The FPVRaptor is an attractive and superbly designed FPV platform with a a host of neat features that make this model one of the best in its class.
For toughness and reliability, the model features a blow moulded fuselage which utilizes Nylon and is virtually indestructable, the flying surfaces are all made from tough EPO foam. From point of view of practicality, the wings are plug in and the model requires no glue for assembly, everything simply screws together. The outer canopy is purely for looks and is used when the FPVRaptor is flown as a glider, it unclips in seconds to reveal a camera ready platform, complete with a pan/tilt servo mounting hole that has been pre-moulded. This large camera platform/wing cover is secured by a quick release latch and once removed, reveals huge canopy area for mounting batteries and FPV equipment onto a pre-fitted ply plate. All servos, motor & ESC are of course pre-installed.
The plug in wings have mouldings for adding flaps if desired and there is also a moulded C of G indicator on the underside of the wing for quick pre-flight checks. There is no doubt that this is a superbly designed, high quality FPV model at an excellent price. It would be fair to say that it is more attractive to look at than most FPV platforms, not to mention much tougher, the FPVRaptor will give the RC Pilot hours of enjoyment for many years to come!
Hello Everyone, I've had my raptor for a couple of months now, I fly her purely as a glider, with a standard motor/ESC and a 2200mah battery she weighs in at 1300grams after adding weight to achieve decent COG. She glides very well and with thermals good flying times are easily achieved, even in windy conditions. My only complaint is the nose dive when hand launching, giving up elevator as you launch helps tremendously but I suggest you make small mods to the motor mount. Fitting a 8mm spacer under the motor pylon mounting plate with a 3mm bevelled edge towards the rear of the plane, this raises the prop height and takes out the thrust angle towards the nose, to make this clearer, your motor shaft should be in-line with the fuselage. My next mod is a new HK esc and a slightly larger motor, I will write again on my findings.
The plastic mount between the motor mount and the fuselage in mine was missing a screw, and is not so strong. At high thrust the motor mount itself was tipping forward. I added a screw and reinforced it with strapping tape and hot glue and seems better now.
Everybody speeks good about this motor, for FPV Raptor.
In the characteristics it's written that it drains 25.2A at 3S, with a 9X5 prop and has 1.320 grams thrust that's good if You don't charge Your Raptor with a lot of FPV gear.
If You reduce 1" of lenght and increase 1" of pitch, I think that it will drain about the same Amperes, so Your ESC is overkill.
If You want to check the combination between different motors, batteries, ESCs and propellers, just write "eCalc" in the Google and enjoy the online the software!
Flew this model today with the Pheonix 2mtr wing on it, flies much better far more suitable for FPV now.
Mine had a few missing parts (I don't bother with HK's after sales service....cough cough cough as it's useless!) You get what you pay for, cheap **** sometimes.
2.6A battery using moderate throttle gives me close to half an hr endurance, more than enuf as after that one gets bored!:-)
Hi, i want to use 5.8ghz fpv FY31ap autopilot #18 keychain cam 1800 mah 3s lipo, but can this plane handle it? and how long (short) can i fly? (best reply will be credited!!)
I am sure this plane can handle 10000mAh S3 and GoPRo3. So the answer would be yes. I am myself using 8400mAh S3, upgraded 1100 motor (tilted 30 deg upwards) and 10x6 prop now. It needs flaps and tilted motor or it will be hard to launch, just today I got 57 minutes time from my setup.
I did it to test battery endurance after my latest upgrades. It was sunny when I started but soon got cloudy and by the end of the flight I was freezing and begging for the battery to run out :) I'm looking for long range RC RX/TX now (433MHz), already have the video downlink sorted out. Hope to fly real FPV in about a month or so.
Hi, Is it a big motor in this plane?
Will it handle 2 2200mha 3cell gopro hero 3 with fpv equipment?
What is the fligt time with difrent battery!!! ??????????
Easely..) I use 4400 nanotech 3s gopro fpv 1.5 watt 900mhz 30min or little more if soar)) with 40% trottle. you can take bigger battery evean 8000mah but land with flaps..hope help))>Sweet landings<
Its better to upgrade motor and ESC, than this plane can handle 10000mAh S3 and GOPRO3. You need flaps more to launch than to land, plane likes to dive with throttle so you better tilt the motor up a bit. I am myself using 8400mAh S3, upgraded 1100 motor (tilted 30 deg upwards) and 10x6 prop now. Just today I got 57 minutes time from my setup easy.
If you upgrade motor and ESC this plane can handle 10000mAh S3 with GOPRO3. So definitely more than 10.000 mAh S3. Note the mods required for easy launching (see my other answers under this product).
If you upgrade motor and mount it a bit higher plus tilt it upwards you can use 11x4.7, makes it very quiet, less vibrations and more efficient. Motor tilt reduced diving with throttle with heavy setups.
you can get them look on ebay and other places also 2000mm wing fits the same exactly if i ever break it thats what i will get to replace it also bixler should fit the same 100mm shorter but works.

Just finished the assembly of my Raptor.
Assembly is easy and everything fits good.
I find it heavy. To get the specified CG of 65 mm I had to
put additional weight in the noze. Final weight ready to fly is now 1250 gr instead of 950gr as indicated on the box.
It will certainly fly much faster.
Test flight is schedule for this weekend.
I did my test flight in a 15 to 20 km/hr wind.
It flew great, it penetrates well in the wind and it is very manoeuverable.I had two lipo 1000ma 3c
one was used as ballast. I don't think that flaps are necessary. It was equipped with a Ultra mini Digi cam.Video was bad with the engine running too much vibration will have to rebalance the prop. Otherwise ,great plane ,very satisfied.
I have a standard set up which came with this model and micro reciever and 1800 lipo its sort of OK but man its to heavy to use for distance fpv in case it falls out the sky its a weight to heavy
Hi have one of this PNF planes, i'm using a skeptrum 6i controller with a OrangeRx R610 Spektrum DSM2 6Ch 2.4Ghz Receiver, the problem that i have is that the motor dont turn off, when i put the trottle to the middle of more and them when i lower all the stick of the throttle the motor should stop spinning (motor off), but the problem is that the motor dont stop spining, the motor spin at a very low speed, but dont shut down until i disconnect the battery, i have try using the trim of the controller and dont work, the motor keep going and going, like the energizer bunny, so i'm asking for some help, dont have too much experience in this, but i will like to learn.
Before plugging in the battery to ESC put the throttle stick to full power, connect battery and lower throttle stick. This will reset your throttle range, it just might be calibrated wrong.
hope this helps
Hello, I got this plane, and I had a fatshark FPV system. but when I attached the Fatshark FPV system to the plane and turned it on, the video signal would go. please can someone help.
I would like to warn everyone about this plane it was missing the servo horn mounting plates and hobbyking doesnt wanna buck up to it and send new plates rather they want make me jump though a bunch of dumb hoops in order to get anywhere with them. I recommend nobody buy this plane from them if they cannot be professional and help their customers.
There is a little bit of building with this model but its well worth it, just get a white dishwashing detergent bottle and cut some squares to match the servo horns , drill hole in them and use the supplied screws also use heat shrink or cable ties on the clevis's and you've got no worries. Excellent plane :)
thanks for the info i didnt think of that as a solution to the problem but it did make me mad as far as customer service was concerned. I think its a nice plane too look forward to flying it.
Thank you Frankie, you did answer my doubt. I was getting crazy searching for the parts! I do have the same problem and I am pretty upset so far. The manual is bad (to simple) I am beginner and have my problems because the manual doesn't say which screw goes where also parts missing. I have to invent some things to make this plane fly. Hard for a newbie to get this working :( plane looks nice, parts (which are actually in the box) are good quality. I hope I don't regret this plane! Hope it flys better than the service from hobbyking works.
A pair 9g servos would do. I just enabled the flaps on a Raptor and, to my surprise, the pre-cut servo bays place them parallel (unlike ailerons which are mirrored), and I did not need to use a servo inverter. Nice.
Tested the flaps, plain and with 200gr extra to simulate my FPV gear. They do their job, both at launch and landing, but lowering them for landing does no increase manoeuvrability at low speeds (this plane tip stalls easily turning at low speed). It does help to slow down the plane loaded with FPV gear one lined up for landing.
TO EVERYONE! please sign this partition against Oregon senate bill 71. WE need to help them and we dont want this to spread to the rest of the world. Even here in australia im not meant to fly FPV anywhere exept the local club (gets boring). ***********change****/petitions/oregon-sen

I saw a review of the FPV Raptor EX with a bigger motor, folding prop and the motor pylon had down thrust built in. Where is that EX available? Or, at least the motor pylon.

Ordered mine on 20th September, it arrived today, 27th September. HK communication about my order was excellent, tracking worked well.
Plane well packed, I had ordered some other small items at the same time and they were nicely packed in the box too.
No damage as far as I can see except for one plastic clevis (elevator or rudder, haven't figured out which yet) that is bent and the servo arm locating pin on it is broken.
It came with a Deans plug for battery connection and the batteries I ordered separately (from AUS warehouse as HK could not airmail LiPo's with the plane) came with XT60 connectors! Great! Now I have to order some connectors to make everything compatible. HK should say in the item descriptions what connectors things come with.
Instructions are minimal but look adequate and fuselage is good and strong. Wings etc look pretty beefy too.
Only 3 crowns for quality because of broken clevis and incompatible battery connector. Might re-post and award more crowns when I have assembled and flown it.
Great for FPV. Lot of room, camera pod ready, wings can take a lot of load if you reinforce them. Flies great, but like all chinese kits you have to work your way around, small things that get in your way.Not the best system to connect the wings to the body, it could've been done way better. Overall, I like it.If you are into FPV, I promise, you won't be disappointed.Same kind of plane, but better than Bixler for FPV.

A heavy fpv indeed. Flew this recently, very stable and can glide very well with power off... found out when my stock esc burnt off after the 2nd flight. set up: 2200mah 25c lipo, stock esc, prop and motor throws: ailerons 90pcnt -65expo, elevator 100pcnt -55expo. rudder 90pcnt
would be great with a 40amps esc setup. overall good plane.

Got my FPVRaptor in the mail today :)
Very happy with the quality of this plane. All the EPO molds have a smooth finish and the nylon fuselage feels strong.
The plane goes together easy. One of the fastest build i have done. All screws no glue at all. The hardest part to the build is putting the damn stickers on.
This plane has lots of room inside for all your FPV gear, as well as lots of room to mount your cameras and transmitters.
Im using a 5.8ghz system with a 1/3 Sony cam and everything fit in nice and easy including my pan and tilt camera mount as there is a hole pre cut for my 9g servo.
I'm using a 2200mah 3s battery for the plane and a 500mah for my transmitter. With this setup i was able to balance out the CG with no problems. i even tried 2x2200's and 500 and still could get the cg right by moving the battery's back a bit in the fuselage.
The plane comes with T-type connector on the ESC, so make sure to grab some xt60's if you buy your battery's from Hobbyking.
The only problem i had is that 2 of the clevis's for the control surfaces came broken and the ones that are provided feel pretty weak. I would suggest swapping them for something stronger.
Image of my FPVRaptor in the files section. Some video to come as soon as the weather clears up.
A great platform for FPV and a steal at $70. Thanks HK

I received my FPV Raptor and was surprised by the quality of of the model for the money. It went together very easily, stickers were a bit rubbish but I'm not that bothered! I don't like the cheap clevises and rods. They do a job but the quality could be better for a little bit more money.
This is my first FPV model; I will be using the Far Shark dominator etc so I hope that the Raptor has the 'punch' to fly well with the extra on board kit.
I will be test flying this one tomorrow before fitting the FPV stuff.
I don't think anyone buying this model would be disappointed.
What would be nice is a slightly larger one with a bigger fuselage and wing (2m)and a 4s setup.
