Turnigy 2650mAh 3S 1C LLF Tx Pack (Futaba/JR) (USA Warehouse)
Turnigy 2650mAh 3S 1C LLF Tx Pack (Futaba/JR) (USA Warehouse)

The Turnigy 2650mAh Transmitter pack fits snuggly into any Futaba or Jr radio which uses a 4x4 AA cell battery configuration (see image).
It includes discharge plugs for both JR, Spektrum plus other radios.
It's built with a low C-rate Long Life LiCo Formular which isn't like a standard LiPo. It retains voltage for months on end without need for a storage charge so you can store your radio and fly once a month and not have to worry about discharging or recharging your pack.

With a capacity of 2650mAh this lipoly replacement for your old NiCD or NiMH will last four to five times longer. Probably the best advantage with a lipoly transmitter battery is that it will give a true voltage reading from start to finish which means you can say goodbye to the days where you thought your Transmitter was fully charged at home, only to find the voltage drop off rapidly when at the field.

I bought one of these for a Futaba radio, and installed 2 diodes in series with the positive lead of the Tx connector, so over-voltage will never be a problem for the electronics.

Is this battrery safe to use in older Airtronic FM Radios . The volts read 12.4 after i charged the battery. Made me a little nervous. Thanks
 morphine 407 points
If the old Airtronics radio takes 8AA batteries then yes because 1.5v x 8=12v and when the lipo drops from peak to 11.1 the voltage is still quite good.

Help Please, From the picture I see 3 different plugs.Which ones do you plug in the charger to charge the battery?I am new to this and don't want to blow things up.I have HK ECO 6 Balance Charger. Thanks
 Gary 2974 points
You can either use the black plug or the white one directly beneath it as shown in the picture, the shorter lead with 4 wires and a white plug is for balancing the pack whilst charging.

I need to tell my charger what the chemistry of the battery is so it knows how to charge it. The description says it is a LiCo formulation.....so........should I set my charger for LiPo or for LiFe? I prefer to use LiFe batteries for my transmitters since they are more stable than LiPo. Does this battery compare most favorably with a LiPo or a LiFe battery?
 SWAMI 5 points
Co is the abbreviation for Cobalt, so you have a Lithium Nickel Cobalt Manganese battery. Just match the manufacturer's published cell voltage to the nearest cell voltage for lithium type batteries in your charger.
 Foxito 16 points
I just purchased one of these batteries and received it today after 3 days, installed it on my Turnigy 9X and it fit right in, without any modification or any soldering/desoldering at all, just plug the black connector from the battery into the white connector inside the battery comparment just making sure observe the right polarity and that's it, ready to go. I balanced the battery, charged it at 1C (2.6 Amps) on my Imax 6BAC Charger/Balancer/Discharger and after less than an hour it was already fully done. Turned on my Turnigy 9X, and graciously saw the voltage go to 11.5 Volts. Tired of using alcaline batteries (and spedning money) and Ni-Mh rechargable ones, I did the right thing buying this battery and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone for their Turnigy 9X, at least that's my own experience since that's the TX I own and it fits right in and it works great. I charged the battery as regular LiPo 3S at 2.6 Amps (1C).

Will this fit the hitec eclipse 7?
 SWAMI 5 points
Your a modeler, modify it so it fits!

According to 9xr description: "Battery Compartment: 112 x 44 x 27mm", so maybe, but width would be VERRRY tight
 EjectSteve 13 points
I have the same concerns as you. I think it will fit, but what if it expands a bit, later on it its life? This other one could be a safer www.link
 EjectSteve 13 points
I don't know why they took the link out, it was a link to another battery on the HK site. item# 9210000036

I would also like to know if it will fit the 9xr
 Julio 14 points
it will fit, how ever it will be a thight fit. and you may have to modify the pins. the pins are backward, but tha is an easy fix.

Anybody try using this with the Hobby King Universal Heater System for a transmitter glove?
 James 7 points
Specs on heater: "Amp Draw: 5.2A * 12v". The discharge rate of this pack is 1C, aka 2.65A, which is less than 5.2, so no, that is a bad idea.

I used the 3S charger come with Heli 450 V2 Clone work just fine. Battery was use for FlySky FS-TH9X = Turnigy 9X. Only small modification needed to the battery by useing the same small connector (2 pin white connector) and switching the pin on connector from (RED = ) To (BLACK = -)and (BLACK = -)to (RED = ). This also work fine with Solo 180D Heli TX.

Will this batter work in a Walkera Devention DEVO 10 2.4GHz 10ch Telemetry RC Transmitter?
 morphine 407 points
Tanker,..... Measure the Walkera battery pak and then look carefully at the Turnigy dimensions. Compare the two measurements. I am sure your Walkera has a battery holder with 8AA batteries in it to equal 12V as per the Walkera specs like my radios did. I have 3 of these Turnigy battery packs. One is in a 9X and the other two are in Futaba 8U radios. Although I do not have your radio, I am quite certain that this battery will fit.

At 1 c discharge this battery is only good for 2.65 amp load... will this supply a 9x and a UHF system? Anyone doing this?

Is this battery better than ZIPPY Flightmax 1800mAh 9.9V 5C LiFePo4?
 morphine 407 points
I refuse to buy any more Zippy batteries because I have had so many arrive dead(3) and fail prematurely. I do use this excat Turnigy battery in 3 of my radios. 2 of them are in Futaba 8U radios and one of them is in a Turnigy 9X. 3.3v per cell is the Life battery and 3.7v per cell with Lipo batteries. On my radios I use a voltage regulator from aprohobbies. Look for the SKU...... SKU: LIPOVSD-FUT(for futaba style connectors and LIPOVSD-JR for JR/$pektrum. $10.00 and they work great.

Can i charge this battery with a standard futaba rx tx charger that
came with the nicad batteries?
 blazer1 82 points
NO!!!! you need a LiPo charger to charge this one..PLEASE don't try to charge with the charger that came with your radio..it may start a fire..
 sergey 1 points
double no lipo batteries need to be charged by a lipo charger or they may explode
 Stew00 5 points
Absolutely not.. You have to have a LiPo charger to charge this battery.

can a standard lipo charger charge this, IE, no voltage display, parkzone 2-3 balancing charger Li-Po.
 Sean 2 points
Yes it will just fine. Make sure NOT to charge while it is in your transmitter with your regular transmitter charger or you will smoke it.
 dwpennington 9 points
yes just charge it throught the balancing plug, i do the same and have had no problems
TyCarp  35 points - 11/27/2011

How do you charge this with a charger that requires a discharge plug and balance plug? Do I just need a male receiver connector to use as the charge plug?
 morphine 407 points
No, you need a multi-connector. Type multi-connector in E-B-A-Y and get the one that has the 4mm power plug. Got several hits for $7.50 free shipping. Some people call it a squid and some call it an octopus but its just a multi-connector. And dont forget to use the hyphen.
 Mahu44 184 points
I have this battery in my Futaba 10C and the battery does not discharge through the regular port. You have to remove it from the transmitter and charge it that way. I use the Triton 2 EQ and a Futaba RX plug with the balancing port.
 dwpennington 9 points
i just soldered an XT-60 connector on the one of the outputs, charges fine, of course my charger uses both plugs for the balance charge,

I just received one of these batteries & plan to use it in my Turnigy 9X. Can I use it in a fully charged (12.6V) state in the 9X without damaging the radio? Should I only charge it up to 12V?
 morphine 407 points
Dont know if the 9x will handle that voltage. Order this slowfly...... www dot aprohobbies dot www.link have it available for both JR $pektrum and Futaba Hitek
 SubatomicMD 65 points
I would dis-charge the lipo to around 11.1v, just to be safe, and go from there. hope that helps.
 dwpennington 9 points
yes you can use this fully charged, i use same Tx and battery combo at full charge and have had zero problems, i get about fifty, 8 minute flights before needing recharge and run the backlight kit as well
Mrebman  39 points - 6/2/2011

Will this TX battery pack fit in the Turnigy 9X radio?? Anybody tried this battery?
 caleski 5 points
Seem to be great batteries for the price. Perfect for Computer radios. Fit my JR XP8103 Radio perfectly as a replacement for the NiCads ( that only lasted a half hour or so). Not sure the longevity but will test this week. Voltage showed 12.4V after charge.
 Philip 9 points
It fits a Turnigy 9X radio perfectly. You will need to replace the power connector with the one from your Turnigy 9X battery holder.
 Aeronitis 1 points
Exactly how would i go about replacing the connector. a link to pictures would be great. This is my first time having anything to do with r/c, or electric for that matter.

Aeronitis:
You chop the connector off your old pack & twist/solder & shrink wrap it to the wires on this new transmitter pack & pluig it into the radio.

I need a little help, guys: I am new to this and just received this battery yesterday. I have a new Skycharger/balancer and I want to be careful with how I charge this lipo for the first time. Can someone tell me what would be the best settings on my charger for this battery? Many thanks!
 charlie1 13 points
charge at 2.6 amps, 11.1 volts
 dwpennington 9 points
i get around 50, 8 minute flights before needing to reacharge, and yes it's ok to run a fully charged 12.6v in the radio with no ill effects, this is the best 20 bucks i've spent, i also have installed the backlight kit as well,

I have a Futaba 6EX-2.4 Ghz that is rock solid in the air and simple to program but the original 600 mAH battery is good for 3 flights if you are lucky. I have to charge it every time I fly. I love the radio but I hate the battery pack. It uses theFutaba 8 cell flat pack. I installed this battery in my transmitter with some simple modification. I soldered 2 Radio Shack #in4001 silicon diodes in series on the plus side. This drops the voltage a tad and makes the transmitter charging plug
unusable. Next, I removed the back of the transmitter and drilled 4 quarter inch holes in the battery compartment so I could tie the battery down solid with plastic ties. You could use Velcro or two sided tape to hold the battery in place because you cannot put the battery cover on the transmitter now. I fly rc, I'm not going to enter a transmitter
beauty contest and actually I think this mod makes my transmitter look cool. Now I can fly on a spur of the moment without worry of my batteries going dead. A word of CAUTION: If you put Li-Po batteries in your transmitter, you will need to store your transmitter just like you store your Li-Po's. Put it somewhere safe where it can't cause a fire. I bought a cheap fire safe from Wal-Mart and I'm going to store my transmitter in it in the garage. I would not store it in my house!

For some reason my above review was cut short.
I ordered these batteries from the HobbyKing USA warehouse and shipping took only 3 days and the batteries were in perfect
condition. I gave them 5 crowns because the service was fast, the
product works perfectly and the price was very fair.
Thanks HK. I'll be ordering again soon.
