Simple to use Lipoly low voltage alarm that is small and light for on board use, plug's into balance lead for detecting low voltage on individual cells. A loud alarm will sound and LED will change from Green to Red if any individual cell drops to 3.3v or below.

Just a heads up. This voltage alarm will not work with 2s and 3s Hyperion/polyquest lipo packs. The 2s, 3s and 4s packs use the same size balance connector, which means the 2s and 3s packs have a missing wire. The alarm reads this as no voltage. The alarm will sound on a fully charged pack.
If you manage to put it outside the plane body, I think yes, when you have it pass near you. I can hear it in my heli when its hovering 10m away, no problem.
Buznut, if wan louder alarm, go to search another lipo alarm with display n adjustable voltage,, price is usd3.xx that one is very loud.. I have two with me use on heli.. Compare to this this buzzer more soft...
if plugged in and put secured on the outside of the model being flown you will 150 meters distance. Being connected and secured on the inside of the model being flown you will get between 40 and 75 meters. It is always useful to get the model to fly close to you now and then and listen for the beeps.Setting and using a timer on your transmitter is also a good idea. Between them both you should be covered. Happy Flying.
I don't have the best hearing but I can hear it at approximately 75% of my maximum visual range on a 30 inch wing span model. If I fly at the limit where I have difficulty seeing the orientation of the model, I cannot hear it until I get a little closer. Still this device has served me well. I don't use timers anymore and I rely on the beeps.
No issue... Some more the one with display can set the voltage to activate the alarm.. This one only will alarm when below 3.3v.. Suitable for receive only I gues..

Not sure if this is going to post as a new question or as a follow-up to my previous one (as intended)...
In any case, to Fabio's point: The VTx I'm using is the one that comes with the FatShark Attitude SD package. The manual that came with it has a photo of the discharge filter supply, with the a label next to the balance lead socket that says "2S/3S input from battery balance lead." To me, that specifically implies that the FatShark engineers designed the VTx to be powered off the balance lead. I understand your point in the sense that the low-voltage alarm would place additional current draw on those leads, but I have to think it would be tiny.
It's ok to feed voltage to a device from the balance plug if current drain is about 2A or less. If you want to use this lipo alarm you need to connect it with an Y cable, as you said. The current taken from this alarm is just about 50 mA, your battery or VTx are not going to be affected. Good luck!
I bought this item, but I'm already running a VTx for FPV off my LiPo's balance lead plug. Would it mess anything up to use a "Y" cable to run both the VTx and this alarm of the same balance lead? Are such cables available for purchase, or would I need to make my own? Thx.
There is no such Y cable available in HK.
You have to make your own.There will be no problem using a Y-cable to run two devices from the balance connector. ALL THE BEST
I disagree with the use of balance conector to feed even only one device such an FPV VTx. Balance conectors was not designed to feed any device, but to manage low density current flows to balance the batery cells. Did you measure how much current flow through the conector in order to feed your FPV device? Do you know how much is the limit current for the conector? Best regards.
Plug it in to the balance port on your battery. The negative wire (black or brown) goes with the LED on the left. That's it. Now just wait for it to start beeping.
the alarm in low voltage component sounds only when if any of the cell become weaker say below 3 volts it will alarm this will help saving your model as well battery from over discharging dj
Is this alarme sound when a cell drop below 3.6V (or 3.7V)? Because I have similar alarme that sound when one cell or the two or three cell drop below 3.75V and sound too when one or more cells drop below 3.3V. There is too many sound effect and finally we hear a lo of sound that give confusion....I would like hear alarme (buzzer) only when one or more cells drop below 3.3V to advertise that the battery pack is low. is this alarme correspond to my wish?

The led doesn't consume that much energy, you can safely use it and keep it connected to your battery for a some time. It drains about 0.7amps i measered.
Hello guys, i want to use this lipo low voltate alarm on my softair gun, but i have a question.. When i attach it to the lipo the led go on and drain current... But how current it drain? The battery are connected for a lot of hour, and i won't discharge the battery only with led..
Although the current drain of this device is minimal,
it should be stay plugged on the battery only during operation.
Keep in mind that any device plugged to the battery pack if hasn't a switch in series, could drain your battery.
plug it in when you are playing as that is the time you would need to know you your power.
Unplug when you are not using the marker.
Only use the voltage monitor when you are using the battery if not keep it unpluged from the ballance port.
depending on where your port is and where you want the monitor to be you might look into extention leads for the balance plug to get the alarm into a better location on the marker.
Hi Jacock, recently bought this item, works great on fliers due to size and weight but before you buy this(not saying its not good) I would suggest you to get this one instead. I personally didn't not see this item else I really would have gotten it. What's the difference you ask? Click on the link you will find out. www.link
it is a good unit you have sudjested to use yet paint marker only use up to 3S that I have seen and would be overkill for a marker.

Your LiPo packs come with a charging lead, it usualy has a white connector with thin wires. So,you must plug your LiPo's charging lead as follows : the black(negative) cable of the charging lead must fit the outer pin signed with "-"(negative) on the board of the On Board Lipoly Low Voltage Alarm (2s~4s). Hope this helps.
Your distribution board does not have the individual voltage of the cells of the battery so the alarm will not work as designed, Suggest you attach the alarm to your quad and plug the balance port of the battery as Flyer Guy suggested everytime you change the battery.
Thanks! I guess it's best to just keep the quad at hover at low altitude to see when it alarms vs when the esc's stop. For less than $2 I guess its worth a try.
Does this start to beep before the ESC will cut out? I would like to use this with my quad but want to make sure it sounds off before the esc's stop. I would rather loose a battery than my quadcopter.
Yes, it starts to beep about one minute before the ESC turns off, but it depends on the ESC and the battery so test the times yourself just to be safe.
If you use Programable ESC you can change the settings to NiCd our NiMh battery and voltage cut to low, your ESC's won't turn off, that's what i've done.

That's bad for your ears... and good for your mind and soul! :-) What I did on my heli is to position the alarm in the up front part, where the canopy is transparent, so I can see it.
This is great protection. Does anyone know if it is possible to connect More LEDs to the device somehow so it has a higher level of visibility? Thanks. Pete
I don think you can... leds are driven by de IC and it will surely have a low current limit. Unless you use an external transistor to drive the extra leds. In such case you can do it.
listen for the alarm as it would be a better way in the long run.
LED,s could be added if you cut the shrink and add jumper wires to each side of existing led on the board.
Done this for a pico switch for better viewing of divice setting
You could get an JST-XH extender wire and have it split in the middle. then run the LEDs from those wires. Then you could have them in more visible spots.

I love this smal alarm system. Easy to fit and very safe. After connetion, it check every cell of your Lipo and the horn will be activated for a second. It is very loud and a nice working tool for more saftey.
