I also got the problem where the 6th cell displays a too high value, have validated against both my iChargers. All cells say 4.20 but the 6th displays 4.28 when it according to both iChargers should read 4.20
 Kaarthic 267 points
May be the resistor divider inside the cell checker have some problem..
 Drugos 2002 points
It could happen.

Hello Guys , Does this product works in checking LiFePo4 batteries ?
 Drugos 2002 points
Yes,it does.
 Gyro Gearloose 114 points
Absolutely... it's just a voltage meter. What will NOT be the same as LiPO is what voltage you wish to see when charged/discharged. I think LiFE run 2.3 - 3.4V/cell, where LiPO is 3.4-4.2V/cell
 GeeBeeY 55 points
It help me a lot and it is very precise. I highly recommend it!
Jarl  10 points - 2/24/2013

The negative (common) pole on this charger is really hard to see (its a small yellow "-" on the yellow background of the plastic casing).
Use a black permanent marker to color the plastic around that pin - and its easier to hook up right on the go.
 Kaarthic 267 points
Done that...
 Drugos 2002 points
Thank you.
 wytsma 211 points
Thanks for the info!
 Gyro Gearloose 114 points
I blackened my ground pin as well, but really if you always hold it the same way (upright numerals) with the same hand and plug going the same way, your habit will make the marking irrelevant in a couple uses.
wytsma  211 points - 2/20/2013

I own the cell checker 6 months now and still as accurate as my DMM. Every time I charge my batteries I check again with my Yellow Cell Checker. Great item and a cheap must have!
 Gyro Gearloose 114 points
If you have a digital charger, it's readout should be accurate. If not, recalibrate it! If you don't have a digital charger, take your $3 brick outside and hit it with a hammer. Those things DESTROY innocent batteries, and should be punished. Then go get a good AC6 for $15 or so on here...

DAWID  4 points - 2/17/2013

Over the course of a week this cell checker has lost its accuracy. From the readings, it looks like values for cell 6 have increased by about .15v and cell 5 decreased by .15v while cells 1 to 4 being off by about /- .02v. The total voltage accuracy doesn't seem to be affected though.
 Gyro Gearloose 114 points
That doesn't make sense... it's a calculator, so once it has numbers (even wrong ones), it has to add them correctly. If the cell readings are wrong, the total will be too unless the inaccuracies are perfectly balanced.
lweber  14 points - 2/2/2013

This is a great accessory but use with some common sense. I measured the same 3S fully charged LiPo with my DMM and the two HK cell readers with the following results - Total - 1 cell - 2 cell - 3 cell. DMM 12.56 - 4.21 - 4.17 - 4.18 Plastic Cell Key - 12.5 - 4.21 - 4.18 - 4.18 HK Battery monitor- 12.6 - 4.20 - 4.18 - 4.23 And my HK charger gives slightly different readings for the three cells. Actually these are all good readings if you understand that there can be some small inacuracy in the voltage readings.
 Kaarthic 267 points
When checked with my Mastech DMM the values shown on the cell checker were exact with the values shown on Digital MultiMeter

Yellow plastic case. even has a recessed post on the end to add a string or key chain. I use mine almost every Day!
fincher69  11 points - 1/31/2013

Is the case made of hard plastic or rubber?
 Drugos 2002 points
It is made out of hard plastic.

Is it possible to measure only one cell pack (1s - 3,7V) voltages?
 rizki 16 points
does not seem to be, because most of a cell lipo is equipped with a cable balancer. to use a checker cell lipoly just plug in your lipo balancer cable
 WiseDuck 227 points
I haven't had any issues with measuing a 1S pack. My 1S pack has a JST plug. I just plug in that on the first two pins and the display tells me that it's a 1S Lipo and then the voltage.

 sutaburosu 6 points
It does measure 1S correctly when they hold more than 4.0V charge. When the cell holds 3.7V this reads 3.95V. At 3.6V it reads 3.98V. Be careful!
Brheli  158 points - 6/21/2012

Is this recomended to leave it on the battery during the flight? Is it too big for a 450 Heli?
 puntomad 9 points
no it is not reccomended. There is no use to have it all the time in battery. We will not see it anyway.
 BossJay 159 points
It is not recommended to leave it on the battery during the flight. This is very useful to check the individual voltage and the overall voltage of the battery before and after the flight. with this cell checker, you can determine how many minutes you can safely use your lipo without over discharging the battery.
 chopper50 263 points
LOL Thats just Funny
 Tony_Pham 33 points
it is not recommend, just added dead weight to you heli. you'll need to hover the thing really still and close to you to read the volt if you going to leave it on your heli anyway/
 Maksym 3 points
Better to look into telemetry module plus voltage sensor which will give you information when to land
 Ryan 47 points
It is not needed or was designed to be an on board voltage readout. Although if you wanted to you can. if you choose to, i would say remove the yellow housing and use just the board with double sided tap. if you can get a thin piece of smoke color transparent tape to place over the LED readout, the visability becomes cleared. But again, it was only designed as a fast readout of your batteries to provent the use of batteries that have been already used or is to low of voltage to use to provent ri
 Alekss09 9 points
a portable instrument for measuring the voltage apperativnogo on each battery bank, such as a voltmeter) it makes no sense to put on the model. for this is to show the instruments on-board voltage and low voltage on the battery.
 mperaltaoz 16 points
No. You are probably better off buying the one that has a buzzer in that case.

Will this work on a 1 cell lipo? Does anything?
 Arsya 161 points
No, it will works only on 2 or more LiPos

 Drugos 2002 points
Yes,it will.
 Otoman 11 points
the minimum voltage for some components used is somewhere around 3.3-3.4V at lover voltage this unit simply shows nothing - so for checking fully charged 1s lipo is ok (all what i need when working with 1s lipo)

I just got one of these and it only puts out "rd" then "end" like another comment in this list. There is no manual in the box or on-line to look at as was suggested. I have another "unboxed" unit that works perfectly. Not happy at the moment!
 fapsauss 184 points
Just contact hobbyking. It might take a few weeks but they will get it settled.
 Anton 3 points
www.link the best manual=))) The first number shows the voltage at the first cell, the second shows the voltage at the second cell, and then the total number of =) that's all! and how to connect, see the picture

Hmm I have 2 and they work perfect - are u sure you are connecting the battery correctly not from the wrong side or reversed? The black wire is the pin to the bottom
 ricardozanqui 8 points
Hi, dear friend, must appear on the display the total load cell by cell and then, behind it shows the numbers of cells to attach.
 Tony_Pham 33 points
there is no manual for this cellkey ( as least thats how i got mine, in a little white box with no manual ) try flip the balance plug around, go on my youtube channel at RcJustflight, i have a video reviewing this stuff and how to use it.

Can i use it for 2 or 3 cells?
 FPVking 374 points
I think so, 6s is just maximum. On ebay same price but without case so this yellow is good value.

In one of the Photos there are using it with a 3S :)
 Hannibal 6 points
It is a very good value. I totally recommend this 6s Lipoly Cell checker.
 Filmtok 6 points
Yes you can use it for 2s and 3s! It works for 2-6s LiPo's.
Please reward my answer if you finds it helpfull!
 KaosKane 1442 points
yes but the ring attachment point is on the lid not the cell chequer lol *}
 KaosKane 1442 points
The cap fits on Very very tightly no worry about loosing the chequer
 Daniele 7 points
You can use it for 2 cells since 6 cells.
 cwinma 4 points
Just leave your keys in the ignition and your'e good to go.
 Semut 23 points
yes can...
 Lawson 3 points
Yes you can all you need to do is plug the balancing connector with the wire with the red starting where it says 1s.
 Lachlan 9 points
Yer you can use it for upt to 6 cells really easy jusst plug it stright in
 CapriJake 3 points
Works on 2Cell, 3Cell, 4Cell, 5Cell, 6Cell LIPOS
 bullnw 3 points
definitely YES.
 Rotavator 28 points
The ring attachment on mine is on the checker and not the cap/lid so they must have changed the design, the checker it's self works great and pretty accurate.
Madmao  35 points - 10/7/2011

To bad, that, if it opens somewhere, you loose the checker instead of the cap...
 __DONG 23 points
yes the hanger should be on the other side . ha ha failure design.
 MadCentury 23 points
i think the designer thought the CAP must be more important than the checker itself www.link
 irwinfc 90 points
instead of thinking of losing the checker, how about thinking when you actually use it? i guess one would want to take the checker and connect it to the balance connector, right? NOT take a whole bunch of keys (or tx handle or whatever it's attached to) and move it close to the lipo.
 KaosKane 1442 points
ths cap fits on Very very tightly no worry about loosing the chequer
 Lachlan 9 points
The cap is on really tight it wont come off anywhere unless u pull it off
 CapriJake 3 points
Shame its on the other side but the cap is really tight so hopefully it should be fine.
 Rotavator 28 points
My Lipoly Cell checker came with the key ring on the main body and not on the cap so no it's not a failure design :)

Seems to be rather accurate. when I compare the voltage to my fluke multimeter it is almost never more than .02-.04v off.

It measures individual cell voltage and total voltage through the balance connectors. Extremely small (same size as usb drive) and handy to use. Very easy to use as well.

So far I've had no problems, definitely a great deal!
