Can someone advice me can this motor install on SK450 Quadcopter?
Umar  3 points - 5/9/2013

can i use this to upgrade my brushed wingdragon 4? 1 panning to combine: Turnigy Park450 Brushless Outrunner 1200kv TURNIGY Basic 18A v3.1 Speed Controller APC style propeller 7x6-E Turnigy nano-tech 1300mAh 3S 45~90C Lipo Pack is this right?
 Umar 3 points
any suggestion?
 ElectricAussie 2777 points
Hi Umar, The photos of the wingdragon 4 don't clearly show the motor/mount area, but this motor would probably work. You might need to modify the motor mount area on the plane a little. The power/thrust of this motor is a good match for the wingdragon 4. Use at least a 20A ESC to avoid problems, as this motor can draw as much as 20A depending on the prop you use. Cheers, EA!

Sadly i allready purchase 18a esc that i mentioned above I use a 7x6 prop
 ElectricAussie 2777 points
Hi Umar, Thanks for the credit. You'll be okay using the 18A ESC with a 7x6 prop. You won't be drawing more than 15A. I use this motor on a 3D plane with a 9x6SF prop and draw almost 20A, but my prop is at the upper limit of what this motor can handle. Cheers, EA!
 Umar 3 points
Thank's for your advice too :-)

im looking for motors to put on my dji f450 quad, is this a good motor? and is it less or more powerful than this D2830-11 1000kv

Saludos, EA!

These motors are of high quality. Their strength is bigger than declared. It pays to buy more.
 ElectricAussie 2777 points
Hi Pepek, Thanks for the endorsement. I'm using a Park480/1320kV motor on one of my 3D planes and have been very happy with it, so I decided to try this motor on a slightly smaller Sbach 3D. How much thrust have you gotten from this motor? Cheers, EA!
Jess  1 points - 12/2/2012

Thanks, problem is you can't see the ends.
 Brad 7 points
Yeah, sorry I had tabs confused and was looking at the wrong picture. I realized that after I posted. No connectors on this motor, just stripped and tinned wires.
Jess  1 points - 12/1/2012

The picture doesn't show any electrical connectors. Are there any or will I have to solder some on?
 Brad 7 points
You will need to solder on your own connectors, the motor arrives just as you see it.

Has anyone tried this motor on the Decathlon? The model is about 600g, 3s 1300mah, 20A ESC.
 Brad 7 points
I would suggest a lower KV version of the same motor running a larger prop for a slower acrobatic plane like a Decathlon.
 Tim 3 points
Used this in my Supercub which is 712g with the stock battery. 3s 1300mah with 18A ESC. 8X4 prop. 6 good flights, this motor seems well matched for this model. The Decatholon has a simalar airframe so I would say, check it out.

using turnigy talon carbon fiber quadcopter frame for this motor. What should be the appropriate propeller ?
 Martin 5 points
I mounted the 8045 SF and the 8045 eletric props on 3S LiPo. Both were fine and current is under 13Amps. Be sure to balance the motor!! and props. Mine were quite badly balanced.
isildur  28 points - 4/5/2012

Hey guys would I be able to use a 7x5 or a 8x3.8 prop with this motor? and which one of the two would produce more thrust?
 isildur 28 points
yes you can
 JIM 1 points
I would try an 8x4 apc electric for starters
Just ordered this same motor for my mini ulta stick. ive bee cutting and bal. props with great result on an 890kv but with hot landing approach hard to slow down.. had to use flaps
 Joe 7 points
I've used 8x4 and 9x5 with these and these is no problem. The motors don't become hot.

Should I be able to reverse the shaft on this motor? I've removed the set screws, but the shaft is very tight inside the bell side of the motor. I'm afraid to tap it with a small hammer because I don't want to damage the motor. Thanks!
 isildur 28 points
it should be easy to reverse, just undo the grub screws take it out and hammer the shaft the other way.

how would this motor do with a 7X3.5 prop? any potential over heating issues?
 Micheltsx 19 points
it should be fine, in the description it says you can use it with 8x4,3. and a 7x3,5 puts less strain on your motor.

thanks, can you advise on a esc / battery setup with this motor? also do you think this would make a good pusher motor on a 650 g model?
Bertrand  10 points - 3/11/2012

How many poles does this motor have ??? Thanks
 Micheltsx 19 points
14 magnets and 12 poles

Hi, can anybody please tell me what's the distance between the mounting holes on this motor? :)
 Mark_Z 124 points
Hi, mounting holes on the frame are placed on diamerte 33mm, on the motor 16 and 19 mm

 Jimmy 1 points
Thanks, But how can it be both 16 and 19mm on the motor? Going to buy some motors for a quadrocopter frame. And it says that I should use motors with 16mm mounting hole distance. You think this'll work?
 Mark_Z 124 points
need to strengthen the engine by only two bolts (16mm), the remaining two holes, 19mm.

Great and cheap alternative for the tuning motorization on the MPX Xeno!!!

More power on a smaller prop with less volts?
 kyrre 301 points
My guess is that they mixed up the voltages
 HibridOPT 52 points
wow, 4mm shaft for a 175watts motor?
 Bogdan 1 points
recommend me propellers as given example in Test Data (10 x 4.7 and 8 x 4.3), clockwise and counter-clockwise. With links, pls.
 Joe 7 points
* HibridOPT: yup 4mm shaft. It is very solid. Had a couple crashes with my quadcopter and the aluminium frame bended while the motors remained straight as new.
 ricardovasc 1 points
They fixed the test data.

I am using it in a 750g biplane and it has more then enough power to do pretty much any tricks you want to do. Using with 25A ESC, 2200mah Turnigy lipo and 10x4.7 prop. I also use a 9x4.7 prop from time to time and it still has more than enough power.
