What would be an appropriate prop for this motor running on a 6s Lipo? How do people select props in general based on motor specs and the battery used?

Hi all! Can I use than Motor on Zlin Z-50L 1194mm 25e class Sport Scale (ARF) with 12*6 2 blades prop and 3000 3s bat?
 kizashi 54 points
I would go with the 3548 900-1100Kv, any of those would work fine. 900kv if you want a scale flight and the 1100kv for sport flying. With such high kv (1450) your battery with the prop you will use wont last you long. Of course that would deppend on your flying style.

Where are the motor mount holes on this motor? The diameter is 35mm, but how far apart are the holes for the screws used to fasten the motor onto the aircraft?

Is it suitable for hexacopter?
 Mattyc 231 points
there is no reason why not. I think it is more important to have good esc's with a quick refresh rate.
 David 48 points
take low kv~600-1100 with bigger prop>

Hi I Am thinking about This motor to a tricopter. What kind of esc am I going to buy. Max Current 48A , does that mean that I need a 50A esc ? Iam going to use a 4cell lipo 14'8 volt battery . Regards Andreas
 Joseph 2 points
I have these motors on my tricopter and if you are going to use a 4cell setup, I would advise getting the HobbyKing SS Series 60-70A ESCs. 50A will get hot with 4cell. Also get the Atmel Atmega ESC programmer and flash the SimonK firmware. Much more stable flight with multirotors.

Hi, do you think this motor will be good for a homemade 1.8M lightweight (500-700g) hotliner glider? I would like to reach 100MPH

Hi, has anyone used this or mounted this to a Parkzone Trojan? thoughts? along with a Red brick 70amo esc
 Yuri 12 points
This motor I used P-51 the Mustang. 70 amperes ESc are reduced by time till 3 minutes. better than 40 amperes ESC - flight time of 8 minutes.

can anyone help me ? i have an asm hercules , and i need 4 motors to it . the plane is 6,7 kg without motor, esc, battery, so my calculate is around 8kg fly weight. witch motor can i use ??? i need around 7-8 kg of thrust. im thinking to use 2x4s 5000 battery
 Yuri 12 points
Expensive espen31. There is a good program is called "MotoCalc"- there you can calculate all parameters... Everything.ч*т*о* people tell it their supervision, and there mathematical calculations.
 wesix 90 points
Look at the turnigy rotomax series. You should be able to find a suitable motor their.

The relationship between the 10x6 and 11x5 propellers are the same for this configuration? With 4s 2650ma battery and 50A ECS. 1300g weight flight. I believe that a propeller 11x5 tera almost the same thrust that a 10x6 however the effect on the commands will be bathing suits because the vortex of wind to be greater diameter or am I right??
Willian  2 points - 1/3/2013

I have this engine and propellers 10x6, 11x5 and 12x6 with 4s 2200 battery and 50A ESC intend to use it on a 120mm 3D EDGE 540 who remained at approximately 1300g for flight. Will I be able to relate these items to a 3D flight?
 jet72 281 points
with a 10x6 -> 2.6kg thrust * max. 60A and 120 km/h speed more than enough power but with a 2200mah battery your flighttime will be just a few minutes!

Ethan  6 points - 12/11/2012

I have one of these and accidentally used a 30A esc. I assume I need a 50A esc to use this, right? Unfortunately I lost this motor on my last flight and I suppose I should get a new ESC as well as this motor. Is there a better motor available for my application? I am putting it on a 48" balsa model that is meant for Nitro, but I turned it into an electric plane.

ola sugestã*o d esc par este motor obrigado
 Juan Luis 21 points
Will depend a lot on your propeller size, but I guess that a 40A ESC will be enought. I use this motor with a Turnigy 40A Plush and works fine together.
 Juan Luis 21 points
I forget to say my setup, its 3S 8x4 propeller. So for a 4S system i will use a 60A turnigy plush, or a 55A D-Lux.

hy all , watch out for the full-load torque output !!! never start with full trottle ... there is so much torque that the plane starts rolling ^^ .... start testing with 3s so you can balance the plane better .... if you have an old lipo so watch out about current ... maybe you need a better esc at 8x8 take an 80A esc the same with an old motor .... all tests based on turnigy motor 1450 !! use a folding propeller so the current is smaller as with a carbon propeller ... i still use now esc 150 A lehner motor 1400kv with 8x10 on 6s .... max power and speed ... i think that is maximum wight for this plane ...and place ^^ so be carefull with these setup´*s... you don´*t need to amplify the wings !!!! my elevator setup is 40% if you like more the plane would be very aggressiv ^^ so have fun be safe cya

You can heat the shaft and giving back, but it is not recommended you have other models with the axis changed
 Pickle72 57 points
Yes, remove "C" ring from shaft and loosen the two 1.5mm allen head screws from the front of the housing holding the shaft on. Pull motor housing(with the shaft) off of the magnets. Just pull, once you break the magnet connection it comes right off. In a vice gently push the shaft in so it stick out the other side. You can also gently tap on the shaft with a wooden mallet or a small hammer with wood between the shaft and metal hammer(no metal to metal: it will de-magnitize it!). Now you can put

I used this BL for my Multiplex Dogfigther in comination with TURNIGY Plush 60amp Speed Controller. As mentioned before: remove C-clip, unscrew allen head screws, removed the housing by overcoming the strenght of the magnets.
But then: Dont tap on the axle. Just put it in a bench vice and GENTLY press out the axle. I used a large diameter socket, so the axle can prtrude trough, while using the vice. After axle removal, just rotate axle and press in, again with the vice (GENTLY). Reinstall C-cli

what is the difference between the d3542/4 1450 and the c3542-1450
 jet72 281 points
d3542/4 1450kv has 690W - c3542-1450 has 595W

you can use both of them...the d3542 has more power...i think the c3542 is a little bit more efficient (no load 2.3amps)

Ich hole mit mein Setup aus mein Blizzard mit 9x7 Luftschraube ca 450 Watt aus dem Motor . Der wird nicht mal Handwarm . Also geht noch mehr . Motordaten sind realistisch .

This motor is a front type? I mean it is made to be used in it's nose?
 Alexander 2 points
I use it as a pusher engine. But since it is a normal motor you can use it anywhere on your plane.
 Adaltro 1 points
uso esse motor em um axtra300 e voa muito bem,com grande empuche se utilizado ma bateria 4s,ele fica na frente do aero e funciona muito bem!
 hwagener 243 points
This motor is configured for backmount-application, as you can see on the picture. I have ordered it and saw it when i had it in my hands. It can be easily changed to front-configuration by realeasing two screws and pushing the axis inside, but the axis has no cut-in for the snap ring, but you won't need that if motor is pulling. If you need a pusher you will have to use other things to fix the cap.
 khairil10 13 points
Yes, it is meant for the nose as well as a pusher in the rear.
 bodypaint 9 points
I buyed this motor and you can use it in front or back.... i use it on back and i reversed the rotation from the esc or you can change the red and black wiers from the motor to the esc and it does the same thing for rear mounted motors

what connectors do I buy from Hobby King to match the bullet pin ends that are on the motor?
 ARCDIRECT 162 points
It,s look like 3mm bullet connector , but since the connector are not too expensive, buy both 3mm and 4mm,we always should have all size connector and wires etc .
 Frank 29 points
3,5mm is correct, and the set includes the pins you need to solder to the ESC..

1 thumbs up!
Hello,

I use this motor on my Multiplex dogfighter with a 70A ESC and a 9*6 prop
With 2200 Mah 3S1P
Nice and very fast

With 1800 Mah 4S1P nano :
More than 1000W mesured with my wattmetter (maybe too much for this motor).
I got vertical climbing and very very fast that's crazy

Don't use 10*7 with this motor, you'll burn your controller or your motor

got plenty of thrust out of this engine. Mounted it on my flying wing and blasted away. The engine producing so much thrust that my engine mount broke and the engine separated from my aircraft and was lost in action. Sad end of the maiden flight...
