I've spent several hours researching comments, forums and google about what accessories I need to make this charger purchase with one order from HobbyKing. Any exact references to product pages on HK would be greatly appreciated:-)
— I use the Turnigy nano-tech 2200mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_vie witem.asp?idproduct=11911
— I want to charge up to 4 packs at a time.
— The lipos come with XT60 and a 3S balance connector.
— They work GREAT in my DJI Phantom as a stock battery replacement/upgrade.
— I want to charge from my car battery.
— I want to charge from my wall AC.
— What additional products/accessories do I need to buy from the HK website to make this work for me? Thank you! :-)
Yes, You will require additional charge leads and Balance Leads for most applications beyond 1 of each connector or Cel Count. So for example a total of 4 3s lipos with deans connectors, you will require 3 additional charge leads with deans connectors, and three balance leads or a multi balance board with multiple 3s connectors. Personally I find it easier to just have some 2s, 3s, and 4s balance lead extensions laying around, but that is me....
Could I parallel charge 1 battery with more than 1 output, to get a higher current charge? I have used 2 chargers at the same time before, sometimes they work, other times 1 charger will go up in smoke. I have a lot of tiny batteries, but a few that can handle a 15 amp charge, so if this will work, it would be the perfect charger.
One of the four charging ports fails to charge on mine now. It will start up, get up to .4 amps and then fail, every time. The other three ports are working fine at 5 amps, together or individually. It used to work great.
Will I be able to charge 4 of the same LiPo Batteries with XT60 plugs with what is included? I know I need a power supply, but does it come with the proper XT60 plugs and balancing hook ups needed for 4 of the same batteries?
Awesome Charger!!! This is the exact same charger as the HiTec X4. I have the X4 and my friend bought this one and after comparing them side by side the only differnce is the price and stickers. These are the best chargers I have ever used. Every charge is balanced perfectly and safely to insure no damage to the battery. I have charged over 300 packs with mine and my friend has over 200 on his without a single issue. These are well worth the money and a must for any serious racer or flyer.
Regarding the Quattro 4x6S charger, I wish to charge 3 packs (Turnigy 4S) simultaneously. Will I require additional charging and/or balancing leads and if so, where can I obtain them?
it's not set up like that you still have to find the charge or balance charge option but it's a matter of hitting the button 2 times to get it and then start like normal.
i have had this charger for a couple of weeks and love it.
i did a video on unboxing, using the charger to charge a lipo, charging a nicad with the optional temp probe, and installing, setting up and using the optional charge monitor program to graph your amps, volts and mah charge live while charging on your pc.
It's a DC charger which means Operating voltage range: DC 11~15Volts. It requires an extenal AC power supply if you want to use 120V AC to charge your batteries, these power supplies can be found on the website. If you are interested this charge requires a 50 or more watt power supply. I'd personally go with a 100 watt or better power supply. If you know what you doing with electrical components and a soldering iron you can use a old computer power supply that you have around the house of sufficient power and build your own adapter for use with a charger.
You need to go to user settings and choose the lithium. There you choose the 3 diferent voltages for lion, lipo, or life and when you have that you can use it from the main menu. Setup what you need for life and store it in a memory slot.
Does this charger come with all neccessasry cable to charge 4 bats or do you have to purchase additional cables? Also does it come with a power supply other than the 12volt leads?
It does come with the necessary cables but it may not come with the connectors for your batteries, depending on what kinds of connectors you use. It does not come with a power supply.
It's rated to 15 volts ** but many chargers can handle 17 volts and many newer power supplies deliver 17 volts. ** what about this one? Can it deal with 17 volts? The power supply I want to use is 17 volts.
I just received mine, and it came with 2 balancing boards as shown in the photo, plus leads for JR and Futaba battery connections and other connectors with clips and banana plugs.
What is the maximum number of amps per channel you can charge Lipo batteries at? I need a charger that can charge 4 2s Lipos simultaneously at 15-20a each. (Yes my batteries are rated for that amount of charge current)
Keep looking, this one is not rated for that high of a charge rate. You will need one that you can program in the rate, this one uses the mAh of the battery. If you tell it the battery is a 2S 5000mAh then it will set the charge rate to 5A and you can't change that.
I have one of these and I did not get a manual but it is so easy to use that you really don't need one. The menus are very clear and you can get what you want easily.
Not only can you charge 4 batteries but you can charge 4 different types of batteries at one time including a glowplug starter stick, lipo, nicd, nimh and others all at once as long as you have the proper connectors
If it doesn't plug into the wall what kind of power supply and connectors do I need? I will be using this for Turnigy 2 cell batteries. I'd really like to make sure that I get everything I need.
You will need a power supply capable of supplying at least 200 watts of power. I bought the HK 350W power supply from the US warehouse and it works fine. This power supply doesn't come with a power cord, but Amazon**** has the cord(cloverleaf) for about $5.00.
What is with the way too high ($43) shipping charge from USA warehouse in Seattle WA to Portland OR??? Is that correct? If not please resolve and I will purchase.
The rates you are looking at are for overseas delivery. If you just hit the continue button it shows $13 for USPS Priorty Mail service for this item in the USA warehouse.
Has any one charged 6s batterys on this charger I was wondering how good it worked

Overal I am very happy with this charger. The only issue I have is that port 1 doesn't usually power on when I connect the charger to my car's battery. I rarely need to charge four batteries at once so this hasn't been much of an issue. This may become a bigger frustration since I just added another electric plane to my fleet.

I bought this charger last week, but it did not come with instructions. So, I don't know how to set it up, or what charge rate is best for my 4 cell 3600 mAh Turnigy battery. Nor do I know what balancing extensions to buy that match the batteries balancing plugs. What adapters and what plug types should I buy?

There is nothing not to like about this charger. I already had two Accucell-6 chargers, but needed more charging capacity to keep up with my flying. This charger came with some balancing adapter boards that I don't use (you can plug the balancing connector directly into the balance port on the side of the charger) and a pile of charging cables that I do use.
The thing runs perfectly, all the functions work as stated, and everything is flawless. Why pay for a Big Name charger when you can use this? Five shinny ones.
