and would not turn. So there is a sweet spot that needs to be found where the locknut is loose enough to let the wheels turn freely yet not have too much slop. There are two screws holding the front caster blocks and they also must be turned in only enough to allow the wheels to turn but not loose enough to have the screws fall out. I think this is going to be a trouble area. It is something that will need frequent inspection so that you do not lose a screw and have the steering and caster block fall out. The plastic parts seem good quality. The motor and esc functioned properly and the tires are pre-glued. Very easy to get his cute little truck ready for the track. For the money it is good value.

The extremely low price of this truck attracted me and i ordered this truck 1 month back. Received it 2 weeks back and am extremely dissapointed with it. Poorly packaged, arrived with body cracked & chipped. Build quality of this truck is downright poor. The third jump from the kerb to the road broke a tie-rod. And the kerb is 3-4" higher than the road in case you were wondering. Don't even think of off-roading this cheapie. The only pro-It is moderately fast and yes, cheap. Not recommended and if you are on a tight budget for a 1/16 scale, head to Craigslist.

Bought this wrecked it smashing the front suspension arm and bending the plastic holder for the dogbone on the rear transmission, Got about 4 days out of it on try #1

Ordered replacement parts 3 weeks latter they arrived

Replaced transmission and suspension arm ON try #2 with in the coarse of a single afternoon the same place in the transmission was broken and the dogbone thrown free no major wrecks or problems so it must be due to design flaw.
The plastic holders on the transmission that hold the dog bone in place are too weak to handle this motor at full blast and will inevitably bend and throw the dog bone on the right side rear transmission.

Will not buying anymore replacement parts for this after see how quickly it wears out due to being super cheap

My advice is if you buy this and have a programmable radio turn the throttle down to 75pcnt so it wont rip is self apart
