Does this charger have a build in power supply or do I need to purchase a power supply along with this charger?
 twistedge 370 points
There is no power supply with this unit. The attached wires are used to provide DC current in the 11-15V range (standard 12V Battery or 12V power supply)

I need to know if this charger can handle 4 x 5000mah 3 (or 2) cell batteries at one time with the HK 350watt power supply. I also don't understand why I would need more charging boards if the balance plug on the charger will accept a Zippy or Turnigy battery balance lead. Anyone have any info? The turnigy 4 port charger is out of stock. This is the only usa based 4 port charger....

It can handle 4 x 500mah batteries at a time, at least it does with my 2 cells. It will handle 50w max per battery and the max you can charge at is 6A per battery. You can plug the leads in directly, but I recommend the boards that way you don't ever bend one of the small pins on the charger...it's a tight fit.

What balance plugs does this come with? jst?
 BrenRC 10 points
Judging by the picture, it looks like it has alligator clips that you clip to you battery wires. Does the make sense to you?
 tim 3 points
No, I'm asking about the balance plug adapter type.
 donovanbad 2 points
It comes with 1 jst balance plug you need to buy 3 more so each charge port has one,

Overal I am very happy with this charger. The only issue I have is that port 1 doesn't usually power on when I connect the charger to my car's battery. I rarely need to charge four batteries at once so this hasn't been much of an issue. This may become a bigger frustration since I just added another electric plane to my fleet.

I bought this charger last week, but it did not come with instructions. So, I don't know how to set it up, or what charge rate is best for my 4 cell 3600 mAh Turnigy battery. Nor do I know what balancing extensions to buy that match the batteries balancing plugs. What adapters and what plug types should I buy?

There is nothing not to like about this charger. I already had two Accucell-6 chargers, but needed more charging capacity to keep up with my flying. This charger came with some balancing adapter boards that I don't use (you can plug the balancing connector directly into the balance port on the side of the charger) and a pile of charging cables that I do use. The thing runs perfectly, all the functions work as stated, and everything is flawless. Why pay for a Big Name charger when you can use this? Five shinny ones.
