This great looking balsa Spad offers a simple but satisfying build for the WW1 enthusiast, the end result being a sturdy and great flying model of a classic fighter.
The model is well built and nicely covered, all hardware is supplied as are the scale details like the machine guns and exhausts. This great priced model also offers an in-expensive build, which set up with the right motor will have superb slow fly capability coupled with plenty of power on tap for aerobatics when needed. This model has everything to offer the enthusiast, great price, great looks and great performance!

You can sign up to Paypal and register a bank account with them. Once you have done this you can pay directly in your own currency rather then in US dollar. Paypal makes the conversion for you and charges £* to your £* bank account rather then $ to you £* bank account.
Added benefit is that HK do not charge an extra fee for using Paypal.

Recommendation: buy different wheels. Stock wheels with metal holders weights 110 grams. This is 5 grams less than nano 1300mah battery (115gr). This is not wheels for plane. Scale look - yes, but looks like they are for some ground toy.

I think this motor will be a bit under powered,it only gives out a max power of 102 watts where it would be better with nearer 150 watts, take a look at the following suggestions or look for something similar* Turnigy T2830-1000. Turnigy D2830-11 1000. Turnigy L2215-900.
what the prop size is depend on yor motor size and esc, n not forget LIPO. for first trial, u may use 28-22/26/30 or 28-36 any brand in HK shop, combine with prop 9x6 or 8x7 the ESC 30-40AMP,but not forget LIPO 3 or 4sel 1000mah and above
It's not new to me that the chinese are master copiers. But this is the first time I can compare first hand (owning the original). It only differs in very minor details from the Electrifly version. And it doesn't cease to astound me how they can get away with it.
That is probably the case more often than people may think. The hardware is completely different though, plastic horns instead of glassfiber, multiple wooden spacers instead of alu tubes and wooden motormount with 4 hole pattern instead of 3.
I'll save my $ 50 plus dollars and use the wooden mounts, thank you very much. by the way the wooden mounts give more flexibility to use different motors.
I just pointed out the differences between the hardware between this and the Electrifly version, I never said anything about the quality. And the motor is supposed to be frontmounted so the lenght doesnt matter.
Lon I am an avid HK fan and I think we are All entitled to give our view in this foram and express a personal opinion which i have i havenot critricised the product just expressed that i dont personally like the look of the aircraft so
I think it is the Great Planes Spad. I own one and aside from no pilot I see no difference. The size and covering are identical. The supplied plywood disk for the motor mount isn't original, but the 3 hole mount on the actual plane is. It's really a beautiful plane. Maybe they built too many and are unloading them. The wings are about a mm too thin for hxt900s. Flys great with a Turnigy outrunner and 1250 3s.
I love the drama when someone epresses a fact based comparison lol. I feel like i am reading womens home journel:). Ok facts , for the savings its not worth the effort for (USA customers only ) because as you know Tower offers free shipping deals thru the holidays from $25 purchases and up. So if you have a problem with the HK version like (broken parts) and you add the shipping to the states, the risk to benifit ratio is not worth it. I love Hobby King but I typically need 40% or more to hit the buy button because you have to add shipping, the fact that you have no real chance to return an item(lets be real ok ) we know this to be true and its ok but true. So reality is its a great little plane but perhaps a better value to the international customers then the USA customers. As far as factories, its very real that many are made in the same factory. Its all about MOQ(minium order quanity) if you can meet a factory MOQ , you can typically place an order. As far as copies lol , less then 3% pay any royalty for the use of original aircraft licensed rights, so coping one model that is released from one company to another is not a surprise at all , they are all in licensed infringment if the parent company were to enforce the name brand.
I bought the elecrafly camel from the US to AUS (Very nice model) And it came in a box with Made In China stamped on the side in huge letters. It may be from the same factory but with some different hardware.
I just receive mine and this plane is just a super deal. some piece of wood are missing for the front cabane but , easy to make new one.
i did not use the metric screw . Replace and taped every 3 mm with 4/40 screw .
Well done again Hobby le King .
Tomorrow the model should be ready to fly
none of these "great planes" are from the same factory. lol such a life. there is more than 1 factory in china.

Good model, very nice in flying like real Spad XIII
It's not for beginner, and request many our for assembly.
The landing in grass runway it's difficult.
One raccomandation: close and block the cover for servos, under the motor, i lost it in flying, magnets not enough.

Got it as a freebie so I paid shipping wich is still a lot of money. It's different - can be used as a look only model on tha shelf :D I am not into balsa. Wood should stay on the ground. Way too much repair time when something happens.

Quite a good kit, however missing four of the strut connectors used to connect the bottom and top wings. As usual, good luck getting the missing pieces sent out to you as you have to be able to photograph everything the moment you get it, which is not always possible when the manual differs somewhat from the HK plane.
Recommend buyers carefully count the number of top and bottom struts upon opening the packet and contact customers support asap. Alternatively, if it's too late like in my situation invest in a GPMA3104 kit off eBay to make up for the missing parts.
Unfortunately blights an otherwise good plane kit.
Got it as a freebe. Payd shipping though. Sold it to my friend who is balsa and old style fan. He hanget it on sealing and not going to fly it. Maybe one day... Yea the price looks high so wait when this comes a freebe again and buy 150$ of stuff to get it 0 price.
